By the way. Scandal has rocked my little Simon Cup Mixed Tournament.

Topaz was disaqualified as my partner. Apparently she was caught practicing with a racquet strung with the notorious spaghetti strings (see pic below). When confronted she slapped the tournament official like Mrs. Jeff Tarango did years ago at Wimbledon. Very scary.

That or she wasn't a local resident and was denied entry though the application form didn't state that as a requirement.

*Comes strolling into the bistro singing a little happy song*

Umm.. I think I'll have some happy drink today. Um.. Perhaps a Pina Colada! Yes, that'll do it!

/Peter having just checked into his hotel room and logged his laptop into the Internet after having watched the first two singles of the Davis Cup tie. And now about to stroll down to the hotel bar and the off to some restaurant for some real food...

I keep forgetting that Joachim is Swedish. I guess i remember him best for his big serve and dating Hewitts sister. *Shrug*

Hmph! *Some* people need to learn what 'non-member' means...it would seem to indicate that one would not need to be a member to enter...dontchya think?

Yeah, I'd like to do some slapping!!!

--Topaz, who is very glad to be a member at places where her friends can play, too, even if they *aren't* members!

Edit to add: Would you believe I had *another* student in a Superman t-shirt today? I guess they are all the rage!

Hey there now...it is tied up...don't get too smug! We all know that James Blake and Davis Cup go together like...pizza and brussel sprouts.

    Hmmm...pizza.

Coming right up Peter..think I'll join you....I kind of feel your pain....
Where are you sitting? Are you near the guys with the blue and yellow wigs? I'm looking for you...the TV camera keeps panning the audience and I ask, "well, show me Peter dammit!";)

I've had seats pretty far up in on the short ends of the courts ( row 17-18 ) and on the same side of the main cameras, so the odds of you seeing me are unfortunately pretty slim. Going to be seated at row 15 tomorrow.

Btw, it's a surreal experience being here. Lots *lots* of known faces all around. Magnus Gustafsson, Stefan Edberg&family, Robin Söderling, Magnus Norman, Sofia Arvidsson, are just a few of the players/former players you run into when walking around the area/town.

Ah well... TJ will just have to beat Roddick tomorrow. Peace of cake :)

BRAVO DUDI!!! Dudi Sela played two incredible 5 set matches to get Israel into the World Group for next year, defeating Chile 3-2.

I don't know yet...another poster elsewhere speculated that Portland and Winston-Salem were in the running...WS would be *perfect*!!! I was assuming CA or FL.

    Ah, Topaz.

Well, I could only do so much! I really wish you were my partner. We won our first couple matches and made the Semis. Played Han and a very strong womans player. How does my partner respond, by saying " I think I'm going to throw up". Guess the pressure of 20 people watching got to her. I'm starting to believe I can't to console in tennis (I kept quiet and kept saying.. just hit out.. rather see it hit the back fence than the net). She double faulted about 12 times and had nervous odd errors. I felt bad. I think what got her was that Han and I went into testosterone mode and would hit to each other ignoring the ladies. She mentioned afterwards that she felt way out of her league .6-2, 6-2.

Again, I could of used that forehand of yours. I'm sure you wouldnt of cracked. Poor lady.

    :)

Yeah, well... As it turns out it probably wouldn't have mattered much even if Björkman had won his match. The reason why Björkman was playing against Roddick was that Thomas Johansson had got a fever and stomach sickness during the night so he could not play. Björkman was originally intended to play the second singles match against Blake instead of Pim-Pim. I doubt TJ would have won against Roddick. And I think Blake would have won against Björkman (well, perhaps - unless he had another mental meltdown :).

(I think Roddick is a better match for Björkman even though he lost - Björkman is an extremely good returner so he could really do things with Roddicks serve. Against Blake he would have had to play long rallies which he isn't that good at doing...)

Ah well. Time for a beer and some snacks!

I think this is USA's year in Davis Cup. I can't see Team USA (well, atleast Roddick and the Bryans :) lose against the Russians.

Really? I had thought Jonas might have gone in because he is such a good returner, and he did push Andy, but Andy's serve was just too good today.

The commentators did mention that some kind of flu also went through the US team...are you feeling ok Peter?!?

Yeah, I'm feeling OK. And yes, I'm pretty sure about that. Jonas Björkman himself mentioned it in a radion interview that originally he had been told that he would play the second singles today but then got the news just a couple of hours before the first match that TJ couldn't make it and that he would have to go in an play Roddick instead.

On the evening before, over some wine and beer I had entertained the point to the other guys I was with that I thought Björkman should play Roddick just because of his returns. Well, the other guys didn't believe me :)

Regarding that flu. Seem there must be something going around. Apparently Haas was downed by some flu in Russian too.

    A note to 'willalwaysloveyoutennis'

    1. Don't blame me. I did not get your thread deleted. I said I was sorry for the post of mine (in response to someone else's post) that caused others to respond in a similar manner. All of those posts were deleted. Why the thread was deleted after that, I have NO IDEA. Please take it up with the mods instead of sending a rude email to me.

    2. I don't know what 'friends' you were referring to, but I am not responsible for their behavior. I know 2 people on this forum outside of this forum, regardless of the number of people here that I exchange friendly conversation with in public. Either way, I am not responsible for any one's posts except my own.

I am not responding to your email because I don't want you to have my email address (I might have felt differently if you had used a different tone).

Back to our regularly scheduled programming. Sorry for the interruption.

This is exactly the message I emailed to you: "Thanks, you and the comments of your friends got my thread deleted," And it was in a sad tone, but if you took it negatively, it is entirely your choice to do so, but you're wrong and this statement is true. Ok, they were not your friends that bantered so with, that I now understand.

