I love that commercial
You're referring to the plastic piece that signifies a racquet has cortex. The actual technology is in the handle.
We recommend not throwing racquets as this increases the chances of them breaking.
Sorry to hear you go, but have fun out there!
have a link?
Not to derail the thread, but have you seen this VW commercial? It is now my favorite:
Here's the French Model ad:
haha thanks those just made my day.
Have a question for you about Babolat bags. I recently switched over to playing with the new 2013 Aero Pro an like to have a bag that matches the brand of racquet I use. TW has a great deal on the previous version of the Aero bags so I picked up the 9 pack. I was coming from a Head 6 pack bag and found the Aero 9 pack to be a bit bigger on the outside but unfortunately about the same size inside. I don't really care to go to the 12 pack as I feel they look way too large for a rec player to tote around.
Do you have any experience with the new revamped line of Aero bags? On TW, it says they are a bit wider and not as tall. Are the new bags larger? Would you suggest another Babolat 9 pack bag, like the Team line? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
Also, any news on redesigned bags to go along with the new logo for Team and Club bags?
Hi there welcome Babolat Official!
When is the Aero Pro Drive going to be discontinued?
Why discontinue Babolat's top selling racquet?
I think it's rumored the AERO STORM will be discontinuted.
I meant the Aero Storm.
Ummm not rumor - Aero Storms are gone.......stock in the stores is it.
New line of sticks coming to a shop near you 2014........
Meh.... I hit with mine today... Not a bad frame, I enjoyed hitting with it.
Until last month, I used the old Aeropro 9 pack. I agree it was pretty tough to get 9 racquets in there. In fact, mine was usually full with far less.
We came out with a new 12 pack and we've been testing them out with this new LSS stap system. At first I thought it was a gimmick (and too $$$) but I actually really like it. I carry 4 racquets, extra clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. I still feel that the 12 is not as big as some other brands 12. So it fits my needs great. TW has a pretty good deal on the old Aero 12s right now.
The guy next to me uses the Team Line 12 and it holds about the same amount of gear. If you are playing matches with a decent amount of equipment, our 12 is not too big (but then again I work for Babolat, as some people will point out).
Does that help?
Correct, no new Aerostorms.
We just released a new one for 2013 and it is the most popular frame in most markets...so it'll be a while.
They will be out this spring!
16 x 15?
Is Babolat experimenting with 16x15 string patterns (Steam S style)?
The R&D teams are always testing & creating new technologies and we've been a proponent of open string patterns, so we'll have to see what they come up with next.
Are strings likely to break quicker with a 16 x 15 string pattern? While I found the Aero Pro Drive and its open string pattern was good for power, I was going through Big Banger in a few days when I trained seriously - not very feasible if you're not stringing your own rackets.
I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but in my experience, the more open string pattern, the quicker they break (16x19 compared to 18x20).

Yes that does help. I know my post was vague as it was hard to explain exactly what I was looking for, so thank you. I appreciate your feedback and opinion.
My son is getting 4 new Aeropro Drive sticks thru Babolat Jr partial sponsorship (Thank You) He has been using Prince Graphite for 4-5 years with Luxilon Al Power 16 full bed (55 lb main/51 lb cross). Would you recommend the tensions he needs for RPM Blast 16, full bed? If we do hybrid with RPM Blast in the main, which non natural gut string would you suggest for the cross? What tensions should we use?
Some earlier threads mentioned that RPM Blast would lose tension over time. In your experience, how many hours RPM Blast 16 would last before losing one lb of tension? My son likes to hit balls hard with spins. With Al Power 16, he would break string in 4-5 hrs. We hope that RPM Blast would last 7-8 hrs.
Congrats and welcome to the family!
If he was breaking a poly in 4-5 hours before, I would replicate the conditions with RPM before mixing any variables. If he wants more spin and can handle it, then he can loosen the tension. If he finds he needs more pinpoint control, he can raise the tension.
We recommend hybrids for most people, unless they are breaking strings in under 14 hours.
Let me know how it goes!
^^^^ I'd recommend RPM Team. It's a bit softer for junior players, and it seems to hold tension better than Blast.
Wanna hybrid it? Use Xcel for a softer feel, or N.Vy for a cheaper alternative. Both come in black to keep that all black finish.
Do u mean 16 x 15 or 16X19?
Do u mean 16 x 15 or 16X19?
I think he was saying he has played with the Aero (16x19) but is postulating on string life in a 16x15.
