The Pro that I work under at a resort down here on weekends just recently gave me his older model stringer- its a nice stand up model- Winn Pro.

Anyway, I typically use cheaper strings anyway- Prince Syn. Gut typically- I break a lot of strings........

I decided since I was going to have my own stringer to try some even cheaper stuff- I bought a few packs of Ashway Nylon. I have strung my racquets with it 4 or 5 times now and it just doesn't feel tight enough. In between stings jobs I strung one of the frames out at the club pro shop with a better, syn. gut and it felt nice and tight.

Is the string the culprit or could the tension not be right on the stringer itself?

could be either. Try a string u trust on the machine he gave you. That should solve the riddle.

cheap nylon strings are cheap for a reason. they aren;t actually that bad; they do play reasonably well for a short time, but then they do lose tension and become rubbish
