Ya he is a cute guy. I cant even get mad at him when we do the 5 am wake up call. He is perfectly timed for some odd reason to get up between 5:00-5:05. I guess thats when his bladder is full. Its annoying but he curls up with me after wards and its ok.

Are you two gentlemen and your three dogs going to come over and let the dog out when I am working my twelve hour shifts?

I would but you live to far away. I understand not getting one as your work time is to long but you gotta admit dogs are a far superior animal. :)

I hate you for even mentioning that song.

Her name is Chloe. I made my mind up...I just couldn't stop thinking about her. I went out and bought her some food dishes and toys and picked her up yesterday. She is beautiful - a Siamese cross with the bright blue eyes (I will post some pics later).

I will never stop missing or loving my Paws. He is always on my mind and I have no doubt his memory will forever occupy my heart. But she needed a home and someone to love and I believe we were meant to be.

Last night was an adjustment sleeping. I threw my back out yesterday so the poor thing probably thinks I always sit around all day. lol. Anyway, she spent much of her night on the bedroom window ledge and the rest either beside me with her foot in my face or else on my pillow. At one point I woke up and called out to her and she slithered out from under the blanket. Too cute!!

There is one major concern though and that is her litter box. It is a covered litter box so I have the lid off to ensure she knows what it is but she hasn't peed in over a day. I wonder if the litter has her confused (I use Yesterday's News) but you would think she would still relieve herself. I have put her in there so many times but she just bounces out and rubs against me. I have searched but found nothing and there is no odour so where the heck has she gone???

Some friends called today on a conference call from work but she wouldn't talk to them. The second I hung up the phone she started her nattering. She is a talker and there is no getting a word in edgewise. She naps at my feet and the moment she wakes up she starts talking and rushes up to smush my face. I imagine it will take her some time to get used to me and the apartment but whenever I have left (for very short runs to the store) she goes and hides under the bed. My mom and nana came over this evening to meet her and think she is adorable. She starts at every small noise and growls like a madman whenever someone enters or leaves the building. Every step I take she is directly in front of me (and with my back me having to walk sideways) it is an obstacle course just to go to the bathroom. That is another thing, there is no privacy as she MUST come in with me. I am going to have a shower right away and won't be at all surprised if she dives into the tub. Haha

Anyway, this may sound like complaints but trust me when I say that I feel calm and warm. I believe I made the right decision and thank everyone for all your help through the pain of losing Paws and the indicision on Chloe. I didn't think I would ever get another cat so soon but life happens. :)

Congrats on the hairball! Get her fat as hell, because fat cats are the only good type of cat.

I was only partially joking about the dog earlier, and speaking of cats there is a stray my wife has been feeding for the past month on a daily basis in our backyard that she has become quite fond of. We're still kind weary about it, don't want to bring it inside and have it go nutso around the kid, but we shall see.

Told you, sometimes the animals pick us. She'll stop following you around soon enough, she's just making sure you're okay. ;)

Thanks ILC. Chloe kept me up all night long so the pics will have to wait until I am happy again. I never knew Siamese cats were known for their over-vocalization but all night long she kept dipping her paw in the toilet bowl, crying because it was wet and drying it off in her litter box (then tracking the litter through the apartment). Once I caught on I shut the bathroom door but man oh man. lol.

I had a siamese and I never noticed he was so much more chatty than any other cat I had. I think little Chloe is going through an insecure stage. She'll probably settle down once she realizes that you always come back when you go away and adjusts better to her surroundings.

Mav, that puppy of yours has an adorable mischeivous gleam in his eye. Make sure your shoes are all locked up and put away and the dog food is very secure. ;)

I'll try as soon as I can. My cat I took in back in early 2000 is really sick and isn't eating or drinking. I've been feeding her food and water with a feed syringe for the last couple of days. She's weak from whatever she has but she isn't giving up in spirit yet so I'm hoping she pulls through. Fingers crossed.

