Fear not. You spoke (many of you, quite passionately). We listened. We want products that meet all player needs. Infer away. You didn't hear it from me.

Not a stupid question at all. I believe you are correct.

Some players prefer a tighter string pattern, some a looser. We aimed to address both in the new line.

    Yes, almost yes, yes.

For every advantage, there is a drawback. We try to find a balance of all with one or two advantages accentuated in each frame: power (PD), spin (APD), control (PS), a wonderful mix (new hybrid frame line).

Nice! Congrats on the job you're doing here Babolat Off.. Also involved with sports and marketing at a high level, and appreciate your info. Hope you can help me here. Any open string pattern coming up (it seems like that's the way the industry is going) ??? I'm down to my last Donnay Pro One International (TW edition) and REALLY wouldn't like to go back too the POG Mid. But that seems like my only only option to the near future... I tried the PS Ltd Ed., but the pattern was to dense to my liking. Thanks!!!!!!

    Daniel,
how is the flex in the new hybrid line going to be?
High stiffness like PD or lower?

"a wonderful mix [of power, spin and control] (new hybrid frame line)"

of course he got us all salivating with this promise! I am curious whether the new line will include a not-so-advanced frame for a 3.5 level player....

    Hi Daniel,

Thanks for being part of the Forum. Any idea when you guys are going to release the Babolat Play racquet that connects to the computer or mobile device? Thanks.

Hi Daniel, I currently am using a babolat pure drive gt strung with prince synthetic gut duraflex at 58lbs. I am entering a tournament (my first!) and would like an identical racket for a spare in case of damage... I notice the puredrive I own (purchased 2011) is no longer available (at least in the UK) would the current pure drive model be a close enough spare strung to the same parameters? Thanks!

We'll have some more open string patterns in the mix, but not to the extreme of some of the other brands.

Coming soon. New line may be used by some players at Open. We have sent frames out but some players are still deciding. You'll know when you see it.

Should be lower than the PD. I have not seen the final spec exact numbers but it feels much more flexible.

    Seriously, who is leaking information?

There will be a skew that should play to this demographic. One of the managers who currently plays 3.5/4.0 and bounced between Pure Storm and 2010 APD found one he very much liked. Can't make any guarantees but we're trying to meet everyone's needs!

We just wrapped the photo shoot and video shoot two weeks ago. Look for me in it. Product comes to US market end of 2013.

We'll have a special testing program for you guys to apply to be a part of that will be announced in the next month (or so) if everything stays on time.

    Good luck!

The PD got updated in 2012. The specs are the same but it now has active cortex. It plays a little stiffer. Some people like it, some don't, some don't notice, some do.

If you can't find an old PD as a backup (maybe TW has some?), maybe give the new one a demo before you commit to purchasing.

Is Babolat selling Pure Drives to Solinco? Isn't this new Solinco Protocol incredibly similar to the Pure Drive? I haven't seen one in person bu by the photos on TW it seems very similar to Babolat's PD.

Thats good, the string wont get worn down as fast as the 99s. Can't wait!

I just looked at it and it does look identical! But when i closely look at the throat of the Protocol it looks slightly bigger than the PD maybe because of the matte paint job? i dont know but it does look similar.

Just a rhetorical question... I just wanted to express my surprise with regards to the striking similarity between the new Solinco Protocol and the PD and I wanted to see whether you had any comments on this topic. I certainly wouldn't expect Babolat to sell a competitor the molds for their best selling racquets...

This has probably already been asked, but what do Babola plan to do to replace the Aero Storm? And when can we expect new models? Thank you!

The last 2-3 pages have a pretty extensive amount of information including some pictures of new test racquets. Seems to be more than they're releasing to the general public but there are some crafty Tt members.

    Here is my recap:
    - 4 different frames. This is a fact.
    - Maybe two different oval sizes? Probably nothing that has not been seen before (no 102 sq in). This is something I don't remember reading but maybe 98 and 100? Not really sure.
    - Different string patterns (probably 2), one is 16 by 19 as seen in the prototype photo and one is a closer 18 by 20.
    - Different weights, my guess is three as we were told of a "range" of weights. Something like 290, 300 something and 320 grams?
    - Lower flex than PD but higher than Pure Control.
    - Name is not "Pure Stryke". That is a fact too.
Feel free to add any info if I got something wrong.

    My ultimate guess is:
    1. 100 sq in oval size, 290 gr strung weight, 16 by 19 string pattern.
    2. 100 sq in, 305 gr, 16 by 19.
    3. 98 sq in (or just 100), 320 gr, 16 by 19.
    4. 98 sq in (or just 100), 320 gr, 18 by 20.

Just a speculation but it's something fun to think about during lunch break.

and 8 strings on the bridge, no matter what. that makes for safer stringing btw if you string your frames yourself.

In the "New Solincos!!!" thread there is a poster there who says the Protocals are from the same mold as the Donnay Formula 100.

It looks like Pauline Parmentier is using the new Pure Storm, not the Pure Strike. However, they do both look very similar (mostly black, and orange). It looks almost like the pure storms made back in 2006 just with an orange color...

Im afraid you are wrong. P.Parmentier is sponsored by LACOSTE. Your Pic is old.
Go to her twitter page. @ppauline86 . You will find a photo of her from today.
She is holding the new frames (black, orange). And they are leaded up at 3 and 9....

I currently use rpm team (I am a junior) and I was warned that blast would be bad for my arm. However, many of my friends use it. What are the differences (other than stiffness)

TBH, any co-poly could be bad for your arm, no miracles here. Well, at least keep it fresh by restringing it every 15 hours or so, and no high tensions it's not worth it with co-polys.

Any clues on what players to watch at the US Open?

Spotted Pauline Parmentier in the qualifying using a new frame, was it the new Pure Strike with no paint job?

    Anyone else?

Thx for the reply, however, NXT was just not durable enough for me, as I would pop it every 2 weeks or so playing 2-3 times a week. Thankfully, I have a very flexy racquet, and I havent had any problems yet

    Hi,

Great discussion about merits or otherwise of racket stiffness, but I have never come across explanation as to what exactly numbers quoted for racket stiffness on TW websites and on rackets actually mean?

We know that using Babolat diagnostic centre we can apply weight/force to tip of the racket fixed somewhere along the handle.
This will cause deflection from original position of the tip, which we be greater for softer racket than the stiffer one.

However how do we arrive at the numbers being quoted. Since there are no units quoted, the numbers are some ratio?

I emailed TW, Babolat and few other manufacturers in the past, but never got a straight answer.

I hope as "Babolat Official" you could use your contacts in technical department to let us know. :)

    thanks and regards,

    Andrew
