Hey, Just wondering what is the best way to clean tennis shoes. I ruined a pair by just tossing them in the washing machine. I have the new V9's and the toe box has turned brownish. Any ideas ?

Tooth brush or a rough sponge and some shout(or any stain remover) is what I use. Laces in the washer.

How did you wash it. Things to consider when washing sneakers
    1. take off the laces and innersoles.
    2. wrap them individually in a white pillow case
    3. easy on the detergent
    4. wash in delicate and in COLD water
    5. air dry in sunlight with tongue sticking out

When I need, I do it by hand. I find that machine cleaning and/or drying destroys the outsole. Or I don't, since when I play on clay, it's a waste of time.

I do all the above with all my shoes except for #2. I've never had any of them ruined by machine washing.

An old toothbrush, water, some detergent will do just fine.

I personally like having clean looking shoes on hard courts after playing on clay.

You can clean it all you want, white always tends to become yellow when old. It has nothing to do with being dirty or not: it's like this for clothes, paper, some rocks, and even hair!

Other than the basic soap with a cloth or brush, I've used this stuff called Grandma's Spot Remover. Generally, I think a creamy soap works better. I normally don't need to do this, but if a pair needs to be "spiffy," some Kiwi white polish is used. If the laces are much dirtier and white, they are taken out and put in a container with water and a bit of bleach to soak. Then they are rinsed and dried.

I rotate threw three pair of tennis shoes different colors and have been washing Barricades, Asics Gel Resolutions , and Asics running shoes for years.

Throw them in with a few towels, laces out, and place old newspaper inside as they airdry (soaks up moisture quickly)

My shoes last for years. The bottoms wear out from running or the clay courts , but never from been washed.

Threw my pair of new balance into the washer then 10 min into the dryer and I think the heat from the dryer has ruined the glue of the outersole to the shoe so it's separating. Shoe goo it is!
