personally, i go with davy...
Heres just how solid Davy hits the ball
Clearly-this man is on another level.
Clearly you just picked a great video of Davydenko.
Here's one of Nalbandian
At their best, it's definitely Nalby.
thought you left the boards
I think Davy
I'm voting Nalby here.
I am not sure. At their best Davydenko has the better forehand but Nalbandian the better backhand. They return almost equally well.
Define better ball striking,
Variety of strikes? Dave
They had a good and close match a year ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntOTop3SBbA&fmt=18
I don't think that Davydenko has the better forehand.
IMO the Nalbandian forehand is one of the most underrated grounstrokes on tour.
Unfortunately the combination of taking it early, flat trajectory and acute angles make it very error prone on bad days, which we all know Nalbandian has more often than Davydenko.
Nalbandian has been able to keep up with Federer in crosscourt forehand rallys a few times in the past, a feat only few other players were able to do match (f.e. Djokovic at his best).
consistency aside, Nalbandian own davydenko in every aspects of ball sriking, angle, touch, spin.
Their initials are reversed
Davydenko wins this because of his consistency and accuracy and overall his ground strokes are more reliable, but not as flashy, obviously
i think i mean "cleaner", which i think translates to precision...
nalbandian, as said earlier his forehand is underrated, when they are playing their best tennis. nalbandian is way better then davydenko. Do not forget davydenko's serve is better. so he has a better setup, for the ground game.
you must be yoking!
Davydenko only has consistent groundstokes and just grinds and grafts on the tennis court. Nalbandian is aggressive and is the better shotmaker out of the two.
i haven't seen many matches of davydenko, but the matches i've seen, he served pretty well. Nalbandians serve is very weak...
Davydenko can get outplayed by anyone in the top 6 on the baseline, nalbandian doesn't.
Man, nalbandian really should lose some weight as he could be a contender for all slams, he should have hired Larry Stefanki.
Agree with Dreamkiller.
Call me when Davydenko beats the top 2 or 3 back to back in consecutive tournaments.
Nalbandian is a better ballstriker by a mile!
While Nalbandian is probably the correct answer this thread also proves again how Nalbandian is one of the most overrated players in all of tennis.
You have been living under a rock if you have never seen Nalbandian get outplayed from the baseline many times over by Federer, Djokovic, and even Roddick. Nadal and Murray maybe not but he hasnt played them much, an 18 year old Murray once on grass and another time on his by far favorite indoor surface, and Nadal 2 out of 3 times indoors during the month of tennis of his life.
Better - Nalbandian
More consistent - Davydenko
The people who voted Nalbandian dont know the definition of ballstriker. Nalbandian hits with a lot of spin just like many other Argentines. Davydenko is one of the cleanest hitters in the game and takes it way earlier than Nalbandian. Clearly Davydenko.
ball striking wise - comparable.
but nalbandian just has better point construction, better court sense, tactics. more varied shots, can play at net etc.
davydenko plays the same way all the time - its effecitive but when he plays a guy who is uncomfortable for him - he is totally lost.
My thoughts exactly, I was just about to post this and you had me beat. Nalbandian at his absolute peak would beat Davydenko at his in terms of pure ball striking ability...but in terms on consistent ability to deliver it it has to be Davydenko. At times you can't even count on Nalbandian do strike the ball solidly in back to back to games...at least Davydenko, even if his is not as good..can do it on a more consistent level.
