That is exactly what I was thinking.

Combining the Cincinnati Masters and the WTF, Nadal has made a total of 1 final.

Federer has WON 10 titles between these two events.

Yeah, but that's Nadal, so his final is so impressive that it counts as two.

On the other hand, WTF is just a glorified year-end exho, so winning it is worth squat. That's losing in the final that is the mark of a great champion (and worth double, obviously).

(Please note that I wrote "worth double", not "doubles". Otherwise, some people are going to troll this saying that an Olympic gold in doubles is worth one in singles--and they'd be right to, btw, but that's not the point.)

Yes, I absolutely love it. Have been going since 2003 and only missed 2009. I try to go at least one full day.

I'll be at the real slam August 17th-19th, for the QF/SF/F matches. Can't wait to see Grand Slam tennis!

How did Novak dare to retire last year? He should better finish the real slam final than saving himself for untrue slam. Oh wait, he didn't know... You'd better tell him or he's gonna finish his career slamless. No need to tell that to Rafa, he's not going to win it anyway.

why is this masters so popular on this forum, I never see anyone get excited about cinci, is it simply because it has fast courts

    That's why. ;)

People outside of this forum also call it "the 5th slam".

Most people call Miami the 5th slam. It has only recently been elevated (2009?) to a big event for the women.

Has Sureshs legend thread spread outside this forum? That would be amazing if people elsewhere also call Cincy the 5th slam.

Dang! I did wonder how this poster who just enrolled as a member is starting threads right, left and center.

BTW, suresh's time has come, sadly enough. After playing the village clown for several years, wasting several valuable hours fabricating deliberately ridiculous posts to attract attention, he finally decided to anoint Federer the GOAT. It is thus time to ask the unfortunate question again, "Should sureshs retire?" :)

I think he's just scared of failing here yet again. It's no dirt. And maybe scared of Andy since he wiped him off that court in Tokyo...

But Rafa is king anyway! <3

It cannot be the real Slam if Nadal is injured. Due to injuries, Nadal has allowed Federer to win Wimbledon, an Olympics medal (even though he could not win gold in spite of Nadal's graciousness), and will now probably win Cincy. It reminds one of the pre-Rafa days when Fed was beating everyone.

So if Nadal withdraws from the USO that's not considered a slam anymore either? Poor Tennis, what are they going to do once Nadal reties? oO

Despite the fact that Rafa has never even made a final here...

    noob: the "true slam"?

what's the deal with jokes about the "unfiltered" slam, the "true slam," et cetera re ATP Cincy?

what about the "surtout" slam to supplement the "uber" slam?

Fed defeated Nadal this year in Indian Wells, and then win the tournament.
    Nadal wasn't injured then.
So fed can win Nadal sometimes, and win a tournament with Nadal on his road.

hahaha... first he says cincinnati is the 'real slam' (which is isn't) and goes on to intimate that Federer won't win it

    which he does.

Yes. In the language of TW, this thread was "peak sureshs."

Unfortunately, as Federer returned to No.1, won Wimbledon, and medaled at the Olympics, sureshs began to fall behind in his rivalry against the upcoming Serbian Soundak Logicic. Finally, he declared Roger to be the GOAT and all but retired from trollery. Now, he is but a husk of his former self, or as NadalAgassi would say, a "past his prime sureshs". :)

Sureshs was the bee's knees during the first decade of the new millenium. Now, we have a weak era with jacksonvile and 6-1,6-3,6-0 and all manner of lesser players picking up the scraps left behind by the greats.

Its not the 5th slam, its the REAL slam. There's no other real slam.
