even though the house was bought at 2004, i shipped my racquets there and obviously somebody had picked up the racquet

furthermore - took a look at the bay account and my god, what an absolute idiot, also, he only has a 60% positive feedback with comments saying he doesny pay etc

    what a dodgy person

hope one day he gets screwed over like i/others did

man i hate him, his sidekicks in this stupid situation and also others like him

I am truly amazed on how many people have come to your aid...really nice to read. Someone even went to the house, now that is going out of someone's way. I am wondering if you have contacted the SJPD? They are really the ones you would file a report with.

Topspin Man, you should email the buyer of your rackets on the bay and tell him they are stolen. Send him a link to this thread.

You might also try to email the last seller who nguyen did a deal with on the bay in March and see if he has any record of the shipping address. If it is the same as the one you shipped to then that is his address. If it is another address that is probably his true address. He may have used a friend's address as the shipping address for your deal since he knew he was planning to rip you off.

Did a reverse search for the address. Something interesting came up. The last name is Lan? Not Lam (as in Mike Lam), but Lan.

Hey, I think I can see Topspin Man's rackets on the back deck.

Princegod, I think the listed homeowner's name is Lan Ngo. Apparently, there is some sort of relationship between the name Ngo and Nyugen in vietnamese culture? For that matter, Charles may well be an americanized version of Quoc or something like that. I'm not vietnamese so maybe someone who is can fill us in.

There was a Nguyen scamming on these boards 4 or 5 years ago too. Can't remember his first name, but probably the same guy.

We should create an online letter with all of us certified including a scan of the receipts of those members who traded, bought racquets with him, print it out or email it directly to San Jose Police Dept and those places of his fake addresses. Maybe some of those addresses are innocent people but must be some people in connections with this scam artist.

This guy has made the Vietnamese people in a whole lose their prides, being embarassed and much more. This bad habbit of stealing other people's properties is probably in his blood. He sooner or later will end up behind bars and being someone bi...tch......in there. It's a lesson he should get.

    About the facebook idea...

I'll create a closed facebook group, meaning only people that I invite will be able to access it. To join it, you'd have to send me an email through TW, so that I can make sure you're not one of Charle's accomplices. That way, I can make sure that discussion is limited ONLY to people on this board who are trustworthy (ex. anybody's that's applied to this thread).

    To further this,

While I was creating this group, I found an option called "secret". That means that even if Charles does bother to search facebook for this group, he'll turn up nothing. Here's the description:

The group will not appear in search results or in the profiles of its members. Membership is by invitation only, and only members can see the group information and content.

I think that'll work. Email me if you're interested in joining.

Exactly, I was just showing further proof that Mike Lam lives in San Jose and plays tennis in Norcal. Not that you need any more proof at this point, the guy or guys are crooks and should be prosecuted.

Not everyone have the same last names are same as bad. I also said above, this scam artist Charles Nguyen has made people, who have the same last names as his to be in such a shame. The scam artist, Charles Nguyen

Not a problem at all Mr. Meo. No worries.

This Vietnamese Scam Artist guy he acts exactly just like the Vietnamese Communist who is famous and/or well-known for STEALING OTHER PEOPLE'S PROPERTIES. I believe Charles Nguyen has chosen a wrong country to live his life. He should stay in Vietnam, join the Communitst Party and steal people's lands, properties...........he'll be rich fast instead coming to the States and cheating people on trading and selling tennis racquets. Is it worthed? Don't know what this guy is thinking?

To those of you wanting me to add you to the facebook group, I have a "clarification" (if you could call it that).

This is a SECRET group. According to the messages that keep popping up whenever I try to add somebody, I can only add people on my friends list. When you send me the email asking me to add you, please include your facebook name and the network you're on so that I can send you a friend request.

Hope this makes things a little smoother.

Lan is a woman's name. So the homeowner, if registered under Lan Ngo, is surely a woman. There are not relationship between Ngo and Nguyen at all; They are just two last names just like any two last names. Majority of the time when Vietnamese pass their citizen test, they are encourage to choose an American name for later purposes such as passport, and when they do the name they choose has little to no correlation with their Viet names. Although i do see some Vietnamese names like Anh, A'nh, or An take on American names like Andy and Andrew but that's because i know them, but in this case, it's just pure guessing.

Please do so if you haven't.

A lot of times with Vietnamese families like this, they will tend to deny that the person actually lives there or he is currently not home. All Charles needed to say to family when they pick up the phone is something like, "if someone ask for me, tell them that i moved out or you don't know who i am, or that i am not home----Because this person that is calling me is from school and he's really bugging me about ----." Just something as simple as that, and i think Charles will get the validation from his family. I don't think his whole family is part of a big family scam scheme, otherwise the house, the cars, everything they have, would probably out of scamming people? If that is so, they would have been track down long time ago.

