I don't know what kind of strings are on it now (the local shop put them on, probably generic ones...), but it's strung at 58 pounds. I'm looking for more topspin shots but a little more pace. What is the best setup, in your opinion?

Money, for the sake of this discussion, is not taken into consideration.

As for how good I am, I'd say I'm a 3.5 level player. I'm starting to develop more topspin than I used to be able to do, hitting solid slices and am developing a stronger serve.

    My latest setup is:
Mains: Babolat VS Natural Gut 17 @ 55lbs
Crosses: Isospeed Professional Classic 17 @ 55 lbs

Good pop, easy on the arm, and the setup plays great.

    Hope this helps

For looks, cross PSGD Gold with MSV Hex Black. Sick combination.:)

Ok I had Luxilon M2 Pro in it at a tension of 54/53 and it performed superbly.

    Too many different opinions!

Which should be the first setup I try out?

Place racquet for sale online and use proceeds for Pure Drive.

Paces and topspin come from your swing, not from your string.

Use a regular synthetic gut... the tight pattern means you can have control and power. Feel free to add weight if you want more power though.

Or you can mix a poly with a synthetic gut or multifilament.

There is no string combination that will help at all? Certainly there must be a reason why a whole forum is dedicated to strings.

Different strings have different characteristics but what you're asking for will come from TECHNIQUE not from string. There is no string on the planet that will increase your topspin and pace if you don't swing faster.

Well, if I do swing faster, what strings would I benefit from the most?

Well, right now, if you just swing like crazy (Nadal for example) you'll miss everything if you're using gut. If you use poly, you'll be CAPABLE of swinging fast AND getting the ball in. Not to mention some extreme topspin.

Aside from all that, if you want a set-up, I personally liked Wilson K Gut in my friends racquet

What gauge would you recommend, and at what tension? Perhaps a link?
