Yeah Steinbach against Childers is big mismatch. Callahan hasn't been as sharp lately as he was earlier in the year so his match with Bazarnik might be a tough one.

wow, Illinois has a real chance. What a win this would be for them. And finally stop the Buckeyes 185-home winning streak.

Metka has turned it around on 4 - Hiltzik seems to have recovered from that poor 2nd set. Match could go either way

Buckeyes in control now it seems. Illinois had a real chance there for a while. Need two comebacks now.

Better performance from Pollanen or Hiltzak still working his way back from injury? He did get smoked by Stakovsky in his first match back...

Yes I was there Chris, really played badly at a few spots so 3-4 was a fair result.
Monette was again out, apparently with an elbow injury. I thought they could make a push to top 45ish and a chance at post season but not looking too likely now.

here are my late updates..had no time this week

    1)
Ohio State , had a tough day vs a surprising Nwestern squad, but then beat the Illini to hold alive their home and Big10 winning streak
road trip this weekend at Wisconsin/Minnesota plus a nice SEC-trip to Kentucky on Wednesday

    2) Illinois , very tough team, great team, just got by at Penn State, fought so long at columbus, and now won at Kentucky
    meet both Michigans this weekend

    3) Penn State , nearly beat Illinois, tough match then outfought NWestern, surprising year for the Nittany Lions, they are a nice Top25 team, but not more in my eyes, do also the northern trip to Wiscy plus Minnesota

    4) Michigan, they did me wrong as they nearly beat Lville (but match was over at 0-4 and UM just won the rubber games), plus wins over Iowa and Nebraska, they solidified their 4th pos. here. Still need to take care over teams like NWestern , Minnesota, Purdue in near future

    5) Purdue, highest ranking ever #33 now, won 2 nice games vs Minnesota & Wisconsin, can they also win @ Iowa and Nebraska this weekend?

    6) Nwestern, 2 tough losses 3-4 to both Ohio State and Penn State. Sad for them they lost earlier to Purdue. 'needs to beat both Michigans this weekend to have any chance for a NCAA place.

    7) Minnesota, , lost at Purdue but beat Indiana, thats a good sign, OSU and PSU ahead...bad weekend i fear

8.) Indiana, beat wisconsin, but lost to Minnesota, which should ve sealed their deal with ncaas...at nebraska and at iowa this weekend..nothing to win but all to lose...

    9) MSU ,got must wins vs Nebraska and at Iowa, tough illinois trip ahead together with Nwestern (also Illinois)

    10) Nebraska, lost both games this week, they ve their 2 wins over Wisconsin, thats all

    11) Wisconsin, nothing to say after home losses to IU and Purdue

    12) Iowa, 4 game losing trip...will play both Indianas this weekend ( Purdue), should lose both

Purdue takes the point over Iowa.

Illinois takes the point over Michigan State. Illinois has video for the first time but it's tough to see too well with the match indoors on those dark blue courts with the blue border around them.

Ohio State 5-2 over Minnesota. Looks like Jack Hamburg was missing for Minnesota. I think he is usually about #3.

Nebraska finally got the link working - Nebraska took the doubles point in a TB at 3. Monette is back in the lineup.

Big step up from 5/6 to 2/3. Whereas he was wearing guys down last year, this year he is often playing a caliber of player who can hit through him.

the pos 4 to 6 you really can tire the players..the winner with less errors....from 3 to 1 ...everyone is a big hitter

Yes he was and a big loss for Minn. Especially because he is very strong in doubles. Gophers could have put a scare into OSU with him there.

Hope he can somehow play today against PSU. Unlike most years, gophers are strong at the top but lack depth and it has cost them several matches.

3 tiebreaks in Illinois vs Michigan for the doubles point.

edit: Wolverines take it. 7-0 blanking on court 3 and saved a match point on court 1 at 5-6. and won 8-6

Penn State takes dubs over Minnesota. Gophers headed towards 3 or 4 1st sets.
Indiana takes the point over Iowa and is looking good early on in singles.
Northwestern takes the point over Michigan State. Still early in singles - Pfister still out for MSU.
Purdue takes the point over Nebraska.
Ohio State takes it over Wisconsin
Michigan takes it over Illinois. Illini about to take the 1st set on 1, 3, 4. Michigan about to take the set at 5 and 6. #2 is 3-3 in the 1st

funny both teams flipped their 1/2 Singles from their Indoor Meeting, although Gosea turned the tables on Petrone this time.

Looked like Indiana was going to run away with it now Purdue has turned the tide taking 4 2nd sets in matches where they dropped the 1st.

Big10, teams have settled down, the top is on top and bottom is bottom (only Michigan is a real tumbling team right now)

    1)
Ohio State , their home and Big10-streak is still alive and should be alive until next season at least, their UK -loss hurt for overall rankings, but not in the Big10

    2) Illinois , took out both Michigans, a strong no.2, also Penn State right now holds the Big10 2nd place in standings

    3) Penn State , they are now even a strong candidate for hosting a regional, have not lost since MArch 11th, @ Purdue tomorrow could be a classy one

    4) Purdue, good fightback vs their rivals IU yesterday, won a match they nearly lost, PSU and OSU come into town this weekend.

    5) Nwestern, beat both Michigans, should go dancing now

    6) Michigan, after losses to Illinois (o.k.) and Nwestern, they drop 2 places, they are just not good enough anymore, if they lose to the Gophers this weekend, i bet they not make the ncaas

    7) Minnesota, , lost vs PSU and OSU, okay, but now need to take care of both Michigans as they ve only one good win (vs Drake)

8.) Nebraska, nearly lost to iowa...but took dow Indiana..good win...great matches ahead, still play the Top3 of Big10...

9.) Indiana, good fight yesterday @ Purdue, nearly got it..but still lost, before that nearly lost to 'Iowa and Lost to Nebraska...they drop now behind a team like Nebraska

    10) MSU , not a chance @ Illinois and @NWestern, the 8th to 10th placed teams are changeable, Indiana lost to Nebraska, MSU beat Nebraska and MSU still plays Indiana.

    11) Wisconsin, cannot beat anyone aside of Iowa...but both Michigans come into town, i ll give Wisconsin at least a chance

    12) Iowa, 7 game losing trip...and still play 4 of the top 5 in big10..season is over. and 3 of their top players are seniors......nearly upset Nebraska yesterday

Mateus Silva has been beast at 6 for Purdue. He's 14-1 in the spring with his only lost a 3 setter to Baylor Vince Schneider. Today is his 5th match in a row posting a bagel set and he's done it in 7 of his last 9 matches.

Don't worry Nittany Lions. You might have actually won this. Just whine to the Big Ten again. Maybe they will say Silva shouldn't be playing 6. You're not out of it yet!