I'm guessing to take advantage of the technology updates?
And Rafa is back and has announced a new model and changes to his personal specs too.
The APD has somewhat got a famous reputation for being THE spin racquet. Wilson's now boasting this claim with their new steam frames with a 16 by 15 string pattern. With out being forced to talk lowly about a competitor - why hasn't Babolat bothered about reducing the amount of strings for more supposed spin?
Hey Dan, you do know Yvon (the head stringer at the Roger's Cup and for the Canadian Davis Cup team)?
saw him this weekend trying to fit a Babolat Star 5 into a Dodge Caravan. Think it took 5 guys to help him fit everything in in the end.
The news story about Rafa playing with a new model was a journalist watching the Babolat Play&Connect video from Roland Garros last year....and thinking he was switching.
For every advantage, there is a drawback. I.E. tighter string pattern, more control but less spin/power. We find our products offer a nice range of options and balance between the demands of products.
I have not hit with the new Wilson racquets but probably will in the next couple weeks. It sounds like a cool innovation and I'm curious to see how it plays. I've always liked open string patterns (hence playing with Babolat and the Presitge Pro). I'm also curious to see which pro players use it.
I do not know Yvon, but he must be doing something right because Canada won their first round and is in the R16 for the first time ever.
The 5 Star is big. You are correct. Wasn't there so can't comment on strength of guys helping him. Just kidding.
I haven't talked to stringing equipment R&D in a couple months, but it is only natural to think reduction of size is something they are working on.
i love the star 5. how much are they going for now?
Again, I used to represent Aga and was at this match...they don't show her clamming the ground and cracking the racquet the point before. But the force is strong in her!
Any updates on RPM Dual?
was at the tie the whole weekend. the crowd was crazy. marc lopez rlu surprised me with how smooth his forehand is.
got a bunch of pics on my instagram account
yvon pulled a.couple of all nighters during the.tie to keep milos and rveryvody else's rackets on schedule. I definitely did a doubletake when he told me hes the only team stringer.
for him the issue is more about the custom tariffs he has to pay for the machine at away ties than the size...
Oh no need to apologize, the post was just for fun since I found it.
And yes the force is strong with her.
In the US, scheduled for mid April, we're trying to push it up. I hit with 16 yesterday strung at 45 (constant pull). Liked it more than my original test but still prefer RPM Blast.
Lucky! I really enjoy DC matches. I might have to head to Boise for US/Serbia, especially if Djoko plays.
Hi Babolat Official. It great to see you onboard here! I don't know if anyone has asked you this already, but I am wondering why Babolat changed from their regular natural gut which was so great, to making it with the BT7? The BT7 makes it much stiffer and it loses of lot of the great playability the string used to have. I have had to find other companies that come close to what the Babolat natural gut used to be like. A lot of people on the forums here complained about this, so it would be great to get your input.
I'm not quite sure if this belongs here, but do you guys give out any sort of sponsorships/player packages to club teams on college campuses?
all the best,
We're constantly looking to improve our products. Some people like the new formula and some don't (see this thread and others on the forum). With any product, we do extensive testing with tour players, pros, coaches. The new formula has to do with the threading of pieces of cattle intestine and increases durability by 15% (according to our testing).
Some shops still carry the old formula if you think you prefer it. When I was last in France I had our product manager walk me through the difference. It is a proprietary technique and although there will be strong backlash to this statement, it has not changed the way it plays if you don't know you are playing with a new version.
Not to club teams, sorry.
despite my harsh comments earlier in this thread, i found a first gen pure drive in the attic, fixed it up, added lead around the hoop so its 350swingweight , its a beast.. spin power everything..
question is do you know where i can buy more new first gen pure drive +'s?
if not is the new pure drive much of an improvement over the first gen?
i take back the harsh comments
Any news on the Play & Connect racquet? Such as a release date
this is true i believe. i string for the guy that used to be hitting partner with Lendl and with over 8 stringjobs of BT7 he said nothing about it playing different, and he has used gut for a long time
I 100% disagree. When I bought the gut with BT7 I was not expecting any difference in the way it was going to play. But I was shocked at how much stiffer it felt. Strung in the same racquet, at the same tension, by the same stringer, on the same machine.
P.S. I've been using Babolat VS Gut since the juniors.
We've noted your previous comments and sent them to the product team. Have a great weekend.
Old school. I love it. We don't keep any in stock. You might try calling TW and see if they have any old demos?
