First...a very large Guiness for Peter...sorry for your loss my friend, but you played hard and should be proud. Happy Birthday to your wife.
CC Honey, you're not the first person that ever committed the "calling the ex" sin after consuming a bevvie or two. It's times like this, sober, that I have such clarity that I can make bold statements such as "they're ex's for a reason..usually several!" Ah, hindsight.....it's 20/20...right? Don't worry...you can always deny that you sent it;)
Today is a weird day at casa ILC...Had another car dream last night...this time it broke down on the Beltway (a high speed highway that circles DC) and I adandoned it...arggggg. We are close to the 3 inches of rain promised by the noreaster...thank heavens it's not snow...my sympathies to those of you north of us where you're getting hammered by snow again! We're supposed to get more rain and very high winds tomorrow. It's ok, had no plans outside of the house today..just planning on what to take on my trip..doing some house work etc. My poor kitty isn't feeling too well today. She went outside in a sheltered area and ate some grass. I went downstairs to clean her litter box and left the door opened so she could come back in when she was ready. I heard a very mournful "oooooerrrrrroooooowwww" and ran upstairs to find Winnie barfing...my poor baby. I gave her some fresh dry food and took away the old wet food...gave her a little saucer of milk and babied her for a bit. She hopped in my lap and gave me a few of her little voiced meows and leopard purrs so I think she's better....am just worried every time she acts funny...you know...worried about that horrible business with tainted pet food, although she doesn't eat those brands...you never know what new brands will be announced. All pet owners know how the helpless feeling when our babies are sick.
Anyway, enough of my rambling...CC, hope you don't have too bad a hangover..Peter..be proud...Volty..keep stringing...SF...give Bogart a big hug and kiss and everyone....carry on :)

I'm glad I switched to a 1HBH recently, as my left hand is now useless. I was stringing polyester in the crosses, and I stabbed myself in the thumb and palm.:( How is everyone today?

Hey people! Bette, thanks for the words - you always make me feel less foolish than I did before - ahh, the power of women talk. Sorry to hear about Winnie, is she feeling better now? My Paws always goes after the plants (to get my attention) and then promptly barfs them up, but Winnie's was accidental which makes it even worse. Especially when she looks at you after with those big eyes, eh? Extra love being sent her way from Paws today.
It almost made it to 20 degrees here - time to get the AC tuned up I suppose. :)
Peter sorry to hear about your tournament but we have faith in your game and know the next one is yours. I would say to enjoy the wife's b-day celebrations, but by now I'm sure you all are asleep. Hope it was a great day.
V - how did you stab yourself? I know nothing of stringing but that sounds a bit painful. Feel better!

He may have done it with the string itself. Some polys can be very stiff and ridged, depending on how they are cut they can have sharp ends.

With the string, I cut it very sharp by accident. But the worst is when weaving, your fingers get cut up by poly, the absolute worst string on the planet is Luxilon Big Banger ALU Power Rough. The little diamonds cut out of it to make it rough can take little chunks out of your fingers. Everything is healing nicely though, thanks for your concern. :)

Hmm, if this is true, maybe I should pay my friends more than $5 for stringing my racquets.

Haha. I am moving to Seattle this year, where are you heading to in BC? If you will be near Van or the Frasier Valley there is a very good possibility we could play as I will be spending a lot of time there. I also have relatives in the OK Valley.

Kamloops area, I know that is near Frasier River. My butt is joining the Kamloops Tennis Club a.s.a.p.

Cool, I have family in Vernon, which if I'm not mistaken is about an hours drive from Kamloops. We'll definitely need to set something up as I'm bound to spend some weekends there with them.
One of the things I'm looking forward to most is the ability to play year round (there are no indoor courts where I live now). I'll be joining the local tennis and skydiving clubs when I get there as well. :)
Welcome to the Bistro Kingdom, hope you become a regular here - this is a great thread to get to know the other posters.

Oh awesome, Vernon was on my list of places to move, heard it's great there.

By the way, I am planning on trying out skydiving when I get there as well. Sounds like it'll be tons of fun.

Looks like either way, you and I will bump into each other somehow, lol.

Thanks for the welcome, I'll stick around for as long as I can.

Hey guys, I did get a chance to hit with one of my old instructors this Sunday, if anyone remembers me mentioning that. It was great to see him again. As an instructor his way of being is just something to behold.

As for my hitting that is another matter entirely. My foot work and speed is dead. I was very pleased with the consistency of ball contact, I was rather afraid that I would have a lot of trouble considering it has been so long since I have hit with a person, and also that I use a mid-size racquet. I was pleasantly surprised on that though. I hope to hit with him again soon.

Basically ive got blisters on my little toes, heels and on one of the soles of my feet, because of an uncomfortable pair of heels!!Im having a hit with a mate tomorrow and i dunno if it is wise to play tennis if i have such bad blisters - obviously i will be wearing tennis shoes not the uncomfy ones.

What I suggest is to pop the blisters. Use a small needle to make a hole in the blister, once the fluid has drained, you can tape it up, and you shouldn't have any pain. The fluid pressing against the skin is what causes the pain in my opinion. I have done this on many blisters, and I can say with all honesty that popping a blister doesn't hurt. It only hurts when you miss and impale the surrounding area. (I've done that once....OK twice, I know I'm an idiot)

You can play. I've had problems with tennis shoes giving me huge blisters (agh..yuck), and well, do as Voltron says and you'll be able to play no problems.
Btw. My add to his advice is...Antiseptic!!! Good luck.

And next time think before putting looks over comfort ;-) (o god, I'm such a hypocrite..I wore uncomfy heels a million times though I knew it's gonna be trouble afterwards)

Ahhh, welcome jmsx521, been wondering when you'd swing in for a visit. We manage to discuss everything and nothing at the same time here - only difference from the other threads is that no fighting goes on here.
Cats?? We are always on about them - they are our family. We've posted pics but can probably throw a few more on here to meet your two. My boy is Paws, Bette' girl is Winnie, SF has the handsome Bogart and Kalan is Frodo's. Anything that's on your mind feel free to share - we're all friends here. This is Paws:

Hi, I can't believe it. I just found this thread. Let me join this thread CC.

I bought a book called "LL Cool J's Platinum workout" yesterday.

I haven't finished reading it yet. But I can say it's a great book for someone who wants to improve their body (for a man and a woman).

There are also many interesting stories in that book about Cool J himself.

    Highly recommended book.

The Senator started a thread, Dedan's posted it in, the thread was deleted. Can't say I missed Byawn. Would like to see superstition posting again.

edit... SS has been posting for a while, but only in the racquet section. Perhaps he'll stop by the bistro and say hello.

He has already been trying to escape from the house for couple of weeks now. Bogart is an indoor cat, but he's got it in his head that he wants to be an indoor/outdoor cat which is just not going to happen.
