Here are a few simple guidelines about strings; String Pattern-A more open string pattern offers more power and spin whereas a more dense string pattern offers more control. String Tension-A lower string tension increases power but decreases control whereas a higher string tension does the exact opposite. String Gauge-The higher the gauge the more spin, feel, and elasticity but less durability. The lower the gauge the more power and durability, but less feel. String Composition- Ther are 4 types of strings, they are:Natural Gut, Synthetic Gut, Polyester, and Kevlar. Natural Gut-most playability but breaks easily. Synthetic Gut-Used by most tennis players, more durable but has less playability than natural gut. Polyester-High durability and more spin and control. Kevlar-Most durable, but also most stiff. Usually is combined with a softer string to remove the harsh feel.
