    Go! Go! Go!

Things are looking rosier for Team Sweden for the upcoming Davis Cup tie. Pim-Pim is back into action and will probably play the tie. Now, with Pim-Pim and Thomas Johansson as the singles players and Björkman and Aspelin for the doubles the I think we have a really good chance!

Besides. All the players are now on site and practicing on the surface since it just so happened that none of them were playing any of the regular tournaments this week.

So even though Robin Söderling looks to be out of the game due to his left hand/wrist problems I think we have a real chance now... Which is good for me because I'm going to be onsite all three days to watch the action live! :)

Umm.. I think I'll have a lager beer. Perhaps one of our local brews - Falcon Pilz!

Good luck to the swedes. I'm not a fan of Roddick, but I do hope the Americans fair well.

I started today with so much energy...and now...zap...nothing. The first graders just about did me in! It feels so good to sit down...but I'm not sure how I'm going to get through tennis tonight!

Got anything here that will give me some get up and go?

I'll spare the group a pic, but after my quarterfinal, when i was taking the tape off my ankles..i slipped and cut my right heel up. It hurt during the semifinal three set loss. Oh well. It will heal for our match Topaz.

^^^ Not yet. I have not had a chance to go to the store that does it. I won't be able to do it this weekend either as I have promised to spend the weekend with my father.

    How have you been doing?

    *hopping into the bistro*

Bistro peeps! I had a Eureka moment tonight!

I went to my regular clinic...everything's fine. Hitting well. Volleying well. Afterward, if all four people are there, we usually stay for the next hour and play doubles. We only had three, so one girl left, and I stayed to play singles with D. We've played a few times before, with her always beating me.

We were taking some warm-up serves when...*zing*...pain right through my left foot. It wasn't PF...it was more right at the base of my toe. It was the oddest thing. I decided to stay though, and just see how things went. It only seemed to hurt when I served.

So we get started, and sure enough, she gets up 3-0 before I even blink. I managed to hold and then break, so then I'm serving 2-3. She breaks me back...I'm all over the place. 2-4. My foot is *killing* me, and I was seriously thinking of stopping...only I've never done that ever before. So I think, ok, I just won't move as much.

And all of a sudden, I'm serving at 4-5! My old and current pros both used to get on my case, saying I moved too much when I actually hit the ball instead of planting my feet. Being in pain actually helped me hit the ball better! Plus I was going for more placement because I didn't want to get in a rally. I didn't try so hard, and just got in a groove. I evened it up at 5 all, then took the next two games and WON!!! 7-5!

I had never beaten her before, only ever got as far as 6-3. I didn't gloat until I was in my car, though! I *tried* to be tactful!

Maybe that is the secret to singles for me...stop trying to d*mn hard!!!

    :)

What is to hate about cats? They only like to attack you from behind, just when you least expect it. Other than that, they are very nice and cuddly. See example: http://youtube.com/watch?v=51yQ7vxKQkE

    How can you hate cats?

Cats already are what every single human being is trying to become along their entire lives.

    Uhhhh? What?

cats are LAZY, they beg you by pathetically rubbing against you, like a gold digger rubbing her breasts on you so you'd buy her that dress, etc.

cats are feeble, disgusting (hair everywhere) animals.

This is exactly what the human race is striving for...definitely..

I'm totally allergic to cats. I can sense them about 50 yards away. Ironically all my kicking and yelling at them seems to attract them then even more. They probably think I'm clowning around with them. Ugh.

Also I heard that most history books adorn cats for being guardians of hell. Hmm. That, with their infections bacteria in their saliva (not to mention the urban legend of stealing your breath as you sleep).. sure puts them in the evil category.

    See website: http://www.numoonus.com/ShortEssays/EvilCats/EvilCats.html

    I say "Bailey sick em".

Didn't Steven King write a story/make a movie about that urban legend? It had Drew Barrymore in it...and they all thought it was the cat stealing the breath, but the cat turned out to be protecting our heroine Drew from some kind of troll, which *was* really trying to steal her breath? Anyone else remember this, or am I hallucinating again?

    Ok, ok...back to work...

Edited to add: Oh!!! And in Sleepwalkers (SK again), the cats rescued our heroine (Madchen whatsherface) from the Sleepwalkers! So, they were good again!

Is that a Sangria? It looks fantastic. I want to know the exact name and location of this restaurant so I can go get one. Can you imagine living in California and not being able to get a decent Sangria? It's quite tragic.

Fee, The next time we see each other driving at the tourney, I will give you a few spots in SF that make a decent sangria. You probably would want to visit them in the daytime, though.

    Hey Joe
I'm not going to be driving next year, I'm saving up to go back to Wimbledon and possibly Cincy next year. :)

(I don't live in the Bay Area so I've always had to take time off from work and get a hotel room to work at that tournament).

Yes, it is a Sangria, and yes it was fantastic! You can find such a sangria at The Fish Market in Old Town Alexandria, just about a block from the river. That specific sangria was consumed on my last birthday! :) If you ever end up in these parts, let me know, and it will be my treat!

I had a sangria last night at happy hour, and it was sub-par. So I switched to margaritas, and that was just about when one of our families walked in...the sight of six teachers plus the school secretary and our table of drinks had the two boys (our students of course) completely speechless and with eyes as big as saucers. It was a shock, I think, for them to see us actually outside of the school building.

Evidently, we need to start traveling to the next town over for happy hours.

I'm here...I'm here....limping from the back room....had to get more coffee filters.....have brewed several pots of wonderful coffee.....of course...I always grind the beans fresh....aromatic isn't it? This is a new blend I'm trying...Mayorga organic Cuban beans...mmmmmmm...tasty...discovered this brand at BWI Airport before a flight earlier this year...instead of a Starbucks (fourbucks heeheehee) they had a Mayorga...the coffee was insanely good. Will set up the add in bar....kahlua, godiva liquer, bailey's, irish whiskey and will whip some cream.....
OK, now for a few pitchers of mimosas....
Where is that blasted guy I hired to come and make omelets for us?
Never mind...I'll make them myself....Topaz, what do you like in your omelet?
