clay court maintenance costs

    annual maintenance cost for a single clay court.

    anyone got any ideas?

    no way really to tell..you water it daily and water rates are all over the place, but in the course of a year, you use alot of water, and water would most likely be the biggest single cost. they needed frequently rolled, scarafied, top dressed, and of course dragged and line swept before play. if installed in the north, the lines need removed for the winter, water lines flushed, etc. etc etc.

    what about irigation?

    pop up sprinklers or sub surface water cells

    any thoughts?

    You may want to check out 'Classic Clay'. It seems to be a low maintenance clay-like playing surface that doesn't need watering.

    I've never played on it, and I'm afraid I have no idea of the installation costs.

    I met a representative from them at a tennis exhibition in London last year, so I assume they have offices in the UK.

    thats astro type turf.

    its actually very good surface, seeing it more and more in the uk where all weather surfaces are important.

    it is visually very appealing too

    kids and beginners seem to love it.
