I've always wondered why almost all the players not using tournagrip use a white overgrip instead of a black one?
    Do they feel any different?
    Is it a sponsor thing?
Arn't black over grips easier to manage?

    I just don't no :confused::confused:

    because white looks more clean.
and also white matches all racket colors, as black would sometimes would clash with the color of the racket

At least I use white overgrips because they look better than black :) And because my racket is the K61T90

Well, considering the pro's you see on television are probably all getting grips for free in an abundance, maintenance is not really an issue. Sampras used to change his tournagrips every few games.

    Hey Frankauc,

There is a black supreme black overgrip - but it looks like only in the 3-pack.

it's an endorsement issue. Black overgrip will confuse viewer and mix up with replacement grip, which are mostly black, see hewitt

White overgrip is more endorsable and won't mix up with replacement grip

plus white grip is more visible on overlapping when being applied, I had a hard time judging the amount of overlap when gripping black over grip

There have been some posts here and there stating that different colors of same model overgrips do in fact feel and perform differently. You have to realize that what makes colors can vary material makeup properties as the color can at times be an additional interacting factor. It would be like adding oranges to an apple pie. Othertimes it could be like adding cinnamon to an apple pie. One complements, the other detracts from the "taste". For example, white is often achieved by adding Titanium Dioxide. This isn't simply color. It's a finely ground mineral. Compare this to black which can be made using an oxide or carbon. Different material and thus, potentially, different interactions with the base material.

However, different colors don't mean there definitely will be a difference only that there may be. Ultimately all you can do is try out different colors and see how they feel and perform for you. I got some Yonex Supergrap in different colors for myself to see if there's a difference.

The reason most overgrips is white is because the dyes used to make them black reduces performance. ie, poorer grip, absorbency, tack, etc.

This is why Wilson Pro overgrips are only available in white and light colors.

On another note, it's easier to tell when you need a new one when its white, because you can see it getting dirty.

No, the main reason is because of the dyes.

Huh? How can black or white clash with any colour? Notions of colours clashing are based on disharmonious relationships on a particular colour wheel... White and black aren't colours, so they can't clash.

The problem I've had with black is that, it would start to deteriorate and the color would end up on my hand. This was the yonex supergrap.

I speak from personal experience. One time, I bought some black-colored Babolat overgrips and compared it to the white version of same thing. The difference is quite noticeable I would say. The black doesn't absorb as well or last longer. Perhaps it's something related to the color dye that they use, but that's just how I felt.

I have a Babolat AeroPro Drive Cortex and black overgrip just doesn't look nice. White is much better and I prefer it...
