Quick question..sorry if it was asked before...
Are there any plans on Extended Pure Drive plus play options in near future or is that way down the road after I am sure popular Aeropro gets play?

No tracking for me either. Sounds like most of us are in the same boat.

    A couple things:

    1. Babolat Play rackets go on pre-sell Dec 4

    2. Some of you have tracking info, some don't. The UPS center had issues with their Oracle system yesterday. They all went out ground on Tuesday, so they should arrive by 11/26 (without any weird delays).

    3. If you don't have your racket by Tuesday night (11/26) of next week, send me an email.

    4. Email babolatplay@babolat.com if you are having issues creating an account or have not received an email from Test Flight (if you were selected to be a beta tester)

We're focused on mastering this product. That said, we've been working on this for 10 years...Eric is an ambitious man and if our history of innovation and pioneering is a sign, I doubt we would stop with one model.

This is a totally new type of tennis playing experience (not just a new string pattern or frame material...but let's not make this about how much you love or hate the Pure Drive, I hear all of you and you're all welcome to use other brands).

As with any initial launch, there will be bugs (see PS4, Xbox One, Nike Fuel). We have systems in place for you to report those as easy as possible and help make this the best product for future consumers. And you get to keep your racket.

There is a once a month survey (3-5 questions), and responding to each survey enters you to win signed rackets, new products, and if you complete all four, a raffle for a trip to Indian Wells to hang in suite with me (and Babolat execs and players).

One caveat that we should mention, I've got the serial numbers of each Babolat Play racket tied to each email and shipping address. So if Babolat Play shows on any auction websites in the near future....you get the idea.

    Sorry about that!

The process is the same, maybe a different production run? although the materials are the same. First time I've heard this for the Lady V-Pro.

No ladies Drive in the future, but you might be interested in the SFX or SFX Team (new for 2014).

I think someone has an employee who was there and told us one thing........and here something else is posted.....?????

No worries - in the a.m. I will ask for clarification as to what he was told - number was 500 units in USA for DEC - here it's stated 1500 - now are we playing numbers games? 500 for USA - the balance for rest? Or is the whole 1500 for the USA launch.

    Hi Daniel,

Daniel, I'm based in the UK, and have been an ardent user and huge fan of the Pure Drives for the past 10 years plus, and also use intermittantly a Pure Storm GT. I like have different rackets for different "playing moods" I am in.

My game is based on a style of "decent big 1st serve and 2nd serve kicker, + mostly a baseline "camper" - flat shots, 1HBH. I have demo-ed the Strike "Tour" and "305" - I prefer the "305".

    My question:

    1. Do I wait to demo the Control before I buy another stick (may not be an option as I await santa to deliver a Strike)?

    2. What are the pro's and con's between the Strike vs. the Control?

    3. Which racket (Strike 305 or Control) will help me accentuate my "strengths" as a player given my style described above?

    Thanks Daniel

    Hello Daniel,
Just received a demo of a Pure Control 95 and had 40 minute hit with it.
Probably the best Players racket I've EVER hit with.
I didn't think you could improve on the Pure Storm Ltd but Babolat have.
It is the Ultimate players racket. I've strung it with Xcel at 55lbs.
Feel, control, touch and not short on power.
I've always been pretty laid back about rackets, but this really is stunning.
I'm a 5.5 player or was the last time I played a tournament a few years ago and thought I was well past my game ever improving again, but with this racket maybe I will improve a bit more.
One question Dan, what is the black grip on the racket?
The PS Ltd had outstanding leather grips on, why discontinue these?
You could really feel the bevels through the Babolat pro tour white over grips.
What are meant to be the the advantages of the new grip over the leather grip?
    Many thanks.

You don't design racquets with the intention of causing arm pain but why don't you design racquets with the intention of not causing arm pain? Some of your most popular racquets are the worst offenders and if people simply listened to your promotions they would have no idea what they are getting into until they start experiencing the pain themselves.

