    hi there,

i'm still stringing with an old but realiable babolat exclusive machine (soon some photos on photostringer!) But the time has come to buy a new one, and i think i felt in love with the STAR 5
But searching on babolat.com i couldn't find info on this machine. My question: is the babolat star 5 outsold or not (regio Europe)

    Hi Stef

'fraid the Star 5 is not being sold in Europe. We get stuck with the Sensor (which isn't a bad machine).

    Star 5 Availability

To date, it seems the Star 5 is only available in fareast and US.

Not sure if it's available in Australia or South America or not.

    I don't have it anymore.

But, no. It wasn't. Not compared to the Star5.

Anyone who can give me advice for getting it to Belgium (Europe)??? I saw on photostringer that JANNEMAN ( member of TW) has bought a star 5. And he is from the Netherlands (neighbours of belgium) ... so maybe he knows more!!!!

    Janneman where are you??

I saw one in a carrying case on photostringer too. This will help you get it to where you are going. Just know that shipping is going to be a bear.

I also heard a rumour that they maybe available via the supplier in the Republic of Ireland (EIRE), but that hasn't been confirmed. And also they're part of Europe so the chances are slim.

Janneman's was sent that photo of the Star5. I seriously doubt the Star5 will be in Europe, at least not at that price point.

This is just another example of Babolat's crazy distribution ways.

Why won't they let everyone enjoy their product?

Don't get me wrong. The TF7000 is a fine machine. Better than most. Just not better than the Star 5. I have only strung with the Neos 1000, not the newer Prince machines.

as far as using the prince machines i am in the same boat, but i talked to a tournament stringer in dc who used the 4 custom made prince 4000's, and helped wiht the new one and it sounds like a close one between the prince and the babolat

the prince machines are not even in the same league as the Star 5.

As for the Star 5, I don't like it as much as the Star 4, or possibly even the Star 3. A lot slower but the functions are more and the mounting is more stiffer. Prince aren't that good because they just aren't. Yonex's machine is better and TF and Babolat are better still.

As for a Babolat exclusiver.. really, I don't know a lot about the machine but it's doubtful you'll get a lot for it. The 2502 (star 4) and 2002 (star 3) are what people want because of the mounting and such.

Hey Stef, what kind of machine you have right now, you said from 1991, a star 3?
which part of Belgium are you from?

Like Señor Parnell said here once, if you go for a babolat machine you go for a ferrari ;-)

I think in that case your machine is a little older then 1991 ;-) infact it's 10 years older, from 1981 to be exactly!

where do you live in Belgium?

I used one of those 4000s that you saw in Washington. That same stringing team did the Knoxville Challenger - and the stringer stayed at my house while in town. Unfortunately, the clamp bases on the prince were about shot when they rolled into town - and it became such an issue, that they had to finish the tourney borrowing the Star 5 of the University of TN Tennis team. I had heard that those 4000s had been rode very hard - though I dont know exactly how old they were.

I also strung a few on the Star 5 during the tourney. I liked the mounting system (I am biased towards inside mounting) and the tension head better on the Prince (nothing wrong with the Star 5 head - I just liked the activation button on the Prince better) - but the clamps of the Star 5 were superior (becasue they were not broken). If the Prince clamps had been operational, I think they would have required less effort than the Star clamp bases. I also liked the turntable base of the Star 5 better (smoother clamp movement)

The local shop has a Prince 5000. The mounting and tension head look about the same as the 4000 - but the clamps look better.

I would wager that the Star 5 is probably the better long term solution - from a durability standpoint - but that is just a hunch - I have no experience or evidence to back that up. I really prefer inside mounting though. I think it is more preventative than reactive.

I have not used a Prince 4 or 5000 machine. I have heard good things about them but would be a little aprehensive concerning the after sales service/repair here in Europe as the sales will be minimal and a repair team is expensive.......

I was in Belgium in December and yes it is a beautiful country. The food is the best in the world !! And Kim is the probably the nicest player one could meet.
My first Babolat machine was a starring "e" and as far as I know it is still going strong in a club in the region
    All the best,

    Sorry Guys
Its not available in Europe. Pas de chance. I used it at the last GSS symposium in Texas last year and know for a fact that 2 were sold on this basis alone (not because I used it but because the client could see it in action). Good machine and the clamps are the best on the market. The two action locking is still not as good as my 5502 or 3502 electromagnetic clamps.
    All the best guys

    http://www.tenis.shop.pl/inkontrahent.php5?g=51&sg=Maszyny|Do naciągania rakiet|Babolat

    http://www.babolatshop.eu/vypletacistroje.htm

Very expensive though, in Poland: 4.233€ or 6.390$

in Czech rep: 5.177€ or 7.816$
