I was telling some of the local kids that even the pros have bad days and take bad losses. I was trying to remember some matches where someone was double-bagel but all I could remember off the top of my head was Coria/Youhzny from last year. Who is the best player you know of that was shut out? Did Sampras or Agassi ever get blitzed that badly?

In best of five sets I seem to remember Corretja only getting a game or two off of Hewitt a few years ago at the Aus Open. Do you know of similar beatings taken by a top player?

Great idea for a question. I find it hard to believe that any of the well known players would have ever been double bagled(besides maybe at the beginning of their career), all of them even at their worst should be enough to get at least a game against anyone.

Close to a double bagel.....Safin lost to Ginepri 6-0 6-1 at Indian Wells in 2003. He had food poisoning but played anyway.

Yes Hewitt beat Corretja 6-0, 6-0, 6-1 at the AO a few years back, one of the reasons he hates Hewitt so much, that and the fact that Hewitt continued to yell C'MONN at him despite being up on him so far.

Hewitt DBed Ginepri as well. I remember Gnep saying he really wasnt concerned that much from the loss, it just showed him what more he had to do to improve or something like that. Pretty good attitude I thought, but I wonder what else he thought.

Gregory Carraz just DBed a guy 1st round at the tournament going on in United Arab Emirates. Some wild card dont remember his name nor do I need to.

I saw Samps lose to Santoro like 1&1 or 2&2, that was the worst hit Ive ever seen on him. I heard that Agassi would lose bagel sets often at the beginning of his career.

In front of my computer, obviously
Ginepri was bageled by Hewitt at the Cincy Masters in 2002. I spoke to him about that match at the Houston Clay tourney last year. He told me that it was the first time he played a main stadium match on live TV and he was plain old nervous (he was 19 at the time). I'm sure it didn't help that Lleyton had just had his run in with ESPN and the ATP and he was full of anger and looking for someone to abuse. Good for Robby that he was able to shrug it off so easily and move on.

I'd say best I can think of is Coria 6-0 6-0 over Youzhny in stuttgart last year quarterfinals or whatever. I mena, youzhny admitted he wasn't playing badly, but that Coria just killed him.

Also, didn't Bruguera actually tripple baggel a guy at the French one year?

Corretja was hacked after that match against Hewitt, and took is revenge by winning their next three matches. "I've got your c'mon for you, you #%@#!"

Agassi did bag sets all the time in his first 3-4 years on tour. He'd get down a break or two, and then start screwing around. He'd then amp it up and drop the guy 6-1 in the third.

Edberg the gentleman once triple-bageled someone in the Australian Open, don't remember the name, though.

Natasha Zvereva lost the French Open final to Steffi Graf 6-0, 6-0; it took about half and hour. If I am not mistaken, Zvereva at the time was the reigning champion in at least 1 Doubles GS, or in any case, ranked extremely high in doubles and very high in singles as well.

Roundiesee - I think you're right. I remember Jimmy beating Lendl 6/0 in the third set in Tokyo in the 80's and saying that it felt good after not being able to win a game off him before.

And Edberg did shut out a fellow Swede in Round 1 at Wimby as Jonas said, but he actually said in his press conference afterward that he felt so bad for the guy he thought about giving him a game in the third set.

The guy Edberg triple-bagled in Wimbledon 87 was Stefan Eriksson. Edberg also beat Yannik Noah 1 and 0 at the 85 Memphis. Noah was one the big ones.

Funny how this thread started with Hewitt double-bageling some clowns, then a few months later Hewitt was double-bageled in the US Open FINAL by Roger. Funny ****.

federer bageled Gaudio... When gaudio was still playing really well. I think it was in 2005 or 2004 at the end of the year masters round robin.

Bruguera beat Thierry Champion 6-0 6-0 6-0 at the '93 French Open.

Champion's highest ranking was #44, so he wasn't a bad player by any means.

Tennis Masters Cup 2004 - The holder of 3 Grand Slams from 2004 (Federer) defeats the holder of the other 1 Grand Slam from 2004 (Gaudio), 6-0 6-0.

Humiliating. At the time people actually thought Gaudio could challenge Federer.

I thought the 2004 USO finals between Federer and Hewitt is worth mentioning: 6-0, 7-6(3), 6-0 ... It was like, Fed: "You know I can just as easily beat you 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 if I wanted to, but the NY fans are going to throw tomatoes at me not you!"

At one point Federer was winning 6-0 5-4, and he was serving, really should have won 6-0 6-4 6-0, rather than letting Hewitt get him into a tie-breaker.

Yeah, it was in Houston, I think. "Epic" is the only term that really describes the ass kicking that occurred on that day.

Oh, the last two sets of the JMDP - Federer match in Australia were 6-0, 6-0.

Federer should have been double bagelled at the FO 08. He worked extraordinarily for them 4 games and was lucky to get them.