What you can try is calling the house again and ask for an elder around the house, and in this case i suspect Lan to be the "mom" of the house. First time, you can tell her sincerely what happened and see how she responds. If it doesn't work, try again another time and say that you are from some company etc. or even SJ police department looking for Charles and tell her you need to get a hold of him. If she said she doesn't know him or if the name Charles doesn't ring a bell, ask her if any member plays tennis. Tell her that the police is conducting an investigation and if you can't get a hold of him, some serious sh%t going happen.
Call again another time and repeat. You might be able to squeeze something out when you struck some fear. It sucks to do it to them but it also suck that you're getting scam. None of it would of taken place if the dude just send you the ish.

It will be funny if Charles is reading this and aware of what you're trying to do and take it lightly, but wait until the real SJPD call, what will you say to your family members? "The SJPD is bugging me...tell them to bug off"?

hey topspin man sorry to hear about this, and for the rest of you, please don't get too hot-headed and deal vigilante justice via something like baseball bats, kerosene, rocks onto house or car, threats of any kind, calls at 3 AM or fecal vandalism. though I am sure the general sentiment here is that the guy deserves all these things, please play by the rules and go by the law and hopefully get this sorted out properly. I wonder if that address is his real home address. It might be his friend's or a kind neighbor's who is oblivious to nguyen's less than honest dealings, to say the least. heck, if nguyen has half a brain, nguyen wouldn't even be his real name.

I guess everyone should take a page from this and deal with people with good references. If that's not available, deal via paypal so you have a proper channel of filing a dispute and getting your money back.

again topspin man, i am sorry you got scammed. hopefully you can find solace in the support us forum members are showing.

what are you guys hoping to achieve. i am hoping at least the SJPD will pay the man(calling him a man is giving him too much credit, i'm afraid) in question a visit.

and people, please don't get racial on this like tennislover
it's really not what America is all about, right? i mean, for all we know, nguyen coulda been born here... i am not taking a jab at you or anything tennislover. i admire your enthusiasm. i am just trying to keep people level-headed.

lets just keep the focus on this nguyen individual and finding proper channels to make this complain official.

Are you Viet Communist? If yes, you know exactly what I am talking about. If not, you need to do some research on them what they have done for people in Vietnam the last 32 yrs.

Yes, I know it's about Charles Nguyen and it's the same behaviour of stealing. I compared Charles with the Vietnamese Communist since they're the same to me.

what so all thieves with a Nguyen last name are Viet-Coms now? What kind of rubbish logic is this? By that reasoning, everytime you see a white thief or robber do you think about how Native Americans where displaced by white folks and hence think the entire US government is evil? From the sound of it you were deeply wronged by the Vietnamese government, and I am sorry if you have. But this is not the right board for political rants and raves.

And I don't think the pride of Vietnamese people is hurt by this one criminal. He's just one person. If you let this one person's crimes bring shame to everyone with a last name of Nguyen then you are giving him too much credit, don't you think?

    hey guys

to answer your question about SJPD,

i did contact them except they sad for me to contact my own authorities in australia

and when i did that, they said they couldnt do too much given how far away the situation is =(

    which really isnt too helpful

well atleast we have tarnished the likes of mike lam, charles nguyen + the other testical

hopefully their lives are ruined by this situation, such as when their bosses or whoever looks for reference checks and finds this on their net

    eat that cupcakes

surely SOMEboDY on these boards, knows who charles nguyen and mike lam are?

hey topspin man check the link below

    http://www.sjpd.org/ReportingCrime/forgery-fraud.html#

    scroll to where it says:
If You Have Been A Victim of Internet Fraud:

then click on "file a Police Report Online" at the second bullet.

did you do this yet? at least you will get a formal complain in the system.

anyone else who have been scam by this guy should do the same and hopefully generate some buzz so the cops will look into it, hopefully. SJPD says "An investigation will usually be initiated if we get multiple reports on the same individual and losses can be aggregated to at least $4,000."

SJPD are suppose to look into this matter because the suspect lives in SJ and the goods are sent to SJ, so it's in their jurisdiction, not some police department in Australia. Sounds like SJPD is offloading the responsibility just because you aren't in US. So it's even more important for ppl to generate buzz on this and have ALL VICTIMS COME FORWARD. TW should definitely shine some light on this.

    best of luck
