I was at the BNP Paribas Open and took a couple of pics of Mr. Blake's kicks. I thought it was interesting that he's wearing nikes and trying black out the the swoosh symbols. I guess he doesn't like Fila shoes!

He's not unsponsored - that's the issue. He's just a total ass to his sponsors and doesn't care that they're paying him.

Unsponsored? Nike moves on, and Fila comes on-board and builds a line around Blake in the downslope of his career. He's ranked around 50-60 in the world and gives no indication, at 28, of making the top 10-15 again. On top of that, Fila named the line after Blake's father, unprecedented as far as I can tell. Fila already had Cilic in their stable, but they give a line to Blake? I'd say Blake did very, very well for himself there. Fila even makes a J-Block t-shirt, if one's pining for 2005 ephemera. The racquets and shoes thing is a personal issue. He never should have left Dunlop the first time, and now he's feeling differences in the frames compared with yesteryear's. Sampras wore masqueraded Wilson shoes for several years before the 1998Oscillate, so it does happen.
