Do car magnets hurt the paint on your car?

I'm thinking of putting a car magnet supporting the school I teach at on my car and just wondering if it is going to hurt the paint in any way.

There are only 2 ways it can hurt your paint:

    1. You put it on and leave it on for so long that the paint of the car fades as normally occurs and leaves an outline of nonfaded paint under the magnet.

    2. You do not clean the area under the magnet AND you have such a poor layer of wax/clearcoat on AND it either moves around when you are going down the road and scratches the paint or it falls off and has to be put on again, also causing scratches.

Other than that, go ahead. And if you're really worried, put it on something chrome.
