If we petition Lakoste-in a very respectable manner, of course-to waive the conditions imposed on the loser of the bet (you), do you think he would agree to this? I mean, c'mon...he seems like a reasonable guy-other than, possibly, his banana-eating technique.

C'mon, people-we can't let the proprietoress of this place go without putting up a fight!:)

    I got 61 points. I guess I suck at USA states :)

I did know the general area where the states where located though.

Aww, that's ok Peter, I'm pretty sure most of us would suck at...Swedish states? Or regions? Or provinces? Or, whatever it is you guys have?

I realized today, during my last class, that most of my students (k-5) are too young to remember 9-11. They don't have any idea what we're talking about.

Random (well, not totally given the date), but it made me go 'hunh'. It doesn't seem, to me anyway, that it was that long ago.

Huffing and puffing....drags enormous wall sized map of the US into the bistro...if we can have 50inch screen tv's we can have maps too....we can study for jeopardy...geography that is....
Ah so it's Kosty that CC bet with....should have known!! I only had to start a thread listing 25 reasons why he was beyond amazing...lol
Lesson learned? Don't bet with Kosty....We'll start next week...Malakas will be teaching classes on betting here at the Bistro....
In the meantime, Marcie is helping out...excuse her spilling...maybe we can get Sup to work a shift or 2...I need to go upstairs and check the stock..we're running out of coffee...be back later...serve yourselves...the honor system....;)

Due to the level of female patrons here in the Bistro I would like to ask for some suggestions. I am considering trying cologne, something I have never done in all my not-even 23 years. In the past I have generally tried not to have any "scent" whatsoever, but I thought I would consider it. Though I really have to desire to smell myself, as it were, more of a consideration for an outward appearance matter..

If the ladies in the Bistro have any suggestions for an attractive cologne, or wish to express their disdain for the stuff, please share.

Oh I got a kick out of the map game. I will think of a new link or perhaps a "guess this" for a free drink today. Movie quotes perhaps?

NAME THE MOVIE THIS QUOTE CAME FROM: "You can't win. You know that, don't you? It doesn't matter if you whip us, you'll still be where you were before, at the bottom. And we'll still be the lucky ones at the top with all the breaks. It doesn't matter. Greasers will still be Greasers and Socs will still be Socs. It doesn't matter."

BTW, the way work is going today, you may see a bartender like Homer Simpson than Moe. Either way Im in .. DOH!?

    Anyone for a flaming Moe?

Will the flaming Moe get rid of the headache my last class just gave me? If so, bring 'em on!

Forget the bistro, I need that map in my classroom!!! :)

And, today, I really did...my 3rd grade lesson was song that had 'hello' in all these different languages. We talked about what country went with which language, but alas...I have no map to actually show them where the country is.

These kids have it all over the Miss Teen USA chick!

You know, I always had a hard time finding a scent that #1 - I liked, and #2, didn't make me sneeze, but I wear Michael Kors and I love it. I'm pretty sure they make a cologne as well.

I think it is fine as long as it isn't overpowering. Some guys seem to steep themselves in it, and it makes me nauseous.

EDIT to add: Of course, women do this too...like the one I just ran into in the mailroom...you could smell her a mile away!

Every morning ,in my office, the first thing i do is review my calendar. Most in the office, including the CEO, thinks I must be totally detailed and running scenarios or something. Why else would I be looking at a calendar for 5-15 minutes? Why, because its a Mensa daily calendar with little puzzles and questions. I love it. Here is one for you guys. The bistro can't be full of weak minded folks.

We've removed all the vowels from a well-known proverb. Can you put them back where they belong?

Sorry Phil, I'm not budging on the bet. Someone foolish enough to bet me that Nadal will win the US Open deserves time off to rethink what they have done:lol: ( I picked Federer BTW, it was a tough choice though ;))
    She speaks the truth!:D
Check out L'Occitane, they're not that well known, so it might be hard to find locally and try out, but I'm a huge fan of their cologne.

Someone better order a drink soon.

The guy at the end of the bar is the only ordering and he's making me nervous.

It's _definitely_ time for a drink. I think I'll have a... um... Ah. Yes - a large Currant Russian Lime!

I've just spent the whole evening in my garage trying to repair one of my cars. Argh!!! Superglue is *nothing* compared to rust. Believe me!!!

I started out going to repair one thing (left front wheel bearing). Now I have *three* things to repair before I can drive that car again. And I haven't even got to removing the bearing... Stupid cars!

    Vodka right?

I can't even change the battery in my car. Too fancy now. I just drive to the dealer and give them my car keys and wallet. It's easier that way.

Absolut Currant (vodka), Schweppes Russian (soft drink) and Lime juice. Yummy! But you definitely don't want to replace the Schweppes Russian with normal Soda. It'll taste like crap... (A bartender at some hotel in LA did that to me once)

Yeah. It's easier and what I normally do (especially with my newer car). But since I'm a technical guy (computer sysadmin, general geek) my ego keeps telling me that repairing cars can't be that much more difficult that repairing computers and solving difficult software problems. So I dabble with repairing my car (the older - a Volvo 850 from 1997) every now and then. It can be fun but most often is frustrating. But that doesn't stop my ego from going at it time after time after time...

