I actually don't mind the snow that much - it's the wind and ice that get you every time. We all walk around like ducks half of the year (even with the best boots known to man) to avoid landing on our soft spots. I know many places have it worse, and there's nothing you can do to change the weather. Besides, it gives old men something to talk about in the coffee shops every morning. LOL

well i guess the snow is wonderful , but that's coming from a person who's never lived in snow for one day through his entire life , bet you're bored of it ..

BTW , i have a question for you , what was that debate about the word "chick" a few days ago ?
excuse me but english isn't my native tongue , i speek it very good but just need to spend more time with you guys to learn your slang better .. my understanding that chick is a funny word for girl or woman , isn't it ?

The term can be taken one of two ways, depending on the context of its use. It can be a complementary "cutesy" slang for a female, or as a sexist remark - depends on how it's used. I don't want to rehash the whole deal again, but recommend you read the thread from the beginning - yeah, it takes a couple minutes, but will spare Fee and myself from reliving the argument.
As for the snow, I love it unless I have to shovel it - then it can be a little tedious as I'm sure KK will confirm. :)

Yes Sagittar, it my opinion the words 'chick' and 'girl' are too often used on this board in a very demeaning fashion. There is a certain population of men/boys on this forum who treat it like a lockerroom, forgetting that there are female members here, and their language reflects that. Part of me wonders if it is just the freedom they feel because the internet is somewhat anonymous, part of me thinks that they are too immature and ignorant to know any better, and part of me thinks that in real life some of these males really are sexist pigs who think that women are some kind of second or third class animals just waiting to be owned and improved by men. Whatever it is, it makes me sick when I see it, but I have decided to just put those people on my ignore list and not fight with them anymore. Makes my life that much easier. :)

And there are plenty of intelligent, thoughtful people like you around here. I'll just read your posts instead.

I saw it on someone's myspace page. I also searched it and couldn't find the original source anywhere. Shame, someone deserves the credit for that one.

I agree that they are using the forum as a lockerroom thanks to the anonymous factor you were talking about and thanks also to the sex freedom given at a very young age , we don't have that where i live not that i see that your lifestyle is wrong but should at least be monitored carefully by parents because when boys grow up that way they always think of a girl as a body only not a body, a brain and feelings so that results in them making themselves animals as i stated before , i am not excluding myself of them but i just learnt and understood that women aren't like men and they never appreciate dealing with them that way.. and believe me the man who thinks of a woman as a second class being is contradicting himself as women are their mothers in the first place and ofcourse sisiters and daughters , and i strongly resent any implication that my mother would be a second class animal ..
anyway you're right sometimes giving advice works with this kind otherwise ignore them as you're doing already ..

sure someone does , if i knew and used this quote in my life earlier i would have spared myself a lot of difficult times ..

Sag, this is why we love you - you think with the big head and heart and that is so refreshing and appreciated!!
BTW, I don't want to correct (only help), it's spelled mocking. :)

I know.. tee hee. I actually haven't posted on there yet but plan on it soon. There are a couple of threads I've started which have fizzled out though. I hope everyone stays reasonable on there though - some threads in the past have become quite heated. The mods do a great job though of keeping the kids in line. ;)

Ah, Drak it looks like you're having a blast. Why is your friend wearing a woman's shirt?? :)
I thought you had gotten yourself in trouble with some woman somewhere (perhaps drifted up the wrong skirt) but am glad you are back to us now. Where is the snow though Drak? I don't see any on that patio..hmmm...... one Carlsbad for you coming right up.

Sorry, "neck of the woods" means area that you live. Sort of a backwoods or uncommon expression. My day is good - still getting over my flu so I have been in bed most of the day and will head back in a while I suppose. :)

Very interesting. Of course I will behave well (don't I always?? lol.) so have those pics ready to post. I am going to try to talk Fee into getting us some pics of JG's puppy to post on here as well. I suppose if he's in them then that's cool too, but this pup is such an absolute little darling. :)

Snow??? Do you see the tan I have in that pic? LOL

I spent the entire weekend at the beach with Sunny Skies and my better half. Sorry, but you could keep the snow, I'll take the sun on my face, and another Carlsberg.

