Looks like he's not playing. He got killed vs Ole Miss, maybe he's just sitting out today for the number of dates thing or maybe he has a slight injury. But we won't need him today.

And then it has been re-scheduled for tomorrow....moving matches and not updating their website in a timely manner has more to do with a lack of interst in College Tennis....unfortunately this happens all too often.

Rescheduled for Saturday, ah well. This happens all to often in College tennis...wouldn't have been that bad except that UIW has construction all around the campus and I could only find one way to exit.

That construction is driving me up a wall. It's getting so bad. Two cars can't even pass anywhere on campus.

So you showed up and nobody was there?

The women's team was practicing and then the men showed up, spoke with Pierce for a few minutes.

Clemson blanks both CofC and Wofford. Ansari,Augusto and Sala sat out of the Wofford match. Ansari sat the whole day.

CofC was easier surprisingly which is off because they usually have a much better team that Wofford. Can't believe we only beat CofC 4-3 two years ago. Dom killing Allancic was an impressive win as Allancic is a scrappy and sly player who beat Harrington two years ago.

Lett lost a set to Wofford and Kennedy killed his opponent. Lett also lost vs PC. Kennedy should probably move ahead of him. Not that it matters that much at the 8-9 spots.

What do the players possibly gain from this

It's not like those guys don't realize that they are playing less skilled players. I guess it's the coaches way to beef up his record. Definitely not a confidence booster.

Yes players do tend to be not as amped for matches with lesser opponents. Some handle it better than others and pay good regardless and some really let it drag them down. That was probably the case with Harrington's 6-5 first set vs Wofford.

Yes, I was trying to alert you to your narcissism, and the fact that this board is not your Twitter feed. Apparently that is a lost cause.

I did create this thread after all. Are you saying I should stop doing game reports because they are narcissistic?

I don't think that game reports are comparable to telling everyone your advance plans for attending matches. That is just Twitter feed stuff.

My comment about my brand was tongue in cheek btw. I see your point, but I got over-excited about those matches, I love college tennis, plus those are all venues I have never been so it'll be cool to see.

That's fine. I will be looking forward to match reports, because most of us will only see our local teams and don't have the ability to travel to any really interesting nearby sites for matches. Being in driving distance of Austin, Houston, Waco, etc., you could report on a lot of good matches, especially with the Big 12 looking better this year.

Winthrop and Anderson U tomorrow. More warm up matches. The schedule is much softer this year but it will pick up soon.
Hirokawa has actually been playing decent ball so he could test Harrington if Harrington is not ready for the match tomorrow, other than that I see no dramatic situations.

Stanford. Our best teams ever in the 80s kept losing 5-4 to Stanford in the quarter finals. Like multiple years this happened. Y'all couldn't let us win one of those?

well, you don't have to worry about that now. Recruit 2 really tough solid players with weapons, then I think you will be on your way. It doesn't matter where, probably overseas. full scholarship and good degree should give enough temptations. and good paying job at the library would help too....

A few years after he showed up as a Standford Cardinals fan, he then suddenly started talking about how great the women's team was. The timing was clear. The men failed over and over to fulfill his rediculous prediction for championships and when the women started winning. That answers the question for me.

Playing Anderson now. Ansari playing at #1. Sala/Lett/Strawn/Kennedy/Harris the line-up. Letting the B team get some action which is nice. This is also being played outdoors it appears as all 6 courts are going.

Match was stopped at 5-0 for some reason. Guess Anderson had to get on the road for that long 20 minute trip.

What was looking like an easy win is suddenly a dogfight. UNCW with a chance on all 4 courts. Clemson needs Augusto to close.

Surprised to see Dudley playing over Sala at 6. I think Sala has earned his spot so far, he's been impressive.

Harrington able to close it out with a good 3rd set. Aita is a good player. That's a nice win for Hunter.

    4-0 win.

    Harrington def Aita 6-4 5-6 6-2
Good 3rd set following the inability to close it out. Good to get a ranked win.

    Williams led Maden 2-6 6-5 2-1
Maden could have closed this out in two but let Williams hang around too long. Who knows how this would have finished

    Augusto tied with Mol 2-6 6-1 5-5
They stopped this in the tiebreak. Augusto led 5-3 in the 3rd but was unable to close it out.

    Ansari def Leskinen 6-2 6-3
    Good solid win for Ansari.

