I think using Pebax for the Grommets are great. What HEAD had been doing with their grommets lately has really made scratch my head. ;)
The only thing I question that Babolat has done recently is the BT7. But we dont need to go into that anymore.

I'm excited to try the new Pure Control. I know many, many guys that are hoping it will feel like the older "Lava" Pure Control. Will there also be a 95sq.in Pure Control Limited?

I'm not sure on the specifics of the cows. I do know:
-the cows primary use is not simply Nat Gut
-two cows = one set of string
-60 days to make one set
-most of process still done by hand (and inspected)
-each batch tested and labeled to track any imperfections or consumer complaints

Not offered in US at this time. I'm working on getting the sales guys to bring in a limited run of 95, 95+ and Tour+.

Thanks for the patience guys. The email will be specific to each person so they can download an unreleased version of the app. A lot more moving parts than one would think. It will come sometime in the next couple weeks.

If you're referring to the new 2014 Pure Control Tour Plus, I would instead suggest bringing in the Pure Control (Standard) Plus that is supposed to be part of the European lineup. Its lighter weight may appeal to more people, and those who prefer a heavier racquet can always add lead/silicone to it. Plus, the Standard versions have a more attractive paint job than the Tour versions. Thanks.

Hey longbody G man - long time no see and it looks like you're now in Texas??

I would agree on the 2014 Pure Control paint job being nicer than the Tour version but I have to disagree on the lead/silicone part. Sometimes, there are just only so much you can do with lead/silicone. For some frames, lead/silicone works well but if you can get the weighting right from the factory - it just plays so much better. The Pure Storm/Pure Control is definitely in the latter category.

I'd be interested in the 95. I know several guys that will be very disappointed that the Tour+ is not available. Have you hit with any of the new Pure Controls yet?

Only briefly before my focus switched to the Babolat Play PD. I'll do a comprehensive side by side test with the PS and PC sometime down the road.

With online ordering what keeps you guys from offering full line ups in every country?

I can see where you dont want to stock every store with 12 variants for each racquet, but why limit distribution by country, why can't you allow a special order witout us having to to go to foreign sellers and getting it mailed.

I mean if you are gonna make it anyway, why sell a model in Europe and not USA?

    Pure Control 95....

    Hey Daniel,
Firstly the Pure Storm Ltd is an outstanding racquet, hence why it is a players racquet. So therefore very hard to improve on it if not near possible.
Babolat have done the very best they can and tweaked the technology/material with the replacement Pure Control 95 but kept all the dimensions the same.
Therefore there is very subtle difference between the two, the new Pure Control 95 is ever so slightly more flexible than the Pure Storm Ltd, but this can easily be adjusted with just taking your usual tension up two/three lbs with the Pure Control 95.
Remember this isn't one of the other racquets that is space age, this is a players racquet, the kind of racquet a Borg, McEnroe would be using now.
Am I right Daniel, if not I would love to know the subtle differences between the PS Ltd and PC 95 and be persuaded to change to the newer model as I've used the PS Ltd for two years and really really like it?
    Many thanks as ever.
    J

We've hosting it on test app stores accessed via unique emails (hence the time it takes to get all testers necessary info). Each account created one at a time.

I dont want to sound pre-mature about asking this, but how did you deal with grip-sizing for the playtest run? I know when I replied for the playtest, it just asked for the basic shipping address, e-mail, etc. info. and did not say to include a grip-size or anything, and you had replied to a previous poster that you would check on that. I have not received an email yet regarding the playtest, so it may come towards the end of this week?

We did a standard skew of grips (mostly 2,3 with some 1,4,5). For people who applied through connectedtennis.com and were interviewed on the phone by Babolat, we accommodated (most) grip sizes. TW did not submit grip size information with the testers they selected, so we'll probably be sending grip 3.

The next email is scheduled for the week of Nov 11 with instructions on how to download the app, user guide, privacy policy, etc. Of course this date is subject to change. Thanks for the patience and continued interest.

Same as the others i think, i didnt noticed any difference apart from the slightly bigger headsize but to be honest i didnt took measurements so it could be a very small difference in width.

Haha good catch. Those of you that are getting to know are probably learning I am in the business of shameless self promotion (or we didn't have models to show up for 3 straight days at 4 AM).

    Hey Daniel,

Is the market launch of the Play Pure Drive still happening in December? Or is the market launch pushed out to early 2014? Pre-orders?

It would be cool if Bab would let you post some screen caps and more information about the system. I'm sure there is a marketing plan. Maybe some dates we can expect more information?

    Thanks in advance!

You are in luck. There is a marketing plan with photos, video, demos, events, etc. You'll see how the product works, get to ask questions to the designers, and maybe even get to demo the app/website.

Coming to the USA Dec 2013. TW will have details on pre-order, etc. as we get closer to the official date.

I know this has been a long process. Thanks for the patience. There are so many things that go into make a product like this perfect (or close to it)...it's a little tougher than launching a new racket mold. Hopefully you guys are not too turned off to try it.

    Thanks for the insight! :)

I think everyone rather have you guys get the product correct then rush it to market with issues to sort out.

I'm subscribed, so I'll hold out till more info is available.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Daniel,

    Quick question about VS Gut.
What is the real difference between VS Touch and VS Team? I know the Touch comes in 1.35mm and 1.30mm and Team is 1.25mm.
But I've also seen people with the pro's version of VS Team at 1.30mm. So is there an actual difference in the string?

    Hi Daniel,

A few months ago I notices that my APDGT 2012 was starting to crack :(.

At first I didn't think it was an issue and thought it was just an paint crack, but as time passed by the cracks got bigger. Here are some pics:

    http://imgur.com/a/MYxNt#0

It's strung with MSV foxus hex @ 55 lbs on a machine with a 6 point mounting system.

Is this a common problem? And if so, could I get it replaced by Babolat?

The build quality of Babolat racquets is notoriously bad, unfortunately, and they don't seem eager to recify the matter although they have withdrawn a tungsten tape that would not stick.

So things may be getting better.

The biggest selling brands all have lesser quality control standards.

    Yes, but that's no excuse.

They should have more pride in the build quality of their products and not just how pretty they look on the shelf.

Question for Daniel: Do you think pre-release of the Pure Strike demo packs has been a success?

Has it boosted pre-sales, interest in the racket in the way babolat hoped?

Reason for the question is that this has been a first for babolat,
retail store I work with has good pre-orders, have asked friends/pros/retailers in 2 other countries and they have also got good back-orders for December 1.

    VS Touch: 1.30 & 1.35

In my time at Babolat I have not seen VS Team in 1.30. Now we use the names to signify the difference in size. Maybe a misprint on package or from older marketing times?
