Both are 16x19 but drill pattern is not the same.

Aero pattern is designed for spin and Pure Drive for power and versatility.

We allow +/-7 grams due to production process of rackets, this can alter balance, etc.

    Does that help?

Thanks. having got one, and read the frame, looks like it's strung with RPM Blast by default! Would that be right?

I know I have asked for it about ten times and so have other posters. lol I bet I have asked for a nadal spec APD maybe twice in this thread alone.

While we are wish listing how about some RPM blast that is playable after 6-8 hours.

Yes, I think you would capture a good market share of players who want a slightly heavier version of the already best selling racquet in the world. Analogous to the Pure Drive Tour, an AeroPro Drive Tour at 315 grams would be a hit.

Any news on the price reduction for 2012 pure drive plus ? I want to buy several frames at once and more price cut would help a great deal.... Thank you.

    Thanks for the continued feedback.

If you are not breaking all RPM in 8 hours, we suggest trying a hybrid.

I don't think so. I have been told Babolat does not allow discounting without their ok.

    Hi Daniel,

Are you still making N.VY string? If not, which string is closest? I hit this in a Aeropro hybrid and really liked the feel. Thanks! nb685

no it is not. Babolat has strict control on price reductions for all retailers. TW can't lower the price unless Babolat saids ok.

Remains to be seen. I'm a basic syn gut type of guy (for economical reasons). I don't like polys and multis give way too soon for me. Any recommendations?

Quick question for the resident expert :) I'm running a hybrid of RPM Blast and Powergy in my 2001 PCs, a setup that's nice and balanced. What I did notice, though, is that Powergy is no longer to be found on the main TW site and I'm kind of afraid it's being discontinued if it isn't already - what current Babolat string could slot in there in lieu? Addiction, M7...? Thanks in advance!

SG Spiraltek is a nice entry level syn gut.

Powergy was a poly but I can't say I've tried it.

My coworker used to play with it and says in his opinion: Pro Hurricane or RPM Dual.

    Anyone else have any insight?

... huh. I actually thought it was a multi b/c the setup is actually really, really nice - either I've found the only good poly/poly hybrid around or the low tension keeps my elbow from shredding :)

Any updates to this Babolat Official?

I put VS Gut/RPM Blast as a hybrid in the racquet, gut as mains, and picked up another today with the default string/tension.
Tension was 56lbs but the default string was yellow SG Spiraltek. Very peeved with Tennis Only in Perth.

Yep uh-huh even though you have a Strike I thought it might be Xcel, my PD is certainly Xcel (checked again), and not to pile on or anything, I think you'd prefer Xcel over Spiraltek.

I've used Spiral and found it very, er, entry-level.

Certainly a gut/blast hybrid is going to make it look like a waste of time.

I woulda thought it would have come from TO with factory strings but that appears not to be the case...

    Daniel,
Quick question about Plus rackets. Are the PC 95+ and PS LTD+ (Europe only?) just 1/2 in longer or also a different layup from their respective standard versions?
    Thanks!

Only select retailers in US. You're in luck: TW is one!

Thanks for the info. On the racquet it says xcel or blast. Tried blast a few times in the APD, quite like the hybrid, although wanting to try xcel, but tempted to put gut again as mains, and something like alu power as crosses at 62.

Have to decide by tomorrow, as the spiraltek lasted all of 3 hours over the weekend.

Nope! Powergy was a very nice synthethic/ semi-multi string. Very nice string! Used by Kafelnikov if im not totally misstaken.

I used it around 2003/2004 and it was excellent string. I would say it´s more like a low powered xcel-string

Okay, my apologies for confusion. This is very very old. I was referring to more recent Powergy.

Well I put in Babolat Gut in the mains, and Alu Power Rough in the Crosses. Tennis Only got back to me 3 days after I emailed them, offered to restring it, but haven't heard nought from them since.

Shame that Perth, WA isn't serviced by any other shop than TO.

Babolat doesn't have a huge presence in Australia, and in Perth virtually no contact from the company at all. My club (the oldest and most royal club in WA) is looking for sponsors and a deal soon for the in-house club shop. So many use Babolat racquets, so it'll be a shame if the big two get in first.

What do you think Babolat Official? Why are Babolat not pushing into the Aussie market so much?

Wait, so Powergy started out as a multi then got rebranded as a poly in its latest incarnation? Interesting - maybe that's why the guy at my pro-shop recommended it as a cross, he might have remembered it as a multi.

EDIT: Got curious and went back to the Wayback Machine - when Powergy was being sold on TW it was referred to as a multi and the stock photo of the packaging had "DOUBLE WRAP" in bright red. On stringforum.net it's also referred to as a double wrap polyamide (definitely sounding like a poly), but the selling point is that it's 18% more elastic than synthetic gut - which sounds like a multi description. Most of the current sellers use the same terminology which doesn't help matters any, and most of the individual ratings are from years ago when it was indisputably a multi.

In conclusion - I have no idea what the hell my current cross strings are  They feel quite comfy, though!

Daniel, I just bought a new badminton racquet, a Satelite 6.5 blast. That paint job is just stunning! It's the black one with bright red.

It is just too good not to use on a tennis racquet as well. Please pass this on to the team. :) I will buy any racquet with that PJ, no matter what the specs are. :)

Polyamide is nylon, synthetic gut is nylon.

If you read the description carefully, it says "18% more elastic than conventional synthetic gut". I'm assuming they are saying it is synthetic gut, just more elastic than the usual stuff.
