Ok, so I'm watching highlights of the 2010 USO final. Black power ranger Nadal is so sick! As a Rafa fan, this is my favorite type of play, big serve, going for his forehand and being super aggressive. His peak for me as a player. Anyone else agree?

I agree Rafa was at a completely different place mentally at the 2010 US Open compared to the very conservative state of mind he was in at the 2011 US Open. That conservative state of mind began at the 2011 Australian Open when he was hitting the ball very short into the court (watch the Tomic vs Nadal match). Rafa has said since then how low on confidence he was during the 2011 clay season, probably his worst clay season ever, along with 2009.

I think his clay peak was 2005-2008, and his hard court peak was 2009-2011. I really liked the Rome highlights of his match against Coria in 2005 and Fed in 2006.

Only if you like lots of bad errors into the net and over the baseline. Federer is the Kobe Bryant of tennis, lots of missed shots per make. Rafa is the Michael Jordan of tennis - all quality (and Jordan had bad knee tendinitis too).

Federer is about as close as tennis has come to having a Michael Jordan in terms of appeal.

:wtf: How can you be a Nadal fan if you like aggressive play?

When Nadal is confident, he's quite aggressive. I think the fact that he defends so well, plus uses topspin, people overlook it. Being aggressive isn't all about hitting flat and going for a winner right after a return.

If that's true, then Nadal and federer were peaking on clay at around the same time. Most of their matches on clay were really close back then so i guess it just says that their peak clay forms were not that far apart.

I'm not a fanatic, and you're not a new user, so I'm sure you know that. Degrade Nadal all you want, it just makes the people that lose to him look silly. Nadal was very aggressive in that tournament/final and only a troll would disagree. Oh wait....
