    Which Australian Open between 2006 and 2010 do you think was the best? (and the worst for that matter) Personally I was very disappointed with last years Aus Open. For me the best of the past 5 years is definitely 2009. So many great, emotional matches, it was just incredible. Well what do you think?

    I thought 2005 was the Best. I know it's not in your 2006-2010 range, but it was excellent. Hewitt vs. Safin.. Both had incredible runs and played excellent tennis.

    I very much enjoy this tournament for some reason.

    They all were great in their own respects:
    2005 w/ great runs by Hewitt and Safin, still wish Lleyton had pulled that one out;
    2006 w/ the epic run by Baghdatis coming out of nowhere to beat Roddick, Ljubicic, Nalbandian and give Fed all he could handle in the final;
    2007 w/ Gonzo in god mode;
    2008 w/ Tsonga coming from nowhere and putting on one of the best efforts ever in the SF vs Nadal, then Novak taking his first slam;
    2009 w/ the fauxhawk Verdasco and great SF/F;
    and last year though not as epic as the ones before, still had Murray w/ a great run and great performance in the SF, even though he crapped the bed in the final.

    In order for me it'd be.

    1. 2006 (even though I voted 08 I reconsider when thinking of how memorable Baggy was that tourney)
    2. 2008
    3. 2009
    4. 2005
    5. 2007
    6. 2010

    For me, the best was the 2009 tournament. Two five-set epics with Nadal v Verdasco in the semi-final followed by the Nadal v Federer final were breathtaking. Just wish the fifth set of the final wasn't such a let-down - 6-2 it was if I remember correctly to Nadal. :)

    I also thought 2005 was the best over the past number of years. Which is saying a lot since this tournament has had amazing matches every year since.

    To go with the poll options though, I'll go with 2009

    even though it isn't an option the 2005 aus open will always be the best for me. safin vs. fed was the match that turned me from a casual fan into a tennis fanatic.

    Doesn't this depend on who you like more than anything? Most of the aussie opens in the last 5 years have been dominated by 2 people, or mainly 1 person. So if you're a fed fan, it's more of a memorable match, say you enjoyed the roddick thumping in 2007, you would vote for that.

    I think a more effective thread would be to vote for a span where there were different winners with andre and pete in the mix, then you would get a great tournament with varied comparisions than say why you voted for a year that fed beat baghdatis than when he beat murray.

    2009.

    2004 too (even though it doesn't fit the criteria) because of how many in-form top players there were, how open the field seemed, and how many epics there were between top players. Only the final was a letdown.

    2005... Federer vs. Safin was awesome.
    2009 was good tennis, but emotionally an awful time for me, so didn't enjoy it that much.

    2008 - Tsonga run + only time in X years that neither Fed nor Nadal was in the final of a grand slam.

    I mean, both SFs were straight sets beatdowns, but they were quite shocking by their result.

    I agree...Surprising and dramatic throughout...Federer and Roddick OUT to Safin who is fighting to get the title after 2 previous attempts...and a final meeting with Hewitt who the Aussies have mixed feelings about and charismatic Safin who the fans also like. Safin gives a gracious speech saying nothing about himself but lots about Hewitt...almost as much tension in that AO as in the Ivanisevic Wimbledon.