    Johnson def Hublitz 6-1 6-2
    Johnson rolling lately

    Pereira led Dudley 6-4 4-6 3-1
I would have played Sala here at 6 instead of Dudley. This looks like it was a toughly contested match.

I played junior tennis with Jon Boetsch at Charlotte Tennis Academy. He was always a ball of energy, but mostly in a good way. I would like to see him fired up like that.

Looks like Yannick Maden is back in the USA playing in the Sunrise future qualies. Easily won the first two rounds and has future Dukie Martin Redlicki next.

Maden has been doing fairly well in German futures and is up to 688 in the world.

vs Auburn tomorrow at 1 eastern at home.

Last year against Auburn was really the kicking off point of the season for Clemson. At the time Clemson was still ranked in the 60s and Auburn was around #20. We had had a couple of decent wins before that like over Alabama,Louisville and Wisconsin but nothing to really catch anyones attention yet. Clemson went into Auburn and beat them 5-2 in a fairly routine match. It was never really that stressful and it really showed that the team was much better than a year ago.

Tomorrow should be a very close match. It's hard to tell how good Auburn is yet. They did give Baylor a pretty good match in Waco but barely slipped past Georgia Tech friday. Harrington vs Ollert at 1 will the classic match of an aggressor(Harrington) vs the defender(Ollert). I'm thinking Clemson should win this but it will not be an easy one.

    1. 67th Hunter Harrington (CU) d. Lukas Ollert (AU) 6-4, 5-6, 1-0 (10-6)
    2. Dennis Lengsfeld (AU) d. Dominique Maden (CU) 1-6, 6-5, 6-3
    3. Alejandro Augusto (CU) d. 112th Daniel Cochrane (AU) 6-3, 6-2
    4. Austin Ansari (CU) d. 85th Dane Saleh (AU) 6-4, 6-4
    5. Luke Johnson (CU) d. Petar Tomic (AU) 6-5, 6-3
    6. Robert Dudley (CU) d. Oliver Plaskett (AU) 6-3, 6-4
    Order of Finish: 6, 4, 3, 5, 1, 2

    Doubles
    1. Harrington/ Maden (CU) d. Ollert/Lengsfeld (AU) 6-2
    2. Augusto/Dudley (CU) vs. Cochrane/Plaskett (AU) Unfinished
    3. Ansari/Johnson (CU) d. Saleh/Tomic (AU) 6-2
    Order of Finish: 1, 3

Talk about a bully beatdown. Ansari and Augusto particularly had great wins over raked opponents. I would have liked to have seen Dom Maden win his match but Lengsfield is a tough player.
Auburn gave a better match to Baylor than they did to Clemson today. Very encouraging win and gives a lot of momentum heading into Blue/Gray where Clemson will probably face Auburn again,Alabama,Miss State,Texas Tech or VCU

The ACC is looking fairly good this year. Some teams that lost a lot from last year, like Clemson and Georgia Tech, still look good this year.

Yes thats true. In terms of Clemson the loss of Yannick will hurt but Harrington is a capable #1 although not at quite the level of Maden. Augusto looks to be about the same level as Meza was at #3. Rigsby and Wibowo were good doubles players but in singles Johnson and Dudley and Sala look to be more than capable replacements. Johnson has been lights out lately and Dudley and Sala have both been solid at #6. #2 with Dom Maden is probably the weakest position on the team mainly because Dom's style of play is better suited for a lower spot in the line-up. It will be tough to win at #2 much in the ACC but he can certainly get wins on good days.

I didn't realize how good of a win Ansari's win over Saleh was until just now. Saleh was unbeaten in dual play and had yet to even drop a set. In the fall he took Hunter Reese to the wire and beat Malte Stropp. Very good effort for Ansari to beat him in straight sets.

Blue gray coming up. I think anything short of winning it would actually be disappointing. There is no team in this draw that is scary. Miss State will be the biggest threat of course but they are a very beatable team. A final with the Bulldogs seems inevitable.

It will be interesting to see the new players playing with the full scoring system again as well.

former Tiger Martin Blaho who was the #8 last year and only played in one match all season (a loss at #6 vs Winthrop) is now playing #1 for Point Loma Nazerene of D2 where he is 1-0 at #1

what happened to Cal Hilsman? I remember he and Rigsby joined Clemson at the same time and everyone I knew said Hilsman was the better player and would be top 3 by his junior year at Clemson. I saw Rigsby winning matches at 5 and 6 for Clemson but no Hilsman.

    Do you know?
