Like the majority, I too give a slight nod to Freddy. But there are many other names that deserves mention. Nadal will obviously always be in the conversation. Gonzo's and Delpo's are brutal. I like young Roddick and Tsonga as well.

From prior eras, Agassi, Pete, Lendl and Borg had very dominant forehands. As for pre Borg, I'll leave that to Kiki.. wait..

As much as I love Nadal, I just can't put him over Federer in that department.

Even Rafa himself admitted that he tried to stay away from Rog's FH as much as possible, because if he went there... game over.

Unfortunately, he's done a pretty good job of that over the years:evil:

Another way of looking at it: If you gave these guys someone else's FH from their era how well would they do?

Give Federer the FH of a Gonzalez or Delpo, how much less would he win? I'd imagine not much less. Give Lendl the second best FH of his era - I think he would be far less successful.

Interesting.

Give Edberg Sampras' forehand and he would have been near invincible?

Nadal in his prime, and it's not close. Yes, the older guys should be considered, etc. But the accuracy, spin, placement, etc of Nadal's FH in his prime is second to none. You gotta go back and watch older Nadal film from the mid-late 2000s. It's unreal how accurate he his at that pace.

Because it's a Best FH Of All Time list.

I believe hoodjem is inferring that All Time didn't start with Lendl (c.1980)

A valid point, IMO.
Unless the category has to do with "movement", or "volleying", I generally don't include anyone before the 1980's in the conversation. Tennis was played with wood rackets and gut strings back then. Comparing serve, and groundstrokes from that era, against the era of composite rackets with synthetic strings isn't fair. It's an entirely different kind of tennis, altogether!

All together: "It's an entirely different kind of tennis"

Sampras doesn't belong in this discussion to me at all, and I think people are confusing how his FH played into his overall success (largely from his serve).

He was probably only the 3rd best FH of his American peer group of the late 1980's-early 1990's (behind Courier and Agassi), much less in the GOAT tier for ground strokes.

This post is absolutely absurd.