Because arm friendly rackets are generally heavier and more flexy - which is pretty much an antithesis to "modern" rackets Babolat concentrates on. They've had much success making stiff light rackets and not much success making soft player's frames.

You want arm friendly? Go grab one of those +arm ProKennexes or start adding weight to your Bab.

Ha ha I was wondering the same thing? maybe he did not sync yet. Or maybe he set it as private...I think I saw an option to keep things private.

Come to think about it there really should be an option to keep things private otherwise how would Talk Tennis macho guys continue pretending they are 5.0 when I can log in and see that his power and spin is -1 lol

Oh I have an idea Daniel I know that R Harrison will do this already but it would be really cool if you guys can rally up all babolat sponsored players at least famous ones and record their results so that we common plebs can try to beat their score kind of like Big Bosses in the video games.

I mean this would be killer imagine if you can say "...yesterday I beat Rafas high score in topspin compartment. Or I came close to Roddick Serve last night on one of my serves..."

Someone needs to check their employee on the road. Why would we play numbers games?

As stated during the launch event: US gets Play first 1500 rackets. Second batch a month later for fill in orders.

There are many people with decent technique, the right string for their game, the right racket for their game, and the ability to use our top performance frames and strings.

If someone can't work with that and our rackets give them arm pain, play with a different brand. Our competitors make great products as well. Our products are not for everyone.

    1. Wait and demo the Pure Control. If you're thinking about it now, you'll be thinking about it later. Rackets are not cheap. Make sure you get the one you love and won't be second guessing yourself.

    2. Strike is more of a hybrid frame, comes with some more string pattern and head size options. More power, stiffer. Control is a more classic feel, less power and spin, more flexible. Pros and cons are subjective to the individual user. Demo it.

    3. I would think the Pure Drive to Strike would be easier than Pure Drive to Control...but it's tough to say over the internet. Demo both.

In our testing, a majority of consumers using the 95 (and 95+) preferred the Skin Feel. On the header card of the 95, the grip is listed as Synetc Pro (comes on APD/PD) but that is incorrect. The stock grip is Skin Feel.

This backs up what you say Dan....

Comments: Best grip I have ever used. It has great bevel definition. I've always had the problem of the regular grip being fine but getting too thick when adding an overgrip. The skin grip is so thin that when I do add the OG it brings it up to my ideal size. I never thought I would give up leather but this did it.

    Quite a review from TW.
    Babolat Skin Feel grip.

Comments: I bought this grip based on customer reviews. I never thought a replacement grip can bring a change to my game. This grip perfected my strokes. I always struggled to change from continental to semi-western grip when while facing a service return. Now it disappeared. Also I found it tough to find the right grip for slice backhand, it is now gone. Awesome grip, great feel. Suits me perfectly. I want Babolat to keep producing it. Will buy few more soon.
    From: Anon. 10/10

Comments: This is definitely my favorite grip. It accentuates the bevels in the handle, and very slightly brings down the size about 1/2. I use it on by Babolat AeroPro Drive and use a Wilson Pro overgrip. I love this set up. Try it.
    From: Dan, 10/11
Comments: If you are having issues due to buying a grip size that is too large, then this is probably the overgrip for you. I bought a 5/8 racquet that feels like a 3/8 (even with my over grip) thanks to this stock grip and now have to buy a replacement Babolat Syntec replacements to get it back up to a 5/8. As I mentioned before if you are trying to reduce grip size this is the one for you. Otherwise I would suggest looking elsewhere.
    From: Don, 9/11
Comments: Have you ever had that "I bought a grip size too big" feeling? This is the only replacement grip that solves that problem. Applied tightly and tautly, Babolat Skin Feel definitely reduces the size compared to whatever your original-fit grip. I prefer 1 plus over grip on my racquets but when I applied a Skin Feel grip to it, it is still marginally too thick, so I'd have to use it without an over grip to achieve my desired size but your grip design may vary to mine. I thought it came packaged with micro-thin plastic surface wrapping but it was merely the product's very shiny black finish; it doesn't feel tacky first up but with sweaty use it becomes tacky enough.

