In your opinion what do you think is the best work shift and why...

Personally I'd go with the 8-4 shift. I used to work 3rd shift (12-8am) and I had a problem with getting more then 4 hours of sleep on average a day so I just had enough of it. Also I read in some article that working overnights is a probable cause of cancer, I don't know if thats actually true or not but it was an interesting read.

    Graveyard shift!!! =DD
You might have to stay up really late and sleep during the daytime. But in my case, graveyard shift is a little less hectic than the daytime. Less demand and what not.

I think none of those are good.

Just be a weather man or meteorologist. 7 days / week (a few sick days of course), only 3 hours per day, pay equivalent to an office worker until you get more experience.

My shift is 7 to 3:30. Perfect because I beat traffic both directions.

    I work 7p-7a. Then again, I only have to work 3 days/week.

I like 4-12. You get some night hours (extra money), you get to sleep normally and you have free time in the morning to do whatever you want to do (playing tennis!)

During the summer it's Great! In the winter, not so much...

Depends on your field, I don't have set hours but usually work from 7:30 AM to 7 PM or so and it blows.

I read an article about how working the night shift is linked to cancer, I found it kind of interesting. It says the lack of melatonin which can suppress tumor development is normally produced at night. It also says how sleep deprivation and disruption of our circadian rhythm are also factors. I found this quote kind of interesting

"Night shift people tend to be day shift people who are trying to stay awake at night," said Mark Rea