Extremely by chance that I came to this thread looking for a quote I'd placed here a long time ago on another subject, and I find your post which without any background whatsoever would suggest to anyone reading along that I wrote you a rude email. I just posted above exactly what I wrote to you, and you consider that rude??? Very strange. Very subjective.

The post was deleted after that because Dedan's Penthouse choose to repost all of the offensive content you and others had written. That was why it was deleted. I did speak to Spencer about it yes. As he said, my post was fine, it was just certain others insisted on posting offensive responses against rules.

It seems that what you just posted here that you are trying to get others to see me negatively because you could have written privately or contacted a mod about it, but you chose to make it public. I think that says something about you, more than anything of me. Plus as I understand this is a NON-CHAT thread. And you just introduced a chat topic, totally off CanadianChic's intro words. That you specifically wrote my name also indicates to me a distinct lack of class. One can have a difficulty with another but to make it public in this way. Really tasteless.

Apologies to CanadianChic, have this deleted if it wish, because I think it's really bad taste for someone to disrupt your thread in this way.

So, back on to other news...

Was there a full moon last night? I'm betting yes, since I've kicked out not one, not two, but THREE students out of classroom so far today. That's more than I average in three months, in one day!

I could tell this morning at bus duty...something was off...it was just a bit louder, a bit more crazy, than normal!

Edit: I'd ask for a strong margarita, but I still have one more class to go...anyone taking any bets? Will anyone get kicked out to make #4 for the day?

Yes, the written word in email is subjective and to me, that was rude. It was an accusation at me for something that I had nothing to do with and it seemed to be QUITE sarcastic. I responded to you here in this thread because, as I said, I had no desire to give you my email address because of what I felt was your harsh tone. I wrote to you here instead of starting a thread to respond specifically to you because FEWER people would see it here (and unlike you, I didn't call you any names or make any personal attacks against you). I don't care what anyone else thinks of you, I know that they are adults who will form their own opinions, they don't need me to prod them along.

By the way, this entire thread is nothing but chat, it's been allowed to evolve that way and the mods don't mind (for the most part).

Topaz, it was a full moon last night. I happened to catch it while it was still low in the sky, it was very bright and beautiful.

    PIE!

I am such a weak sister for desserts, I swear. I need to cure that somehow, but life is short so nevermind. As they say...

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, glass of wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!"

Fee, I just got back from one of those "religion" threads in the Rants & Raves section and I even though I told myself beforehand not to get involved (because those "religion" threads all end up hopelessly mired in contentious, rhetorical quicksand--i.e. hopeless altogether), I ended up talking in ~circles~ myself to the point where my head is spinning. I now need to compensate and get it spinning in the other direction. May I have a double-quadruple shot of bracingly cold, semi-syrupy Grey Goose pulled straight from the freezer?

I didn't harrass you, and I have a copy of that email as well. I clarified something, and gave you a compliment about your profession because you misunderstood me.

To Fee, I do not write sarcasm. I don't call names either and didn't. And regarding posting on this, there is a section under TW Staff, report a problem poster or whatever, which is where I posted my question regarding all of this. I am sure you likely know that area of the website. That is the more appropriate place.

But honestly, I have been speaking English too much, thinking it in, and therefore it makes me react they way some of them do. I apologize if either of you perceived my messages as rude because they were not intended so. I won't post the letter I wrote to you Topaz, but as I said it in I was giving you a compliment and only explained what I thought 'nerves of steel' meant and that you took offense where none was meant without even thinking this is someone who might understand that phrase differently. People are too quick to take offense where none is meant. I've learned the lessons of what type of people to avoid. Ironic that people like this jump at you, tell you off, but if you reply ...wow, then they are offended. Lessons observed and learned.

    Beendet.

You can have anything you want, but you CANNOT roll around on the floor with ILC. You broke a bar stool the last time. Sheesh.

I'm not sure exactly what to make of this last paragraph, but it sure seems to be insulting. If you have a specific issue with me, just say so directly. I appreciate your apology, and yes, misunderstandings do happen in the case of written emails and when people are native speakers of different languages. My post to you in this thread was never meant to start an argument, it was just to tell you why I was not responding to you personally. I don't have any reasons to complain to the mods, I just wanted to respond to you. This thread can be a very good place for friendly dialogue and you are welcome to come here and chat any time. I have no grudge against you, but I don't appreciate being called classless and tasteless. You are entitled to your opinion of me, but I am entitled to respond to you as well if I feel the need. Once again, I felt the tone of your email was rude, mainly because it was short and it seemed sarcastic that you were thanking me for getting your thread deleted.

Again, I don't want to argue with you (and bore everyone to tears), but if you just want to lump me in with 'people like this' then go right ahead. There is an ignore list function here at TW and I won't be offended if you put me on yours.

Whoa, time out Green Bay, Fee! I did NOT break any bar stools while rolling around on the floor last time with ilovecarlos. If you recall (speaking of 'stool'), I was trying to be a nice guy to superstition and his three friends when they walked in by turning it upside down and offering it to them. Dem's the facts, Jack. :)

(downing the delicious ILC raspberry vodka concoction): nice 'n ice c-c-cold ILC.....umm-yummy.... i can feel it kickin' in already~! Grassy-ass, ILC. :)

Listen, I have no problem with people emailing me...but like Fee, I will not email you back because I do not feel comfortable with you having my personal email address.

As far as how you took the post...you accused me of attacking, I clarified that I wasn't attacking and APOLOGIZED for it sounding that way. I took no offense. That should have been the end of this right there!

Then I come on here and see you've emailed Fee. THEN I find my own email from you this morning. Knowing that you've already emailed Fee, I'm highly suspicious as to why, if you had something to say to me, you just didn't put it on the thread to begin with. Since Fee started the discussion here, I decided to add to it here...may have been a poor decision on my part, but there 'ya go.
