Guys please just doe what my sig says and you'll have the best thing in the world, this et up lasted me around 20 hours of tension maintance, i get my strings for free so I stwitch them at the slightest tension drop, i easily could have gone up to 40 hours but just couldn't imagine a string lasting so long but it probably could have because after restringing maybe 0.25 KG was changed so... Just trie it's amazing
I use some lead tape at 9 and 3 and add 6 grams in total, i almost use a bit of protection tape because it looks cool! When it is placed on the black parts of the apd, not the yellow or white. It is amazing and by far the best thing I have ever tried. Just which RPM DUAL was completely black

Some spelling erros but I can't edit it, also want to add, I have 6 2013 APD, none of them has scratches because I take good care and received 2 plus versions of it and both are amazing, tommorow I'll write a review of this but should I open a new thread for it? Or just do it here?

That was a very popular model, but we do not have any in stock. There are no plans to reissue as of now.

We get a lot of requests, with people pointing to the Pure Drive Roddick. We hear you and we're discussing internally.

Congrats on the stash of racquets. I make spleling errors all the time (see what i did there?). I'd say make it a new thread as some users will want to discuss with you. Looking forward to what you have to say!

The Tour version could be Aeropro Nadal, with specs similar to the one Nadal uses. The same could be done witn Tsonga's specs in the extended or plus version that he uses which couid be named Aeropro Plus Tsonga.
Many people would still be interested in the l2013 APD but others would prefer these heavier versions with no need to customize or add lead. Many people, including me, don't know or dont like to use lead or do not want to experiment with customization.I think there are many people who would buy a heavier APD version. Proof oft that is seen in the playtest that Tennis Warehouse did where some testers complained about it being to light.

The advantage of putting VS in the mains is increased power and feel, but you lose durability and spin. For every advantage, there is a drawback (my go to phrase)

I have tried the reverse hybrid (but with RPM 17 & VS 16) in the 2010 APD and an AeroStorm. I was not a fan in the APD, but then again I didn't like a normal hybrid in it either (prefer all poly).

With the Aerostorm, I liked the traditional hybrid, but didn't find enough spin with the reverse. Candidly, I did not toy around with it past two string jobs. Maybe I could have found something by messing with the tensions/gauges more. I did play with a traditional hybrid in the AS for 8 months.

As far as cutting strings out...I'm pretty particular about tension. I play with very thin gauges because I want the string to break before it loses more than 30% of tension (problem with all poly set up). Even when I did not get string for free, I rarely played with a string job for more than 20 hours. Either it broke or I cut it out. I would string my own and for how much I love tennis, figured it was worth the feel.

If you never break strings and want to try the reverse...you're really only using one string job. And as someone who is always wondering if something will help my game more, it will stick in your head the more you don't try it and the more you read about it online.

One thing to remember when hybriding: Gut holds tension really well, poly does not. Some people want the bed the same tension and adjust their string tension accordingly, some want the mains/crosses to play at different tensions.

What is your current string tension, racquet head size, and string pattern?

Perhaps not my most eloquent response. Let me know if you have any other questions or want to bounce some ideas around.

I assume you are talking about RPM Dual....I highly doubt the claims I have heard that it plays like Blast but keeps its tension. I also think the two tone white black bow-tie thing the string has going on is kind of lame...a throw back to the string gimmicks of the 90s.

Hope you pass the idea to your colleagues. If you sell this Tour version (Aeropro Nadal) I won"t hesisate to buy. I want a bit more mass and plowthrough in the APD, I assume others may think alike.

Not going to happen. They are already selling "the one Nadal uses" in thousands upon thousands. And for those 0,1% who can tell it's not exactly true, they are selling Babolat lead tape. By the way, what is RDC stiffness of his actual AeroPro?..

You could be right. But there are thousands also that complain and do not buy because its too light and powerful. In regards to what racket Nadal actually uses and the stiffness rating that is another controversy.:)

That would be amazing, it would save me lot of lead tape and the Name is amazing or maybe AeroRafa, also would save my idea of making limited edition rackets with Rafa on it,

this idea, my string idea and the racket customization idea before this should really be taken extremely seriouse. They are great, would be nice if the tour had Rafa on it like his does instead of APD on it,
    I'd buy another 6! Maybe 12!

I have read that people customize with lead but habve never experienced with this. But, I know that for me the new APD will be too light so I need a guide to customize it. This will be a personal situation as everybody is different but:

1-Do you use your Aeropro stock or do you customize yours? If you customize it, what are your customized specs? Are you already using the 2013 version?

2-I know that Babolat has given figures on Nadal's customization . Can you state what Nadals racket specs, how he distributes lead and the quantities he uses?

3- Is it true that Nadal uses the Aeropro Original version with a paint job? Be honest in your answer, lol.

    Hi Daniel,

Thanks to you and Babolat for posting here; it's great for us to be able to feed opinions directly to the manufacturers.

I'm another who would warmly support the re-introduction of 'Classic' VS gut. If the product team need a nudge in the right direction, do let us know. I'm sure many of us would participate in a sample run if they wanted to judge demand (sold via our hosts TW and TWE of course!).

