Nalbandian would be a good challenge for Nadal.

Absolutely pathetic performance by Almagro today. All aces and nothing else.

Nadal is scared of 1HBHs these days. Horace Onions says hi. Roger where art thou?

Onions is lucky he got to play Nadal in his first event back. He took the opportunity though and kudos to him for that.

He's losing to Benneteau in Rotterdam right now.
(I'm not happy about it, but JB is a bad matchup for him, and was aggressive right out of the gate.)

This is not a thread for haters. This is a tournament thread. A little focus, please.

well i wouldnt say nothing else ... just maybe nico's not as sharp a tennis mind as nalbandian ... nalby thinks at least two points ahead ... he anticipates and does not hesitate to respond, rarely gets caught off guard ... sure his execution isnt as good as it used to be ... but even nadal respects nalby's court-craft .... wow, vamos David! ..... Poor Nico losing with 28 aces  .... simply outplayed by David's mental game.

could happen :) ..... Nadal's the only remaining seed, and it's hard to imagine rafa not beating berlocq today, then Alund in the semis.

the question is whether nalbandian has enough in the tank or boleli has enough between the ears ... boleli has improved in the past year or so, but I gotta pick Nalby to make it thru that semi to meet Nadal in the final! :D

neither one of them is in form, so it might be somewhat even. sure, nalby doesn't have rafa's stamina, but if nalby can run him around the court the way he ran nico around today, that could hurt rafa if he's still having the knee problems. I'd LUV to see that final!!!

Every time D-Nal plays Rafa -- or Roger, FTM -- I have several sets of breathing problems. Remember IW 2009? *dies*

Odds are Nalbandian won't make the final. He's not good a regular tennis. Nadal helped him out by agreeing to withdraw from the doubles.

exactly ... especially indoors, where nalby's particulary proficient

    I don't remember IW 2009, but I do remember Miami 2010: 6-7(8 ) 6-2 6-2

Nalby faded after taking the first set, which was gripping and breathing-problem-inducing! :) Even tho he's in teletubby profile again, I get the impression that Nalby's fitter at this tournament than he was then ... plus miami is windy, which hurts nalby more than it does rafa. in miami DNal was either pre-surgery or post-surgery for the hip, which doesn't seem to be bothering him too much here in brazil.

s/b a great final ... hope it happens!

omg can't believe berlocg just broke rafa!

Yeah, right now it doesn't look like that. Berlocq with the first BP.
Come on now, Rafa, don't let the bad conditions tick you off any further.

Berlocq needs to keep bullying the Nadal backhand.

    have you tried tennistv.com? @ http://www.tennistv.com/live/event/21697

they've made the Brazil Open available worldwide, which they don't usuallly do, since it's a 250 ... good a stream as youre gonna get, tho it's not perfect either, because of so many people using it, I assume

    ad berlocq

Nadal has just lost a set on clay to a guy who has no serve, no backhand and he moves like a slug. Absolute joke.

well for sure he's not gonna take a set off him on grass or hard!

I saw berlocq play kinda beasty tennis on the clay of houston last year ... had to retire but was quite the fighter ... still, i don't expect him to prevail against rafa, unless rafa tweaked something on the clay in the first set

I have tried it and was really pleased with the service. They even gifted me a free month when one of the streams failed mid-match. Lately I watch most of the matches on regular TV, so I stopped subscribing (and miss the Koening/Lester team too). Thanks for the tip, anyway!

I'd think Berlocq's best chance of beating Nadal was on hard courts but hey that's just me.
