Does it really make that much difference?
I still don't understand something that has been said about Federer a number of times during this championship. it has been said that he is an aggressive indoor player so he will play better when the roof on center court is closed. but surely it is all down to the court surface.
he might be an aggressive indoor player, but that is usually on a hard court, what difference will it make being indoors on a grass court?

    this a serious question brah?

closed roof means no wind, no sun. good for server n good for predictability/consistency of ball flight

yes it is a serious question.
how can a closed roof on a hard court be the same as a closed roof on a grass court?
the two court surfaces are totally different.
surely that makes more difference than a bit of a breeze.

I understand the benefit of having the roof closed, but won't the court surface make a difference too?
also, if the fact that there is no wind and no sun on the court, won't that benefit both players instead of just one?

both players get the same benefit from the conditions but for some players the benefit is more important coz of the style of game they play. eg

    - fed has a serve with a v hi ball toss so lack of breeze n sun big adv for him. cos his serve is so dangerous, anythin that helps his serve is v important
    - also plays 1hbh where timing ball v important, n shots have less margin for error so less breeze/more predictable flight is big advantage

those r the advantages ppl talk about when they say closed roof helps fed

otoh someone like nadz dont like indoors coz they get big benefit from outside conditions. nadz's shots have big margin 4 error so breeze dont bother him as much as other players. he prefer 2 play outside in breeze cos his opponents make more mistakes