I am already down one pair of sandals and my mom lost her slippers. He loves shoes and anything that smells like us. If sweatshirts are around they get chewed on. You wanna yell at him but he has the little innocent look down already.

My older dogs new thing is to stick her head in his crate at 4 in the morning. He starts barking and whining and I am now awake. Hopefully this pattern stops as my parents refuse to shut their door where she sleeps and my door doesnt lock and she can push it open. I am gonna barricade it tonight but what a pain in the ass.

    mtommer,

I had times when one of my dogs would refuse to eat for days, i would be sure he was gone. Then our doc would say: feed him using a syringe. And within 2 days, he would snap back. Almost like a miracle. Yes, she will pull through. Best wishes.

    Thanks and you will. :)

I agree with you Fee. I think she has some abandonment issues and is very insecure right now. Things are becoming more calm for her now though and the wailing has ceased. She still doesn't like it when I leave the room, even for a moment to grab something, and appears to be afraid of the dark. lol. Small steps...I've got nothing but time (and a very well-lit apartment).

I'm sorry to hear this mtommer. Have you taken her to the clinic? I send all warm thoughts your way and hope she recovers very soon. *hugs*

Thanks for your well wishes (and hugs ;)) everyone.

Yesterday morning I started her on kitten meal suppliment (for nursing kittens) via the syringe. Last night she finally started to eat water thinned canned cat food on her own, though only a little. She would lap the kitten supplement out of a glass too. Today I awoke to find almost the entire dish of the canned cat food gone!!!!!! So, hopefully, she'll be back to normal in the next couple of days. Wooo hooo!!!

    Great news bud. :)

I'll share my latest favourite song with y'all:

I love this group and am still shocked/irritated that they never were nominated for an Academy Award from any of their amazing songs from the Invictus SoundTrack.

So Little Miss Missy and I are going to work on our self control. That will be the goal we will strive to achieve (hopefully soon). Oh yeah, her name had previously been Missy and for reasons I won't get into now, I had foolishly considered changing out. Anyway, we are back to Missy.

So, I am sitting at my computer playing a game. I hear her meow and recognize this now as the signal that she wants to come up on my lap - not the sweet "mer mer" noises she makes when she wants to cuddle, but a particular meow she let out when she is on a mission.

I always say, "okay, one sec" in the hope she will allow me to push the pause button and back my chair up so she can delicately jump up like a lady. But nooooo. Like a freight train she barrels toward me, flies through the air, and with a 'thud' crashes into my arm...sometimes clawing her way to her destination and sometimes falling down.

Now, you would think after falling a few times, she would be a little more patient before flying through the air with the greatest of ease only to discover the exact same result every time. Hmmm.....yes. We are going to work on our self control. And I am going to apply some A5-35 rub onto the bruises.

Thanks B. I look at her now sleeping ever so peacefully beside me. A gentle snore as her side rises and falls. Such a serene calm on her face, little paws relaxed, tail limp. Then I remember about one in the morning when she was running laps through here. Around and around and around. She kept smacking into the bathroom door that was closed and then almost took a header through my bedroom window. *looks to the side again* "Sshhh. We must let sleeping kitties lie".

CC, congrats on the kitty-kat; best of luck. Sentinel, hello hombre. A round of drinks for all the denizens thank you. And for the cats if you would please, saucers of your freshest milk and would you be able to maybe whip up an ahi tuna, foie gras, salmon and sardine gratain, topped with catnip-studded guryere? ... "Meow!"

    Okay, here she is:

She doesn't look happy but this girl is like nothing I have ever seen. She runs across the room and jumps in my arms like a dog. She is the most amazing snuggler.

I need to reset my camera settings but she actually has blue eyes.

She has decided she likes squeezing into the keyboard tray of my computer desk.

This was her first day and she was sitting in the middle of a mess of shopping bags trying to decide if I was all right. And yes, those are VHS tapes on the shelf (in alphabetical order of course).