    Daniel,

Welcome! The fact that you are doing this and that Babolat is letting you do this speaks volumes. So many players feel left out of the loop on tennis gear and the manufacturers who provide the gear it is easy to get a bit jaded. Your willingness to give us all a connection to Babolat is a very strong statement that we do matter!

    Thank you.

Hey Daniel, thanks a lot for taking the time to post here. There's one thing I would really love you guys to take a look. I live in Mexico, and your no-international-shipping policy really makes it hard to get your products around here. I loved your x-cel strings, but having them shipped to someone in the USA and then having them shipped around here is just to expensive and too much of a hassle, so I had to settle on tecnifibre strings. Same thing with frames, bags, shoes, accessories, etc.

There's just a couple of big retailers that have some very limited babolat products available, and usually it consist in a couple of frames, one model of over grips and one or two racquet bags, that's it. I co-owned a tennis shop about a year ago, and trying to get in contact with your official sales guy here in Mexico was harder than talking to the president. I'm sure that there's a lot of business opportunities getting lost just like that, hopefully there's a policy change in the near future.

Would be nice if VS TEAM was in black as well or rpm in natural, will rpm dual be available in only black and white, not completely black?

Sorry about that. The no international shipping is an issue for a lot of people but it protects local markets. Send me your email dbecker@babolat.com and I'll forward it to our distributor in Mexico.

Rafa uses a customized version. He talked about his added weight before Australia a couple years ago. Many of our players customize our racquets. We encourage experimenting and tweaking to find what is perfect for you, as no two players and games are alike.

Product plug: new lead tape coming out 2013. Doesn't leave residue and can be moved around.

We set up the test with TW. We wanted to get some Aeropro Lites in the hands of frequent players knowing they would customize. It is a great base frame.

Hey Daniel! A thought just popped up in my head. What will the PDR be called now that Roddick has called it a day? Will it still be the PDR or will it get some other name?

    1. I put a leather grip on, which probably alters the specs a bit. I haven't tested it but it feels good.

    2. The last I saw from the sports marketing department, which we sent to the press (unstrung): 314 grams, 32.63 centimeters balance point, 316 swing weight. I know we've had our product team in Spain this off season, so he may have tweaked since then but I haven't seen the new numbers.

    3. Rafa doesn't like his right hand (fingers?) rubbing on the plastic "cortex" piece on the throat of the racquet on backhands, so we customize the racquet making it flush.

It will still be the Pure Drive "Roddick." The new PD was just released in 2012. Our products are on a 3 year cycle ("longest in the industry," I get paid every time I point that out). So yes there will be some changes...for 2015. Haven't seen anything yet.

It's a 12 week format with 12 guys. We play once a week and you get a set with every partner on the court (total of 3 sets a night). Move up and down courts the following week based on games won. It's called the "Beer League" because we order pizza and drink beer after...so yes, very substantial. Keeps me sane.

nice format. around here I hit more or less with the same group of guys, ranging from middle of the road 4.5s to former nationally-ranked juniors, but we don't have that kind of setup. as much as I love living in Canada, the local league and tournament aspects of the game is kind of lacking here.

There's a good chance I'll be at a few ATP events in the US next year, and I usually go to the Open for a week to catch the qualies. Maybe we'll run into each other then.

I am a babolat sympathizer. I played a few years with the Babolat Pure Drive before going to the custom VantagenTennis racquets. I think the PD is a great racquet.

Why do you think there are a lot of people, mainly in the US that do not like Babolat? I think that is doesn't happen in Europe,so much. I am from portugal.

I guess people think that babolat does not have enough "players" frames? Is a US vs Rance thing?

    I dont get it.

This initiative is very positive. Congrats.

Hi daniel, please responed to my will VS Team be in black question and rpm dual, mand for the one before asking about lead tape, there is a very good thread about it somewhere on the board, I put 3 grams at 9 and 3 on 6 and use upper protection tape. Helps plowthrough and power. I would love the tour version! Daniel have you sent those 3 "bright" ideas to the babolat team? TNX

Admirable for you to be so up-front about it lush. However, you should now be prepared to give evidence to the TT committee and the House of Un-American Babolatian Activities. :)

    Daniel,

Quite likely you can't fully and openly acknowledge what the more informed around here all know to be fact - i.e., that beneath the paint job Rafa wields the black APD Original. However, before the 'Danger! Will Robinson!' BS detectors start ringing like crazy around TT and its racquets section, perhaps, I don't know, maybe choose your words here very carefully or whatever.

yes and no... because I found the last version of aerostorm a little too stiff. I was hoping Babolat would come up with a slightly flexier version... but i guess that won't happen, and now Daniel is gone for the holidays so we won't get any answer on this.

Some marketing decisions are hard to believe from a player's point of view.... why discontinue one of the most popular and best selling racquet in the 4.0 and above player's market??? Plus it's one of the most stable and consistent racquet I've played with, a real winner! Well, I guess it was a very short experience with Babolat for me, I'll have to stick with another brand and probably a lot of Aerostorm users will do the same. I wonder what will happen to all these young pros and college players I see playing with the aerostorm??

He's probably contractually obligated to say so. There aren't that many differences between them anyway and you can pick them up fairly cheap these days too. Cut him some slack!

A little piece of plastic must be there for the fantasy object in the hands of a junior Nadal to have its full magical power.
