I haven't felt this giddy about something since I was 9 years old and it was Christmas Eve.

If blake beat Nadal, bags is gonna destroy him. I'm almost postive that nadal will be pushing back most of the balls b/c he can't handle pace too well and he plays too far behind the baseline. He'll end up being overpowered by baggy's shots.

lmao, Baghdatis can get good pace on his shots but he isn't remotely powerful enough to hit through Nadal. That has got to be one of the most ignorant posts I've read. Nadal 'can't handle pace too well', that's great.

Nadal handles what Federer throws at him pretty well, so I wouldn't say there's anything he can't handle. However, Blake's forehand when it's on almost sets the ball on fire. No one can get to that if it's near the line. Baghdatis doesn't have that kind of pace. Baggy is a more standard baseliner who can hit the angles whereas Nadal is loopy and unpredictable. So since they haven't played before, I say Nadal has the advantage because he's the more unusual to play against.

Bags will win this match, his forehand will win it for him.

    Baghmania aside:

Hi, I'm a practicing Baghdatist. I was Baptized at the 2004 US Open and Confirmed this past January...and I hope you are correct. But I do not think he will stand up well to Nadal.

Oh the other hand, maybe his 2hander will enjoy the higher ball and he will pull off a nice upset tomorrow. I do think the BaghMan will hold serve a lot and make this a close one, but in the end, his love for the game will likely succumb to Rafa's hatred of losing. Let's face it, Marcos will never be anywhere near as obdurate as our wedgie-picking amigo from Mallorca. His only hope is to rush him, James-Blake-style. Give him zero time.

Truthfully, Nadal fans are waiting to see if the Marcos hype is justified. If he beats Nadal, it certainly will make a point.

Federer might say he wants to play nadal when being interviewed, but the truth is he doesnt want any part of him.He is hoping somebody else knocks him out so he doesnt have to get spanked again. Then he can go back and be the god against the rest of the weak mens field.Fed is a great player, but he is lucky that during his prime the rest of the mens field is weak.He has no were near the competition samprass had. That is why he shouldnt be compared to him.Nadal is 19,how many grand slams did fed have at that age?Give nadal another year or so+ he will take over#1.

Spanked? The matches with Nadal have been anything but not spankings.I think Fed would beat Nadal this time around.

I agree. Spanking would imply straight sets loss. Fed hasn't lost in straight sets since 2004 FO when he lost 6-4 6-4 6-4 to Guga. So basically Fed didn't get spanked in almost 2 years now.

I spoke with Rafa last night, and he's still not sure about the ankle. They are going to test it today and see how it goes. It would not surprise me if he pulls out.

Rafa just practiced, and he was looking good to go. The ankle isn't taped, and although he wasn't running around a lot, it didn't seem to be a big issue. I see ESPN has been hyping the match all day, so let's hope it's a good one. Vamos, Rafa!

That would be an unfortunate way to end this tournament, but caution is necessary. It's his career.
