Hi guys, I recently acquired nadals competition racket (setpember 2011 version),aeropro drive - with paint job of the retail aeropro gt version, brand new, strung with rpm blast strung at his tension, grip size 2. This was a charity event. I want to know how rare a racket like this is and also how much they retail for?

not sure how you post pics yet, but it has the same rafa logo as fabfeds racket on the throat: http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=340181

Also has the cortex insert, grip is new and sealed and says competition on the plastic grip cover. It is definitely heavier than the stock racket, and the charity did say it is the actual racket that nadal uses (also nadal was at the charity).

Rafa does not use cortex, so that should be a painted insert if it is his stick.

I said it has the cortex INSERT, I know he doesnt play with cortex. And obviously babolat have added the cortex INSERT now so that it looks like he plays with the retail version.

Well this is interesting, since I have never seen rafa use a bab with anything but the cortex painted on.

My local shop has a frame an APD GT that was signed by Rafa and was all done up with RPM Blast and a Babolat VS overgrip on it and even Rafa written on the side but its got real cortex on it. They must have a bunch of these so they can be given away.

To my knowledge there are no pictures of Rafa in competition with a racquet that actually has cortex built in. Sounds like a Babolat marketing gimmick / display version.

He fell prey to the cortex demons after losing 7 finals in a row.

This could be it...he finally realized he needs that cortex and crumbled. Good call.

So this IS Rafa's stick then.

IIRC it's named competition as they are signed and given away to (usually) good causes to raffle off to raise money. Which is a nice touch, OP did you bid on it or was it just given to you then?

Hi Dave, it was given to me. So the racket is the stock apd gt but with a paintjob and strung with rpm blast to look like rafas right?
