women's team starts today too. Northwestern wildcats are supposedly favorite in this one
Don't see any live scoring on the Indiana/Minnesota match - should have started 40 minutes ago.
me too...not there..or no results...
it s online now
Minnesota takes the doubles at least according to the livescore page
The live stats genie just reversed it - IU takes the point
Hilarious but I'll take it!
IU threatening again to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
The score at 6 hasn't changed in over 30 minutes.
Chalk up another failure for college tennis. There is no possible way the casual sports fan would be interested in following something this inept.
The conference tournaments are failing so far. It's probably because its people who haven't done it all year.
It's a conundrum when following something I love causes so much angst, and when I realise how much happier I am when its off season. These are the days I wonder why I follow college at all. If the people in charge don't give a @@@@, why should I?
MN - Ind match going down to the wire once again. Though not sure what's happening with #6 singles. Either the updates are lagging behind or just a really long match.
McCoy may be serving for it at 6 for IU
He was at 3-4, then 5-4, then 6-5. The minimum service break situation would be on serve now, but who knows. I don't see a server arrow.
McCoy wins it we think 7-6. That must have been a 3 hour match.
Great win, Matt McCoy is a local kid who committed to Bradley then came here when the coach left before the season. Very happy for him.
Early matches going indoors due to rain
Interesting lineup for Ohio State if they stick with it - Steinbach from 6 to 3, Diaz at 4, Callahan at 5, and Metka down to 6.
Odd for Metka to be at 6. I would think his bigger game would be more dangerous to higher position players.
Amazing what Ty Tucker gets away with.
Amazing is one word for it, yes.
Northwestern take the doubles which could prove to be huge
That intrigued me as well, we'll see if it gets changed as the single's portion plays out however...
I had heard an unsubstantiated report that Metka has been dealing with some injuries, and wonder with the different lineup rules in the Big Ten, and especially the incident with the Illini loss via lineup challenge at Penn State, wonder if Tucker may be playing things safe against possible lineup challenges.
I'd be very surprised if Purdue won this one.
Doubles point finished 30 minutes ago in both matches yet no singles updates yet. Come on Michigan State get it going.
Indoor venue can accommodate both of the quarterfinal doubles simultaneously at 10 am.
will need to adjust for the single's portion indoors or if weather cooperates move outdoors.
Michigan State has a nice indoor facility. One of the best ones I have seen. They should have a better team
I try to get people on a Clemson forum interested in the tennis team. People who usually only care about football and slightly basketball. It's very hard when I have to keep explaining live scoring mistakes and no-shows
Scores seem to be working again or at least some are posted
Looks like they are only playing 4 singles matches at a time.
So each quarterfinal match is allotted 4 courts, for 1,2,4,5 singles?
MSU has 8 indoor courts. Good idea to split it 4 and 4 rather than give all 6 to one match at a time. Also I kinda like the 1,2,4,5 instead of 1-4 which favors teams that are top heavy.
Pollanen and Diaz crushed again.
Ohio State better watch out. If they were playing Penn State they would be screwed. It would be hilarious if their 10-year home winning streak ended with a Penn State whiny Big10 over turn.
Indiana fighting for a doubles point
That would have to wait for next year. The Big 10 tourney is at Michigan State, so the home winning streak is safe for now (assuming no one upsets them in the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament).
Illinois takes the doubles
Everyone is shivering in fear of Penn State now. lol
Michigan up 2-1 on Penn St.
How did Michigan get away with putting Vlad Stefan at #4, when he played 1/2 most of year.
Another Penn State Protest Special, coming right up!
Because he loses every match
Anyone know what happened PSU-Mich? Scoreboards showing 3-1 to Michigan and tourney home page says Michigan play Illinois tomorrow.
Michigan won 4-2 (assuming no protest).
I was kinda looking forward to a Illinois Penn State rematch.
Ohio St up breaks at 1 & 3 dubs.
Blake Bazarnik whipped him 6-3 6-1 today.
Illinois 4-0 over Michigan. It should be an interesting final tomorrow.
Lineup for tomorrow
1. Kobelt/Steinbach vs. Kopinski/Guignon
2. Metka/Pollanen vs. Hiltzik/Gosea
3. Callahan/Diaz vs. Bazarnik/Jesse
1. Kobelt vs. Hiltzik
2. Pollanen vs. Gosea
3. Steinbach vs. Kopinski
4. Diaz vs. Bazarnik
5. Callahan vs. Guignon
6. Metka vs. Jesse
Regular season - Ohio State 5-2
1. #3 Guignon / Kopinski (ILL) vs. Kobelt / Steinbach (OSU), 7-7 (3-3), unfinished
2. Metka / Goles-Babic (OSU) def. Gosea / Hiltzik (ILL), 8-7(2)
3. Callahan / Diaz (OSU) def. Bazarnik / Jesse (ILL), 8-4
1. #23 Farris Gosea (ILL) def. #8 Peter Kobelt (OSU), 7-6(4), 6-2
2. Herkko Pollanen (OSU) def. #9 Jared Hiltzik (ILL), 4-6, 6-0, 6-3
3. #42 Tim Kopinski (ILL) def. Chris Diaz (OSU), 6-3, 6-1
4. #109 Kevin Metka (OSU) def. Ross Guignon (ILL), 6-3, 6-4
5. #97 Hunter Callahan (OSU) def. Blake Bazarnik (ILL), 2-6, 6-3, 6-4
6. Ralf Steinbach (OSU) def. Julian Childers (ILL), 6-1, 7-6(3)
Looks like an edge to Ohio State. Illinois would need to win 2-3-4 and then pick up either the doubles point or #1 singles. More likely, Ohio State wins.
