I would guess this question has been posed countless times. However, I´m going to ask fans on the forum here: who do you condisder to have the best two-handed backhand with focus on two things:
    • technique
    • best looking

let´s say the last 30 years

    My vote goes to Agassi.

I have to say Andre. He clicked with the ball in ways that don't even make sense.

This has been done. The names that will come up are:

Andre, Safin, Fat dave, Djokovic and I also expect some Murraytards to come in and say he has one of the best backhands.

I don't see how anyone's backhand can top Nadal's backhand at AO 2009 and USO 2010. Djokovic's USO 2011 backhand comes close.

"Best-looking" is a relative term because the double just doesn't have the visual appeal of the single.

But for me Safin, in that category and him, Agassi and Djokovic battling it out for the title of most effective.

I never saw Safin play it better than against Fed at the AO.

Rios, Kucera and Kafelnikov all had very nice looking two handed backhands.

In women's tennis I have found Agnes Szavay's two handed backhand to be the most aesthetically pleasing.

Safin plays beautiful tennis. Imo, he is the 2HBH version of Federer!

His backhand was murder at AO 09 but not exaxtly the most asthetically pleasing. It was also not as complete as many.

Don't think his backhand was unstoppable in USO 10 though.

That's Nalbandian you're talking about. :D Dave is pretty underrated in this thread, his backhand is incredibly nice to watch. Can hit clean, flat accurate shots but also pull you wide into the doubles alley like he his hitting a forehand.

The best 2HBH in history in my opinion.

Nalbandian, Safin and Agassi. Very close. Safin's is more powerful but David's the more beautiful to watch IMO.

    Djokovic's is great too.

I pretty much agree with his completely. For me, when I think of best backhands, those are the four names that come up.

No one, well, none comes close to a Safin 2-hander, finito!

Who else can demonstrate it with finesse and demolition like Marat does?

    Nada!

Marat is like Roger, their finesse games comes NOT every so often. Rafa? Oh sure, many can come and grind it and grind it and grind it till they pulverize their knees.

Funny people talk about Murray or even Djokovic in the same breadth with regards to best 2-handers! Obviously, the barometer is only measured in recent success' visibility. Nalbandian as good as he is, is nowhere near Safin's class in the 2-hander discussion.

It is expeccted of Nalbandian to be hitting those ridiculous backhands, great sounding eh? Well, frankly it doesn't compare to a Marat's backhand.8) Daveeed needs to suck it up to Marrrrat! ...if you are still following the title of the thread...technique and aesthetics. Nadal has the technique but aesthetics?

Dave can hit with more spin and with better angles.

Nadal can hit with even more spin than Nalbandian. However, if I can find the RPM tests conducted on the current players (the last 5 years or so). Fed and Nadal are about the same bearing in mind Fed uses a Wilson not a Barbie.

My point being, the thread is about technique and aesthetics not about spin production.

Nadal also has the best right-handed forehand and one-handed right-handed backhand in the game but chooses not to use it for the added challenge. And yet he is still the best player of all time with 22 slams as of 2016, a year which has definitely already happened. That's Rafael Nadal.

To be serious, though, Nalbandian has by far my favorite backhand of all time. The sound and look of it are mesmerizing.

Thanks, I was feeling kind of down and I needed something to pick me up. Never thought I'd say this but one of your comments helped me out a lot.

On topic, for both I'd say Nalbandian

Safins was also great. I remember him hitting a short angle winner but the ball was not really spinny but hit really hard and flat.

the commentator then said "I didn't even know this was physically possible". Amazing shot unfortunately I don't remember which match that was.

Everything else, he is lightyears behind Nalby though.

Nalbandian is Safin's BH with less power and better spin/angles.