****bursts into Bistro...sorry I'm late....***** Hey, Sup is here covering the bar:D What a nice surprise...think I'll have a seat on the other side of the bar for once....May I have a raspberri stoli and diet tonic please? Takes a sip......mmmmm.just right.....refreshing...an excellent job Sup...you have the job! Not sure if Malakas will be giving the betting lecture tonight...
As for fragrance...L'Occitane is nice Kosty...I use some of their products. Was having lunch last week and a waiter was wearing something so nice and different that I had to ask...sniff sniff...oh excuse me....what is that cologne you're wearing? Haha...lame right? Well it smelled nice enough for me to ask...now I can't remember what it was...think it was Sean John or Sean Paul...one of those...asked, it's not that P Diddy guy is it, and he assured me it wasn't...sorry I was dazzled by the fragrance and the cute little thing wearing it;) Hey, we've got eyes for a reason, right? Hope that helps SF....btw, please give Bogart and Ilsa and meow from me....are they getting along?
Topaz gets a drink on my tab for putting up with children all day...you deserve it....
Now, let's see those bar tabs...are they up to date Sup? I believe that Peter needs a refill, Norm is cut off .....he looks wasted already......watch out for those flaming Homers....the Fire Marshall tends to frown on things like that...our extinguishers are by the cash register, just in case....
Is that all? Ok....Carry on............ Oh and it could be John Paul too...a mind...what a terrible thing to lose!!! Arggggg

I like a SMALL dab of cologne on a man. Too much just makes me want to get medieval on yo' as... I only like good cologne. Go to the nearest large department store (Nordstrom perhaps). Look for the men's cologne counter (usually one-tenth the size of the women's cologne/makeup area). In some stores, the men's counter is in the men's clothing section. Watch the counter for a moment or two to get a feel for the clerks there, then approach the friendliest looking one and say "hey there, I've never worn cologne in my life. May I ask for some take home samples?" They should be perfectly willing to give you little vials attached to fancy cards with the name and logo on them. DON'T let them spray crap on you, it will just over power you. Cologne smells different from person to person anyway.

Take your vials home and carefully take the top off one and smell it. Repeat until you find one that 'grabs' you. Dab a little bit on the pulse point of your wrist. Wear it for a few hours and see what you think of it, have a few others smell it. Try another one the next day, etc etc etc. Eventually you will find one that you like, then you can go to Ross/Marshall's and try to find it for half the price, or you can wait until all the special offers come out for Christmas and buy the one that has the best give away (umbrella, weekend bag, laptop bag, whatever). ;)

They almost weld the new engine parts together that you can't even get to the battery without taking something apart. I rather not risk breaking something.

On that note, I've always wanted to trade it in and go simple like this:

    Mensa Puzzle for the day!

Okay boys and girls, the question of the day (easy level):

Julia is two-thirds Wayne's age. Three years ago Julie was half of Wayne's age. In three more year, she'll be three-fourths Wayne's age. Neither one is a teenager.

How old are Julie and Wayne now?

Hmm, I have 15 minutes for lunch...I'm not sure that's enough for this one! I'll come back later!

I think I know how to do it, though, not sure if it will work out.

So, the bistro is now...Mensa question during the day, heavy drinking at night? I guess that makes sense, have to replace all the damaged brain cells! ;)

    Movie quote for the day

Almost forgot your daily movie quote? Actually today I'll give you three quotes. Just because i like to make it a little easy:

    Quote 1:

Person #1: My insurance doesn't cover PMS!
Person #2: Well then, tell them I had a seizure.

    Quote 2:

Person #1: Hello, Person #2. Make anyone cry today?
Person #2: Sadly, no. But it's only 4:30

    Quote 3:

Person #1: I'm down, I've got the 411, and you are not going out and getting jiggy with some boy, I don't care how dope his ride is. My momma didn't raise no fool!

I have a doubles tournament this weekend. My partner is "Big Frank". His name suits him. I'm hobbling on one leg at the moment with a slight injury, but doubles will be okay and I'm hoping to be healed up by next week.

Topaz, we are on for Tuesday right?

P.S. It's been an awful week for me as well. One of those Garfield don't get of bed because its Monday days.

Yes! We need to decide on a time, and then I'll go ahead and reserve a court...it is cheap, and then we may get the satisfaction of throwing someone else off the court! :) I can leave school as early as 4:30 on Tuesday.

    Umm, hobbling? *concerned* What happened?

I'm positive that your weekend will be better! Let us know if you want a cheering section! The S-Block!!!

PS...love the cartoon...Mondays are my heaviest class days, too, but at least I get it out of the way, and we miss lots of Mondays!
