Does he have what it takes to win RG or will he be like Pete who had no luck on clay?

Federer trashed Coria's 25 or something consecutive clay court victories. He was the better player at Hamburg. Next year, he will focus on the grand slam, and he has a better shot than Pete did.

    (4 wimbledons, 3 or 2 us opens, 2 or 3 australians, and 1 french )

Sampras' best surfaces are Wimbledon and US Open. I would say the best surfaces for Federer are Wimbledon and Australia Open.

As well as he plays now, I still think he played better at Australia Open earlier this year. The slower grass at Wimbledon, the rebouce ace takes spin really well. Federer's shots with so much spin and power combination are most effective on grass and rebound ace. They should be effective on clay as well.

I guess he might get to 14. I would say 5 Wimbledon, 5 Australia, 3 US, and 1 French. The reason only 1 French is so many good clay courters these days.

Can he win the real slam, i.e. all 4 slam titles within a year?

Fed can win the Grand Slam but it will be very hard even for Fed. The reason I say this because there will be one guy who will play light out tennis one day or simply Roger will have an off day. HAving said that I think he will win French and maybe even twice. He has everything to win it, he just have to believe in himself and maybe work a little harder on physical condition to be more confident of going to play few 5 setters on clay. He has beaten the best in the world on clay and he knows what he needs to do to win it. I's be surprised if he doesn't win it until 2006.
