I don't know about players from other eras, but Nadal's win at the USO definitely re-set the argument for who has had the better career between Rafa and Fed. Obviously, now it's still Fed, but Nadal now has the same amount of slams that Fed had at 27. Nadal's got work to do, but if he continues to edge Nole in the big matches, 2014 and 2015 could be very interesting for Nadal's resume.

So Nadal being tier 3 is reasonable to you? These are tiers, not ranking. Who else are in tier 3 exactly? He certainly shouldn't be in the same mix as single digit slam winners.

Nadal at 13 slams should be the same tier as Sampras, who I'm assuming is also in tier 2 with Federer and maybe Laver in tier 1.

In case I needed to clarify, it's the second sentence that I think is a troll job. Everyone knows that Federer outclassed Sampras a long time ago.

I agree. It's the journey that's going to be fascinating. I hope he beats it, but, even if he doesn't, Nadals had a great run!

I respect your opinion but I don't think it's obvious at all.

The difference between Nadal and Fed right now is basically Roddick.

I don't think that 4 wimbledons against Roddick makes Fed a better player .

Especially when you take into account that Nadal missed a few slams and has beaten Roger in slams and already has the Olympics and Davis cup.

Add to that Nadal has one multiple times on all surfaces while Fed has sort of squeaked in at the FO.

    I respect your opinion . It's a logical one .....but I don't agree with it .

Next time highlight the part of the post where you disagree. Don't just quote the whole post and say you disagree.

    1 spartan = 1000 Persians .

There may be more Persians but Spartans are much better fighters.

Fed may have more slams but Nadal is the better player.

Not when someone like Laver announces him goat, it's not a fantasy.

The fantasy is when ********* fantasy about him being goat.

"The argument is arguable". What a idiotic thing to say.

27 months and 9 months I think. I would need to double check though! I think if Nadal wins AO and FO last year then they will be tied......I think.

I'm not sure. All I know is all the articles say they are tied at the same age .

But even assuming arguendo what you are saying is true.....

Nadal still has the h2h and the Olympics and Davis cup.....but to me the key here is the h2H in the slams.

Nadal basically figured Federer out and Fed had no response .

...and Laver has also said there's no way to judge such a thing. Add the increasing number of ex-pros pointing to Nadal, and Federer is no longer in the conversation.

..with foam tipped spears, as their tears, lies and spin-jobs simply mean nothing. The truth objective fans realized all along is now common knowledge: Federer is not a GOAT player.

I rather have all of Fed's records and the largest fanbase on the men's game for a good 11 years rather than the H2H, gold medal and davis cup. Plus Davis Cup was never a big thing for me, personally. Tennis is an individual sport, Davis Cup kills that. Team spirit belongs in soccer/football and I love in that.

Plus Federer = Switzerland for so many years.

Neither Nadal nor Federer is the GOAT. However, it's very debatable who is the greatest of this era.
