Hey can anyone tell me what string Bernard tomic use and also any other gear.
Given your username, I figured you'd be the expert!
Thanks been wondering
Seth is because he just changed his string so didn't know
the 'poly' in question is called Flex Infinity but good luck if you want to buy some, won't be an easy thing to do..
*edit. Since you say 'Mate' a lot, it might not be impossible. Flex Infinity are from Burnie in NW Tasmania (no, I am completely serious!), if you are very nice I could probably get you some..
^are you tasmanian?
No I am Fijian born in Australia
yes mate!! (shhh, or they'll all want one)
“You ARE Zaphod Beeblebrox?'
'Yeah,' said Zaphod, 'but don't shout it out or they'll all want one.'
Is Bernhard really using rods flex infinity string?
they sell these strings at Serving Aces, Moonee Ponds in Melbourne.
yep, hybriding it with VS gut..
Groomies biggest worry now is making enough of teh stuff I reckon...
(more chance of making money out of the string that out of, well, you know....)
Poly strings from Tassie? Amazing.
what does poly mean under Tomic ? which poly is it ?
maybe if you read the thread?
there is a typo, his first initial is B.
Ooh an Aussie Poly!
How does it compare to other popular polys (polies?)
Well, damn stuff lasts forever, i can tell you that much..
The one I have tried is pretty stiff, feels a bit like Black Code. Was still playing well when I cut it out after about 3 months!!!
There are several different ones, though, and Bernard isn't using the ones I tried (they LOOK like black code too )
I haven't tried BC before, but I'm surprised to hear that Flex lasts forever.
I've used RPM Blast & Cyclone, both die after a short while (cyclone seems to die quicker)
Would be very interested in trying this Flex stuff if it has longevity!
every poly I have ever used dies sooner or later (but not all truly live hehe), but this stuff was pretty amazing in that regard.
I wasn't that keen on it because it is a bit stiffer than what I usually use, but it was still playing the same when I cut it out...
Hey man could u get me some thanks
send me an email young man..
This is so great for rod. I hope it works out and he gets the kudos he desrves.
+ 10 enormous silver mullets
(such a top bloke)
I have to ask,
Is it a typo that says string 8-10% lower then other poly?
Hey guys where would I be able to pick some of this string up?
dunno, actually, I will see him at a tournament in a couple of weeks, I will ask
Cool, thanks! That'd be super interesting if you were supposed to string it even lower then normal poly. That means most people would be stringing 20% lower then a normal synthetic. So really, the highest tension for average people (60lbs) should be around 48lbs. I string at 40lbs normally with poly so it'd be fun to see!
I have used this string and yes you do need to string lower than other poly strings. Holds its tension very very well and the first time I used it, it felt way too stiff. But if you do as it says feels great increased spin and fantastic tension maintenance.
I heard a whisper that Stan W is also giving this a whirl.
Where can I get this?!
Order it from the site. Not sure if I can post the site on here, but just google 'Flex Infinity String' and go from there.
It's ridiculously expensive though! I've never seen so much for a poly!
I was going to try some out but, 38 dollars? Seriously?
Gotta pay the price for this gamma ray gimmick...
EXACTLY my thoughts. I'm like "oh this would be neat to try" I go to check out and after shipping costs it was going to be over 50 bucks for a set. My mind was absolutely blown!
Which one did you want, young Padawan?
(there are ways and means...)
That's about the point I've reached with experimenting with strings. At one point it was more of a "I must try it out," but now I just think it's fun to try strings every so often. But, with shipping, I was at around 50 bucks too.
Timbo, thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass. I'm afraid I'll end up liking it and have to mooch off you forever .
I just noticed a sign at teh courst today "flex infinity strings', so it should be easy enough, I'll just steal 'em!
(ok, maybe not, but I can certainly lay my hands on some if anybody wants...)
dont get arrasted.
Flex Infinity - Rod
I simply emailed Rod and he was fantastic with regards to recommending string based on my past string/tension usage. The string was not really that expensive (though I ordered 8 sets). Rod also had the courtesy to call me from NZ and talk to me about my experience with the string thus far! Very nice guy and very helpful as I had a lot of questions.
As per the string, I have strung both the white 1.20 gauge (hybrid with gut) and also a full bed of the 'grey' 1.25 gauge. Both are holding up very well so far in terms of tension maintenance. The 'grey' I strung at 48/44 vs my normal 52/48. It did not feel too stiff in my opinion.
Performance wise, I'd say that each is on par with other high-end textured poly's that I've used (namely Lux Alu Rough, RPM Blast). What will make these strings worth it for me is the tension maintenance. Those other strings play great for the first few hours of hitting and then what makes them so great seems to disappear as they become 'dead'.
^^ Not that expensive? What did you pay for them out of curiosity?
Out of respect for Rod and his business, I'd rather not say the amount. I can say that it was considerably less than what someone else quoted in this thread.
Fair enough. I apologize for asking.
I quoted FI's website for the price.
looks like he changed strings. since hes sponsored by yonex my guess is that this blue string is yonex poly tour spin
