Career defining match for fed

To beat rafa on clay in the FO final could turn 16 slams into 20 and possibly signal a final federer flourish as no 1 before he calls it a day. To me it's the biggest match of his stella career( by a mile)

Careering defining if he wins i say. If he loses...nothing new here. Fed's been there and done that a few times already and it would be considered 'normal'. But if Fed wins RG against nadal in a final then it would definitely be a major statement made from Fed to the rest of the tennis world. Like a father giving his son a lesson that his old man still has it in him.

Either way, reaching a RG final again tells Fed still has it in him. Since last year's loss to soderling i would never expect Fed to reach his next slam final at RG.

his career defining match was his first wimby win.

If he loses his 4th slam final in a row to Rafa it will certainly be career defining.

Fed broke Novak's streak, he's got nothing to prove. he'll probably lose (though it'll be a tad tougher for Nadal than in FO 08)

WAT? The man has every possible record imaginable. This could be one of his greatest wins, but hardly career-defining. Perhaps if he had never won the FO, this could be career-defining. Now hardly so.

I agree. To snap prime Djokovic's run AND beat the clay court GOAT at his prime in the FO final would be one of the most memorable wins of his career.

I think Career defining was completing the career slam and then getting the record, before that it was equalling Borg at Wimbledon. For me, anything he got after that was just extra. If he wins...it would be special, no doubt about it, but I still think his summer of 09 was just perfect.

Agreed.

There will always be so-called career defining moments, but Federer's have come and gone. The guy's a legend and a win would still make him exactly that.
