    Summary -

"Gut broke first, NXT Tour 18 frays like crazy looks and feels like its going to break but hell, its holding up !"

    Full story -

A while ago I made a thread asking what string is good for non-string breaker... and i never broke strings before and this is my first time breaking a string ... I got devirginized
I strung up 2 same racquets with these 2 string a couple weeks ago and i alternated hitting with both... about equal amount of hitting time with both and today after basically pushing a forehand the the gut broke on the mains... I knew it was going to break in the beginning of the hitting session because I saw that a strand in the mains was 'un-twine-ing'...

The NXT Tour actually got more abuse because it didnt pack as much power as the gut and i had to swing harder to make any sort of dent in my partner's defenses and i noticed even from the 3rd day of hitting with it... the string frays like hell and its like the outer layer is peeling off and such? I am not a string expert so whatever...

obviously the end i dont think I can go back to the gut because it is too powerful and i dont think its the right string for me ... the feel is unbelievable its like seriously cupping the ball and sending it out... but the power and lack of extra-spin potential (oh and the price lol) is enough to deter me from going to it...

I think the NXT Tour hits very well... good control oriented... not the perfect string but good try as well... I think I am going to go back to big banger ace 18 again... and just cut it out every month or something... but before that I am going to give nxt tour 18 another try ...

the 16x18 pattern on your racquet takes it's toll on syn gut/multi/gut strings. the open pattern really shears the strings, especially if you hit with any kind of spin.

so you think I should go back to luxilon ace 18?

even with nxt tour 18 i hit out sometimes and with ace 18 sometimes i felt like i can take any type of swing and not ever hit out

the only problem now is i have 1 more packet of nxt tour 18

i'm saying you should play with what works for you.

if you play better with a multi and can cope with frequent re-stringings then play with that.

if you play better with the big ace 18 and it doesn't hurt your arm in your racquet then play with that.

it's all about trade offs and what you can live with. i don't think you'll find the perfect string. you can spend years trying to find the best string. pick one that works for you and stick with it.
