What a shank.
Wait, why did Berdych qualify for WTF today? What if Alamgro/Tipsarevic/Del Potro/Simon wins the tournament, Fish/Tsonga reach QF/SF and Berdych loses early?
Federer gave him that game
Fed to serve it out then.
Mike Sams is a *********. He is not a Nadal fan.
anyone know what strings stan is using?
Wawrinka's broken racquet just showed up. What a motherf***er.
What happened here?Pretty confused the umpire
What was going on?
I have no idea what's going on here...
Lmao at that entire sequence. Fed asking the crowd for clarification, like a bad stand up comic.
Did Federer just give Wawrinka the point? Wow.
I think the umpire made the mistake calling it 40-15 when it was 30 all instead. Both players looked surprised
the umpire thought it was 40-15...he assumed fed wouldnt miss that sitter of a backhand
2nd mp for fed
It was supposed to be 30-30. Fed missed the final backhand.
federer wins 7-6 6-2, what was going on at the end of the match, what where they talking about? Why did they take that 40-15 point away form federer?
Umpire called the score wrong, Fed and Stan corrected him. Umpire called 40-15 but it was 30-30 as Fed missed a BH sitter when Stan fell.
Federer wins 76 62 and faces Nishikori in the final.
Federer missed the last ball so it was 30 all but umpire got it all wrong. So both players were confused.
Fed through to the final, going for title number 5 in basel
Nice fairplay from Roger
Ester looking beauuutiful in Fed's box <3
federer won the point where stan fell down right?
No! They corrected afterwards
No, he didn't. He missed the final shot. It was supposed to be 30-30, umpire called 40-15. Fed corrected him (which took some effort).
okay, thanks guys i understand
Great match from Fed, feel sorry for Stan must always be hard playing Fed for many reasons especially in Basel
maybe the umpire wanted to give the point to fed cause he was irritated by wawrinka falling during his swing. but fed was right the point had to go to wawrinka. stan probably didnt even realize fed had missed that backhand after he fell
the confusion started because i think fed asked "40-0!?" in disbelief instead of "40-15!?" after the wrong call from the umpire and because of that stan and the umpire both thought fed wanted to argue why it wasnt 40-0 as he may have forgotten his DF. but in truth fed was arguing that it shouldve been 30 all and it just took a while till the others realized what he was talking about lol
funny scene anyway
final should be nice
Well yes the ending of a season plays a role but given what Novak did this year up to this point neither strong nor weak season finish is gonna affect my opinion that much.
Sure Fed's 2006 was amazing and I could definitely understand some people claiming it is on par or better than Novak's 2011 (especially if Novak doesn't win WTF) but for me personally even if Novak fails to win a match till the end of the year it's still better than even Fed's 2006.
I value all surface dominance a lot and Novak this year won a big title on everything from HC to clay and grass (yes I consider masters to be big titles as well, Novak's wins in Rome and Madrid complement very well the rest of his season), not to mention that going undefeated since AO till RG is mind boggling, again the difference isn't much, we're talking about some of the most dominant seasons ever in tennis here afteral but my pick for the best season I have seen is Novak's 2011.
Fed played 97 matches in 2006 and lost only 5, Novak's only played 72 and lost 4, thats why i think Fed's is better
Novak has only lost 3 not 4 matches

Let's put idea of Djokovic having best season ever 2 bed: with Novak's 4th loss of 2011, John McEnroe's 82-3 record in 1984 still stands

1. Federer def. Djokovic RG
2. Murray def. Djokovic Cincy
3. Del Potro def. Djokovic Davis Cup
4. Nishikori def. Djokovic Basel.
my bad forgot about #3
too bad anyway. was looking forward to another great fed-djoko final
weve certainly had too few of these thanks to the draws
The loss to Nishikori sums it up I think cause I don't see Djokovic winning both Paris and WTF unless he surprises us all.
Djoker: 3 set win over Baggy y'day, no hint of injury. 3 set loss today to Kei N, and out comes the injury stuff.
I really wish the joker would suck it up and credit the opponent, instead of shrouding the whole thing with retirements and injuries. Every loss this year except for possibly FO has been surrounded by injury talk. This is what makes it hard to root for the joker. I am not saying he wasn't injured, but its the PR stuff and how it can undermine the opponents victory. Nadal has understood this and after a loss he refuses to be drawn into injury talk (See 2011 AO SF loss to Ferrer).
Kei is in good company right there. If he improves a little more and remains healthy, top 15 is not too far fetch. He's already beaten Berdych, Tsonga and now Djoker. If he beats Fed tomorrow, I can see cash pouring in from his part of the world. Good show Kei !
I guess this is what happens when you finally cycle of of your steroids.
"The second set, he was playing great and was fighting... I have to give credit to my opponent, he was better," said Djokovic.
It's irrelevant. Once the match starts, it's survival of the fittest until a player wins a match point or a player retires.
Quoted for truth.
Gonna have to sig this good sir
Agree 100%. Excellent post.
What Djoko did this year, against quality players on different surfaces, is unprecedented..
Unprecedented because of SURFACE HOMOGENEIZATION+ LOW PRESSURE BALLS+ LOW TOP 10 LEVEL
And the top 10 level was higher during Fed's time? Did Fed beat the #2 player 6 times in a row and the #3 player 3 times out of 4?
And just who would that be? Nadal? The same declining shell of himself Nadal? The one who is a mental midget these days? Cvac has managed to win so much this year for multiple reasons, one of which is a weaker than weak field where even most of the top 10 is pathetic. I told you the other day that he has not been unbeatable since Rome and that players just need to keep the pressure on when they're playing him,and not quit while they're ahead. Nishikori did both of those things well today, and Cvac lost. He should have had many more losses this year considering how many times players have choked against him while up sets,breaks,etc...Nadal being the worst culprit of this especially in IW(where Nadal completely outplayed him through a set and half until his serve deserted him)and Miami. And let's not forget how Roger choked away a 2 set lead, and 2 match points on his own serve at the USO. Imo,Cvac never should have beaten Baggy yesterday, and wouldn't have if Baggy would have just kept his level up instead of folding the way he did.
