thanks for posting. Tried to watch the Verdasco-Nadal match, and still wondering, why Verdasco is not playing like that anymore. Whan happened ?
All his shots were going in against Rafa. And I thought all along that it's the beginning of something big for him. Hated the guy, but what a shame.

    Yeah, shame about Verdasco.
That match is one of my absolute favourites at the AO - a classic.

He isn't exactly a great player. A poor mental game, poor movement and a shaky second serve hindered him throughout his best matches (most of his best matches played he lost). He wasn't a Nalbandian who could show up on occassion and beat anyone playing great tennis, he was an ok player who could trouble top opponents, never beat them.

Pretty much. But that was quite an entertaining campaign at the Aussie that year.

Really enjoyed Nadal x Verdasco's semifinal.

THanks Jones101 for sharing this. This is awesome.

Australian Open has set the standard now and I hope all the slams do the same.

The Aus Open is not known as the most fan-friendly slam for nothing. Thanks for posting it. Great find.

Actually same type vault video site also available for ACC games and add-ins are also not working there

Both are developed by same org thoughtequity:twisted:

Verdasco looked like this for a set in the 2010 US Open meeting with Nadal. He can play like this but he just rarely is able to sustain it without turning into an erratic error machine. I guess that is common in tennis, a player can play 'above himself' but only for so long. One day he will play 'above himself' for an entire match (that was the 2009 Australian Open SF).

No, he wont. If the tennis gods gave Verdasco a second shot at beating a good player in a slam (Slam champion in a SF/F match for instance) he would still choke, regardless of how well the opponent was playing. People tend to overrate how well Verdasco can play at his best, can't even put Nadal away on a hard court - keeping in mind at that point Nadal won a total of 0 majors on hard. Yeah yeah tough matchup, but in reality Verdasco's record over the elite slam champions or even tier 2 players is shocking. He was never beating Nadal that day, period.

    thanks for the link!

Young Nadal vs Hewitt in '05!

some great matches here, many of which were never televised in the US.
Nice to see some complete Korda matches, not too many of them available online.

and the complete Kuznetsova-Schiavone epic match, Capriati-Seles from '01, great stuff.

I'm watching the first set of Federer/Baghdatis 2006, boy was that crowd behind Beghdatis!

Gonna watch Rafa/Hewitt and Fed/Baghdatis over the weekend. I've never seen early Nadal play much on HC when he was younger, so should be interesting.

He seemed to go for it a lot more than he does now, hitting big from literally everywhere.

Well I would say that was true for the match against Hewitt in 2004. In 2005, Nadal was grinding Hewitt to death for the first two sets with heavy topspin shots and supreme court coverage.

I was checking that out earlier. I completely forgot about how clutch Federer was. He was down a set and about to go down a double break in the second at 0-2 30-40. Baghdatis hit like 5 huge groundstrokes and Federer neutralized all of them and randomly fired a forehand DTL winner. Great stuff.

What a great idea by Australian Open to do this. Hopefully the other major championships will do something similar in future.

    Watching Henin/Venus AO03 now.

Forgot how much of a beast Venus used to be and how talented Henin was.

I definitely missed those days, Serena really came up and stole what could have been Venus's glory. Venus played really well again from 08-2010 though, just wasn't as fast and athletic.

Watched the 2000 Australian open semi between Agassi and Sampras.

I love Serve and Volley but the tennis seemed so plain compared to what I have seen in the last 6 years.

It seemed like the Australian Open back then with the rebound ace was a lot slower surface in 2000.

they added some 'new' classics recently

1990 AO Mac-Pernfors(where Mac gets defaulted)
1995 AO Sampras-Courier QF(where Sampras starts crying during the match)
1992 AO Mac-Sanchez(epic 5 setter, one of the craziest matches I've seen, Mac has match points, Sanchez saves them & eventually gets match points of his own, Mac saves them & then wins 8-6 in fifth)
    1975 AO Newcombe Connors
    1981 AO Martina-Chris

I wonder if the site will go down after the AO ends.