Comments: The surface of this grip is basically a Gamma Hi-Tech clone. It is, however, rather thin and very little cushion behind that. If one is looking for downsizing the grip size, this is one of the two choices I recommend.
    From: Jack, Maryland, U.S. 7/10
Comments: Really thin and firm. Not quite as tacky as some, but tack is hanging in there very well at 10+ hours. If your grip is too big this is a great option as a replacement. Without overgrip it reduced my handles by nearly a full size. With overgrip it's still, as other reviewers have mentioned, smaller than original leather grip. Feel is tacky, smooth and firm with excellent bevel definition. Without overgrip, it feels like a leather grip combined with a tacky overgrip. Add an overgrip and you've got a very firm and tacky alternative to leather + overgrip but a size almost 1 full size down from that route.
    From: Corners, 03/10
Comments: This is the best grip I have used to date. It really accentuates the bevels to the max. If you like a rock hard feel to your handle, and need to feel the bevels, this grip is for you.. I coupled this with the Babolat VS overgrip, which is paper thin, and i have my new set up.. I used to feel somewhat uncertain about where my hand was on my handle when switching to my semi-western forehand position, but this set up has given me enough feel to be confident when rotating my hand, in fractions of a second.. It truly allows the user to be more aggressive.. Buy it.
From: Danny, Long Branch, N.J. US 03/10
Comments: Used these on 3 Tecnifibre 320 rackets. I like them a lot. I use a Gamma Supreme overgrip over the Babolat Skin Feel grip and it works great. You still have fairly sharp bevels and the end thickness feels slightly smaller than the original Tecnifibre 3/8 grip - that's Gamma overgrip plus Babolat Skin Feel feels a tad smaller than manufacturer's standard grip. Durability is good but the overgrip protects the Babolat Skin Feel Grip. Just change the overgrip when it wears out, and you can keep the Babolat on for a few months with this approach.
From: Chris, Atlanta, GA USA 02/10
Comments: Bought 2 of these to replace the grips on my sons new Youteks as these seem to come with a really thick cushioned grip and for a grip size 3 made the grip seem really large. The skin feel really worked when applying you could see the bevels more, put an overgrip on top and grip size seems spot on. Really glad that we found these.
    From: Gary, Sutton England 01/10
Comments: My favorite grip of all time. Lowers the grip size by between 1/2 and a full size depending on what you are switching from. Offers great feel of the bevels.
    From: Anon, 10/09
Comments: My favorite grip by far. Extremely thin - thinner than leather and you can feel the bevels even better vs. a leather grip. Reduces by about 1/2 a size...e.g. a 4 3/8" with this grip and an overgrip is 4 3/8". Outstanding.
From: Steve, Lincoln, NE, USA, 10/09
Comments: Awesome grip; if you feel like there's no replacing leather with an overgrip on it in the feel department give this thing a try. Simply replace the leather keep the overgrip and you won't go back-ever. I didn't believe it either but after a month everything is still great.
From: Julian, Farmington, MI, USA, 10/09

One cool thing is your pulse (the score you are seeing) deceases as your frequency of play drops. I love the technology, but I'm an APD user. Once you guys start using it, I may have to log some more sessions just to be able to talk trash.

Not all 1500 will be available for retailers? Much of that will be held back for warranty....etc. could be as much as 50%

    Daniel,

Is the PC based version of the software up and running for the play test? I am on the dashboard but every time I try to download the software, it says "ERROR 404 NOT FOUND." Let me know if it is supposed to be working and I will contact the babolatplay team.

Thanks again for doing all this!

Sorry, wrong again. We have an additional stock for warranty, the product seeding you guys are taking place in, etc.

I don't know how to make it much clearer. There are 1500 being sent to retailers.
