For me it's the red and white babolat one that you can stick an additional rubber circle into. I dont use the extra piece and i like the way it is. It gives a really nice and crisp thwap when you hit the ball.

Any suggestions for others though? I heard the Pete Sampras O ones are nice and wont fall off easily...

I love the Sampras dampener and the rubberband. Those are the only two that I'd ever want to use. Although I haven't used dampeners in a while, I like those because they feel best and aren't over-dampening. And they're classic, each of them.

I went to Home Depot and bought a few packs of 1/2 inch electrical grommets (4/$1.75). Supposedly Pete used these before Unique made them for him. The dampener that Unique sells (the O ring) is made of plastic. I thought they were pretty stiff, so I went to HD and bought the grommets...they are much softer and made of rubber. They feel great on my racquet and could not play without them...problem is they come off pretty easily (sometimes 1-2 per match or more). I used to use the rubber band and it works great also...never come off.

pete sampras O is the best!
wilson is better but it easily comes off.

    until i thought of something,

what i did is i used a knife and adjusted the wilson dampener so that it would fit well and won't come off. :)

Yeah, drakulie, I just use leather pads (gut mains), and no dampner at all. But if I did, I like the rubberband concept, which of course leads us to another 70s funk song.

Heh, I call the Pete Sampras one the Pete sampras donut...but personally I don't like it, you're better off with a regular rubber one.

Did this for my wife: I used a broken grip finishing band as a rubberband dampener. Tie a knot, turn it over and tie two knots. Looks bulkier than a rubberband, but sort of bad ass. It would look like a butterfly if it were a different color.

    I think It's a personal choice....
You should just try out some vibe-damps until you find the one you like the most....

I personally like the Babolat Custom Dampner. Good with or without the insert.
