Clemson won 4-1.
There were no livescore?
Nope. All the Blue-Gray site says (long after the match was over) is that Clemson won doubles and 4-5-6 singles (Ansari-Sanon-Johnson) and Lovett of Alabama beat Harrington at #1 singles.
Interesting lineup from Clemson. I'll be interested to see what the scores were
finally the match scores
So good performance from the bottom of the line-up. I think that I like the new line-up. Johnson can get back into form at 6 while the peaking Sanon can get some wins at 5. Drake and Ansari swap is also good one.
It could have been 6-1 had it been played out. I don't know what was up with Harrington though.
Now vs Princeton?
Yes and need to win. But the more vital match will be tomorrow vs either Texas Tech or USF
Down early in doubles
Well I wasn't expecting a drubbing at the hands of Princeton
Down in singles early
Clemson trying to turn it around in set 2 on courts 4-6.
Princeton twitter is way ahead of blue gray live scoring
Livescore is crap again
Clemson just Bad or is ivy that Strong now? Columbia Harvard Penn Princeton.
I don't know if I would say Clemson is "just bad." They just aren't very good.
The bottom 1/3 of the SEC, on the other hand, is "just bad."
Clemson would be in the bottom third of Sec
I'll tell you what is just bad. Luke Johnson's play this season. Also Harrington's play this weekend.
Hmm..without fun...but i think Clemson should Do better with this players. .
No scores today?
I ve no scores right now are they playing?
The matches are being moved to Auburn. I imagine they are delayed till later but information has been scarce
I allways look for it But nothing there
cannot remember from last years that its so Bad
Clemson has no one out there i think?
The twitter person must not go with the team. I wonder why the manager can't do it, that's what I did when I was the manager.
Oh you were with the team? Thats great.
Right now their twitter waits for the livescore. ..
They went on court singles first but had to go back off because of rain. It was "tight".
Info I just got in a text
Alex up set 2-4 in 2nd,
Hampton split 1-2 in 3rd.
Austin set down 3-4 on serve 2nd,
Luke tiebreak for 1st,
Daffra up set 0-1 2nd.
Info straight from the source.
Clemson has chance s in this one
Dojas was up 5-3 in the 3rd about to clinch but Augusto has rallied and now leads 6-5 in 3rd.
3-1 tech overall. Sanon just dropped the 2nd set
Now a 3rd set breaker on 2.
Augusto takes it! Shades of last year's clutchness from him on display there.
Now Clemson needs Sanon to win to send this to doubles. He's up 3-1 in 3rd.
Doubles will decide this one.
A rankings catastrophe saving win today over Texas Tech. Augusto came up big.
Ranking the top 6 based on their play in the blue/gray:
1. Alejandro Augusto - great weekend did him. He needed this. One of the main reasons why the team has struggled this year is because of his regression in results from last year to this year. But this win from 3-5 down in the 3rd over Dojas harkened back memories of the clutch wins over South Carolina and FSU last year. Not to mention he was the only one who led at the time of the Princeton abandonment and was about to close out a win vs Alabama too.
2. Daffra Sanon - at #2 after the good 3 set win over Zambon and also had a straight forward win vs Bama. Trailed vs Princeton but he didn't lose it. Good to see him finding his groove in the lineup.
3. Luke Johnson - had two wins this weekend over TxTech and Alabama. Lost vs Princeton. #6 is a better spot for him now it looks like
4. Austin Ansari - didn't have a good weekend overall
5. Hampton Drake - despite early good signs Drake has yet to have any significant win this year.
6. Hunter Harrington - he will want to forget about this weekend in a hurry. 3 straight set losses, 2 of which to players ranked below him.
nice win for the team !
I see Texas Tech as a team that could and will play in NCAAs , so Clemsons win is even bigger for NCAAs. TTech has a lot of decent wins vs Likes MSU, Auburn, New Mexico, UCI, Rice.
How would you rank the performance of the first half of the season?
I think that's probably about right. It feels a little bit harsh to put drake at 6, being a freshman playing higher and higher on the team and he hasn't been killed in any match, but he also hasn't won any important match so 6 is the only acceptable slot for him.
Sanon really has been the only standout thus far this year. Everyone else has only been good in spots
Johnson ahead of Drake? Drake is a five-star freshman who is being forced to play too high in the lineup because of rather weak progress from teammates. Against Texas Tech, he played #3 while Johnson got his big three-set win at #6. More Drakes and fewer Johnsons on the roster would be an improvement.
Thats true Clark. A positive about Drake is that he hasn't had a lopsided loss yet, he competes. I think he should be playing 4, Ansari's chances if winning don't really go up by moving down while Drake's might
Strange open weekend before ACC play now. GT isn't ranked so there aren't a lot of ranking win chances coming up. This weekend would have been good to play a North Florida or South Alabama or Old Dominion or something.
why does Clemson not play Georgia anymore?
Because Georgia refuses to come to Clemson to play and Clemson isn't a mid-major school. Got tired of not getting a visit back from the Bulldogs.
Yannick Maden beat Connor Smith 6-2 6-2 in a Florida future quarterfinal. He's into the semis
I think it's more about the poor sportsmanship Clemson showed the last couple of times they played Georgia.
Huh? What poor sportsmanship? Only thing I can think of was Willems vs Pasha 3 years ago, but Clemson went back to UGA the year after that.
Georgia Tech tomorrow. Don't like this match. Won't get anything for winning and could very lose which would be a loss to an unranked team. GT has the capability to beat Clemson. Hopefully the home court plays a factor.
Segura down at 6 for GT
Match is being held indoors for some reason even though it's sunny and not windy. It's 53 degrees. It should be outdoor
Harrington/Johnson were up 7-4 and now it's 7-7. Tiebreak will decide doubles point
Clemson loses the tiebreak 14-12. That hurts going Into singles. Completely blew the doubles point there.
Uphill but still Chance. Momentum goes to gtech
