    Hi,

I've had my alpha revo for many years and it's been great. lately, I have to exert a lot more force to close one of the clamps than the other. Any ideas? do I need to oil one of the mechanisms?

I had that problem w/ my new DC plus. Contacted Mark at Alpha and he sent me a replacement. Your situation may be different because you've had yours longer, but I would suggest contacting Mark nontheless.

    Great customer service at Alpha.

Sound like they need to be cleaned and lubricated. Do not lubricated where the clamp comes in contact with the string.

It's risky, but if you get a new one, try this on the old one before you throw it out. I've done this to improve the feel of how it closes. Take a file (or a Dremel) and file the shape of the handle (lever) where it makes contact with the clamp. I squared mine up a little so it would have a more definitive "close" feel. You may need to round yours off a little so it's easier to close. You could also spray a little silicone on it.
