It seems there's many schools outside the Big10 looking to add players at the semester. More than I've noticed in the past. I'm anticipating some surprise adds in January.

So who wins the Big ten this coming season? OSU seem to have lost respect but I have to think it is theirs to lose.

With the 2 teams being fairly even on paper I'd have to give the edge to Illinois because they host the regular season meeting and they host the Big 10 tourney and right now we don't really know how good Di Feo is going to be since he hasn't played yet.

Purdue had three commits today on TRN, but no announcement from the school's web pages on a holiday. A Czech, a Hungarian, and a Chilean. I assume they are eligible for this spring, but the eventual announcement should clear that up.

OSU could get a bump by Pollanen, he just easily beat Justin Shane out of UVA. Good result in my eyes. Do not know if Torpegaard will help immediately? He has got talent!

    nice adds by Purdue
D.Sochurek, could help in Doubles and maybe at 5 or 6, but nothing great
B.Ugarte is a blue-chip , he was Top50 Juniors and just was Top800 in the Pro Circuit , amazing add by Purdue !
G.Madarasz, was 150 juniors and was 618 in the Pros !!! Another Blue-Chip shocker here. How deep is Purdue at the rest? Could really trouble the top teams here ! (They lost their longtime-No.1/2 player in Simon Tatarczyk, but the new ones should be better as him!)

No, Purdue signed them even though they are not eligible.

Seriously, they might not be eligible to play for four years, but they could provide a boost to Purdue for two or three years.

Illinois is looking very good this year. Vukic and the younger Hiltzik are going to be major additions.

Difeo is an excellent player and Torpegaard is impressive, but wild. Gonna be fun for the first time in a long time.

It'll be interesting to see who is left out of the starting 6 for Ohio State out of DiFeo, Torpegaard, Pollanen, Steinbach, Callahan, Diaz, and Metka.

But no way they will be eligible for this year. I'm sure they will have to sit one year.

Great observation tdawg, and based on the level of competition at the OSU Varsity indoor tennis center, would not shock me if it was the player who is highest ranked in the most recent ITA poll, Chris Diaz!

Great win for Pollanen in the futures tourney vs. J. Shane. It will be interesting to follow Herkko's career, talented European Freshman who had his early struggles, but now appears as if the light has come on.
Same light theory can be applied to Steinbach's soph season.
I know Tucker would love to see the seniors, Metka and Callahan finish their collegiate careers strong.
Torp win over Illini Hitzlik in the fall regional was an eye opener.
Would love to see Canadian DiFeo as a major contributor for Buckeyes this year.
Looking at the schedule the NCAA's all time record for consecutive home wins in any sport will be challenged by Kentucky (1/29), Notre Dame (2/21) and OKLAHOMA (3/6). Realize everything good comes to an end but would rather it end later than SOONER.

Diaz was who I was thinking as well unless Di Feo isn't ready to go or someone else isn't 100%.

I doubt Diaz will be the odd man out for this season. Although he had a dip last season, Tye Tucker seemed to be comfortable enough with putting him at the upper half of the lineup throughout. It seems Diaz has had a return to form too based off of preseason results.

Originally, I thought Torpegaard wouldn't have started as his initial results weren't standout, but Regionals proved me to think otherwise.

I see either Callahan or Metka not starting this year. I personally think Callahan will be in the singles lineup because I think he's a more natural singles player, but it could also be the other way around due to how clutch Metka was last season.

Metka's serve and volley is so unconventional nowadays that many will struggle against him because they don't ever see it or practice against it.

Looking at last season's results it'd be hard seeing either on the bench. Metka was as clutch as it got last year winning that match against Kwiatkowski at the NTI's and then fighting off match points against Alford in the Round of 16 at the NCAAs. It will be interesting to see who Ty plays.

It will definitely be interesting and it's not really a bad situation to be in. I'm a big fan of how the team is shaping up so far.

I also think that the Buck's doubles lineup is a bit peculiar. I expect Metka/Steinbach to be #1, but don't know what to expect about the rest. I do like the Callahan/Diaz team, but things could change when factoring in DiFeo, Pollanen, and Torpegaard who could potentially be the best singles players on the team.

BTN shows the conference championship match on tape delay for both men and women but that's about it.

Doesn't look like Michigan is going to add any - the season preview that the school just put out says they'll have 7 on the team this year with no hint of anyone else.

Don't overlook Minnesota this year. They have their entire lineup back and added two excellent freshman who are already ranked in singles (they met in the Big 10 Indoor finals). Add this to Leondro Toledo (ranked 17th) and a couple of ranked doubles teams and the potential is definitely there.

DiFeo isn't in the lineup vs. Xavier tonight.
He is listed on the official roster.
Maybe saving him for ITA kickoff this weekend.

Quite possibly the worst recap I've seen from a major program - they couldn't even bother to list who they played on each court. Shame, shame IU.

    Doubles
    No. 1 Sam Monette/Daniel Bednarczyk 4-6
    No. 2 Chris Essick/Stefan Lugonjic 4-5
    No. 3 Sven Lalic/Raheel Manji 4-6

    Singles
    No. 1 Sam Monette 6-2, 6-4
    No. 2 Daniel Bednarczyk 7-5, 6-2
    No. 3 Raheel Manji 0-6, 3-6
    No. 4 Matt McCoy 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-3
    No. 5 Sven Lalic 4-6, 4-6
    No. 6 Stefan Lugonjic 6-4, 6-2

The IU media have never put much into the tennis coverage, seems they have managed to downgrade which is an achievement.

McCoy is a local Bloomington kid who committed to Bradley but their coach left so he de-committed and I believe walked on at IU and appears to be progressing pretty well.

the Big10 is good this season, with 3 teams at Indoors alone plus some middle average teams behind them like Minnesota & Northwestern. And i still feel MSU and UM can win also matches especially at home.

Wonder why Konrad Zieba hasn't been playing for NW. He wasn't even listed on the depth chart last weekend after being decent last year at the 2 and 3 spots. He is still listed on the roster but has been playing future's all month in Florida. Not sure how he can be enrolled in school if he's spent the month in Florida.

Good win for Minnesota over Oklahoma State. They can make a push for #3 in the big ten this year, will battle with Penn State and Northwestern for that position.

Very convincing win. But top2 are too good for them. But Gophers can fight with Nwestern and psu. All five easily will make ncaas and also a push for 2nd round maybe a shot for more with a good draw

I am not surprised that Minnesota won (a little surprised at the score). They have a very experienced team with 4 of the 6 six starters being seniors (3) and junior (1), with some upper end talent.

The two newcomers (freshman) are both ranked and may end up being their 2nd and 3rd best players by the end of the year. I have no idea how things will turn out in the Big Ten, but I do know it will take a very good team to beat them.

Looked like a starter, Meraut, was missing from OSU line 4. They are playing a "smart" lineup hiding Spec down low. I would expect them to try and finish 3rd in the B10 this year, battling with PSU and NW. Define convincing too Chris-Swede? 5 matches went 3 sets...convincing that they are showing a lot if improvement at least! The coach there has been almost 10 yrs and has not performed nearly as well as the previous coaches. This looks like their best year coming up. But, then again, Texas sat guys in the kickoff and still spanked them.
