I have to use nicknames too, because otherwise I can't remember their names. I can't think of how many times I've forgotten Mats Wilander's name, including a moment ago when I was writing this post. I don't think BG is making fun of the players, I think he's doing this for memory's sake.

For those who don't follow fashion, Sloane Rangers are like the preppies of the UK, except a little older.

Ha ha ha!!!! Those are pretty clever. Although if I remember correctly baseball player Sammy Sosa was called "Slammin' Sammy" back when he played.

Stan the Man Musial , Joltin' Joe Di Maagio, etc etc but they were baseball players.

The only tennis player who never got called anything but his name, was Marat Safin. And sometimes Sampras got called by his first name but that's not a nickname.

Maybe got drilled at the net a few too many times by Lendl during the 19 beatdowns. :)

BG is cool. All in good fun.

Nico is a short form of Nicholas which is him name. In English it is Nick...Nick Almagro although Nick is also the short form for nickname so maybe he is Nickname Almagro although I've never heard anyone call him that.,,yet.

Princes Diana was one and she would have been 50 by now. I haven't heard that term used in a long time.

I think "Special K" would be better for Nishikori.

I love Brad Gilbert's tweets. I usually have to read them three or four times to figure out exactly what he's trying to say. Like this one from today:

"i wonder if the big fella Isman knee isues will be on theDavis cup team win anounced today or young Ryan express will get the call"

So is "Isman" a new nickname for Isner? It's "Big John" on the master list.

Just for the record, I believe I inspired Brad to have these nicknames. Before he was big on nicknames, I tweeted him a suggestion to call Kei Nishikori "Kobra Kei" After that, he had a poll/contest to figure out a nickname for Milos and got into nicknames.