What did you do new years??

Yeah Drak, the tan was a little hard to miss. (sob..sniff). Still waiting for more pics of you though. My NY's was relatively low key this year which is how I like it (not a fan of NY's eve). Please tell me that is not your better half in the pic above. (My heart breaks a little). ;) Here's a Carlsberg for ya!!

No, that is not my better half. LOL

I actually showed up to the party with a 70's disco shirt I had from halloween a few years ago. My sister found out how I was dressing and she ended up going like a go-go dancer. Anyway, long story short, everybody at the party was pissed they weren't in on it, so they started borrowing our shirts to take pics with.

I posted some pics in the picture thread.

Yes, I saw them. So which one is the better half and which one the sister? Love your friend's hair - very 70's crazy cool. :) Has anyone ever told you that you're very photogenic?

I put up a few more. My sister is not in any of those. The one I am not dressed up 70's was taken in Coconut Grove on the 30th.

yeah, that guys hair is crazy cool. he is the son of one of my sister's best friends.

No, I have never been told I am photogenic. I actually hate the way I come out in pics. but thanks!

I believe Justin takes delivery of his bundle of Joy (get it?) some time next week. She's been in puppy boot camp and the trainer is flying her to Justin and working with the two of them for a day or so. I have to agree with his comment to me, he treats his women well, even if those women are dogs!

Damn, I am sooooo clever sometimes!

Aye, you are Fee. I can't believe the trainer is flying her out - oh, the life of a VIP. LOL. He does strike me as a gentleman (I think it's in the eyes). So, we're past the holiday and there is no egg nog on hand. What is your poison tonight?

Leftover champagne. If you have a high pressure stainless steel clip cork thingy on it, it keeps for a few days. weeeeeeeeeeee...

I think it was Justin's decision to have the dog escorted back instead of just put on a plane and shipped to him. He is going to spoil her rotten, I just know it. :)

Hi CanadianChick I just stumbled onto the club and you're already 25 pages deep. I wonder whether the book discussion is still "in play" by now?

Not at the moment reading as much as memorizing lines for a school performance called Staged Reality by Steven Verrier. When that is through I want to put a bigger dent into The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman or The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoyevsky. I have a bad habit of not finishing what i start :-( .
    That's all-goodnight

Hey Tursa, glad you stopped in. We pretty much discuss everything here - so speak about whatever's on your mind (although we do try to keep it clean). :) I'm still reading my never-ending Civil War book although at least I'm finally at 1862. LOL. I'm also reading a compilation of true crime stories by Max Haines (very easy read). Love crime books!

I think Drak is a hottie - he reminds me of Sonny on General Hospital. He's got that dark Italian look goin' for him - very masculine. IMO  ;)

Awwww CC, thanks for the compliment (I think). I don't know who you are talking about as I don't watch General Hospital. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the pics!

When are we going to see some of your pics. I will remind you I did see one (briefly), but want to see more! You are a hottie as well. :)

Thanks Drak, you're a sweetie. :) I'll try to find a pic of Sonny. Actually here's a link to the website. You have more hair and the pictures don't do him justice, but I see a definate similarity. http://abc.go.com/daytime/generalhospital/gallery/61825_1.html

    It's Friday!!!!!!!

I didn't get the job I interviewed for on Wednesday, but I was a close second and the Chief of Staff said she would spread my name around if she heard of other openings. Odd thing is, somehow I knew this was going to happen, I just got a very strong feeling about it earlier today. Don't laugh, but I think there is a reason for this, I'm just not sure what it is yet. :)

I think I still have some nearly flat champagne left. Yummy.

Fee, I'm sorry to hear that. Everything happens for a reason and you'll probably get an awesome opportunity soon that you wouldn't have otherwise been available for. Karma - it's a crazy thing, eh?
