Ansari wins first set 6-0 but he's going to go down in the 2nd. Probably the most predictable thing in this match

Ansari lost the 2nd set in 18 minutes...

    Harrington's dreadful form continuing

They are playing it out and Sanon and Johnson are rolling. I'm about fed up with Ansari and his streaky play. He wins and loses games in ridiculous bunches and usually ends up losing the match

Great job with the frozen LiveStats. Only two matches left to follow, no updates for 20 minutes.

I think the twitterhead was ****ed off they were playing out the matches. You could tell they weren't happy in the tweets and then started tweeting about Clemson baseball and other stuff.

Well that was a terrible performance.

Completely blew the doubles point. I heard from someone that was there that GT started being really aggressive on court 1 and Harrington/Johnson couldn't handle it. Blowing a 7-4 lead and then losing 14-12 in the breaker.

Harrington as a senior shouldn't be getting trashed 6-3 6-2 by a freshman at #1. I don't care that the guy is 6'7 and in great form. Harrington has lost the plot the last few matches.

Augusto destroyed Rakitt at 2. Great performance there. Rakitt is decent and beating him convincingly isn't easy.

Drake loses again. This time by a lopsided score. 3 is too high for him.

Ansari. Ugh the frustration. After he won the first set 6-0 I knew he would lose the 2nd and I knew there was a pretty good chance he would lose the match and that was right after he won the set 6-0 that I knew that. He just cannot be consistent ever. His comparison to Mitchell frank(a real comparison made by a person close to the Clemson program) when he was a freshman is the worst comparison made about tennis of all time.

Sanon wins again. What else is new? Perhaps he should be playing 3, only guy on the team who had pulled his weight consistently all season.

Johnson blows a lead and loses double tiebreaks to Segura. Didn't matter but counting on Johnson these days is a losing bet.

Alabama beating ole miss helps. Alabama is now a "quality" win. Funny how stuff like that can help.

Beat college of Charleston this morning 7-0 which is good. Anyone losing would have been bad for confidence.

Down to 62 in the rankings. The win over Texas Tech is the only thing keeping the ranking afloat right now.

I was originally looking at the @Virginia Tech match (this coming Sunday) as a big chance to boost that ranking however VT has proven to be a lot better than originally thought. But there is a small chance that they played their best weekend of the season this past weekend and they could be a little flat this upcoming one, being at #15 now makes them a huge target for Clemson, a win over the Hokies would save the season immediately.

    At Virginia today.

Last year Clemson came extremely close to breaking UVA's ACC win streak of now 126. It was a Hunter Harrington service hold away. Clemson took doubles, Dom Maden took out Ryan Shane and Luke Johnson defeated Daigle. The monumental upset was sooo close to happening.

Two years ago in Charlottesville (I was there) Clemson have a pretty good fight despite losing 7-0. Two doubles matches went to a tiebreak. Dom Maden took Ryan Shane to 3 sets. Zac Rigsby and Yannick Maden both had tight 2 set matches with Mac Styslinger and Jarmere Jenkins respectively. Harrington had a very close 3 set with Domijan where he served lights out all match. (Ansari was crushed by Uriguen)

So the last two years Clemson has had decent matches with UVA, especially last year where the threat of losing was very real to Virginia.

This year I don't expect a close match. What I hope to see is good signs from Clemson to show they are ready for V Tech in Sunday. I expect Virginia to switch around a lot of players, Altamirano could be 1 or 2. The only place where I can see Clemson maybe getting a win is at 5. Daffra Sanon could beat Ritschard or Aragone or whoever else plays 5 today for UVA.

    Lineups out:

    Ansari is out

    1: Harrington vs Frank
    2: Augusto vs Shane
    3: Sanon vs Altamirano
    4: Drake vs Kwiatkowski
    5: Johnson vs Ritschard
    6: Christian Harris vs Aragone

Harris gets the nod at 6 over Lett, Sala, or Dudley.

With these lineups the only place that maybe Clemson can get a point is at 2. Augusto can maybe play defensive tennis and break down Shane much like Dom Maden was able to do last year.

Well I was hoping from something positive today but can't really take anything good from this match. Johnson won but Ritschard was likely not at 100% and who knows how it would have gone if there was no retirement. Just forget about this match and move on to Sunday. At least the players should be fresh as none had a long match.

This thread cracks me up, clemson tennis is so irrelevant, so much talk about a team that won't even make NCAAs

At Virginia Tech starting soon. This match is a big opportunity for a big ranking boosting win. In order to win Clemson will need wins in doubles, VTech is never that great in doubles, #1, Harrington beat Contini last year and then 2 other spots. Augusto beat Bjerrehus last year, could maybe do it again. If Ansari isn't playing again it'll be hard to get a point in the lower lineup.

#1 is cruising for Clemson but 2 and 3 down breaks. Looks like a little fight back on court 3 though.

They were down by two breaks on two courts but Show some spirit. Do not think they win if they lose dubs. They have a chance on 3.

If Clemson loses doubles there is no chance. Hokies are too strong in singles. No way we can get 4 courts

Augusto loses set 7-5 after being up 5-3. That kills a lot of momentum. Clemson was starting to get a good foothold in the match

Yeah well at least 3 players came to play in singles. Shame Drake couldn't pull out the win, coulda been good for the confidence. Johnson had a good win. Augusto had leads but couldn't close it out. Harrington and Ansari continue their poor form and Sanon looks overmatched at 3.

At least Texas Tech and Alabama are rising in the rankings. Tournament isn't completely out of reach just yet, but the natch at FSU Sunday on espn3 is an absolute must win.

Now it's Augusto and Sanon who are struggling. This team can't get consistent contribution from anyone.

Ended 4-3. The close doubles point was the difference. Good emphatic comeback from Drake after losing the first set. Ansari and Johnson with good results, especially for Ansari since Clark was one of the only Miami players who had been showing signs of life recently. The top 3 all lost though....

vs FSU tomorrow on ESPN3. I'm excited about the tv coverage because I finally get to see a few players play who I have never seen strike a ball before.

The match tomorrow is an absolute must win. FSU is ranked 27 and it would help Clemson's ranking a lot if they were to win.

Where can Clemson get 4 points from?

Doubles will be tough because FSU is pretty good in doubles and Clemson has been trying out all kinds of new combinations recently.

1: Harrington vs Lock - Lock in 2 considering the form of Harrington
2: Augusto vs Nunez - Nunez in 3
3: Sanon vs Rinaldi - Probably Rinaldi in 3. Sanon could be moved down based on 3 straight loses at 3.
    4: Ansari vs Gonzalez-Mendez - CGM in 2
5: Johnson vs Gracia - Johnson in 3
6: Drake vs Whitehurst - Drake in 2

So FSU has the edge. Clemson will need to get wins at 5,6, probably doubles and then will need to get a win somewhere else. Augusto could outlast Nunez in 3 to get the 4th point in the best case scenario.

Espn3 broadcast looks good. But the announcers found confused as hell. I don't think they knew that this was going to be AD tennis

They are showing the most lopsided doubles court (court 2) for some reason and have been for a while.

The espn3 announcers are talking about very small fundamental parts of tennis. Do they think people who have never seen tennis are seeking out college tennis on espn3?

They have done a good job of showing all courts so far. They've checked in at least once on every court.
